bits and pieces and Oprah...........

I had to take some pics of orange for the challenge on Snappy friends........struggling with orange  - not my colour I knew the mandarin tree still had some fruit on it but look what else i found
my only orange flowers are from a kalanchoe, then berries from my duranta, stamen of a Cherokee rose, the mandarins and then the sadly neglected sprinkler..........
my pet gular.........
"lamarque" - it has grown a bit Bloom - my first real flowers on it..........smells divine
my cherokee rose is about to be covered in full bloom..........
the eremophilia's (emu bush) are flowering well...........
umbrella grass is still jammed in all the garden beds............I have to pick up each little piece...........so disheartening...........days and days of work that I don't have...........but the african daisy have popped their heads up thru the mess.........
I just watched the whole show where Oprah announced she is coming to Australia with 300 of her audience.......it has been all over the news here since she announced it......how wonderfully exciting it would be for them to have a holiday in Australia....... "free" is even better............they are going to love the places they are going to but none of that is anywhere near me............shame they won't see the heart of Australia.......
They are going to some gorgeous locations.......... Margaret River wine region, Great Barrier Reef, Great Ocean Road, Melbourne shopping and she is to tape a couple of shows at the Opera House.........I have no idea how you would get tickets but I would LOVE to go............. I don't get to watch Oprah all the time as I work but whenever I can I do and have done so for many many years............I went to the Oprah site this morning and there is a little quiz you can take to see how much you know about Australia...........don't worry even I got some wrong.........
Bush Babe had this post today...........love it..........
Catch you later..............

It's great the orange things you found, when you thought you didn't have many! Fabulous pics. It would be amazing to see some of the places Oprah and her guests will be visiting, lucky things. I love Australia, so diverse and beautiful. Can't wait to visit your great country again!

I am so jealous of Oprah's guests. LOL I watched her show yesterday and was so happy for her audience. Didn't they look so thrilled. You can only get in her audience via a lottery win. I have tried even though I live 2000 miles away. I would go.

Great 'orange'post. Love the cherokee roses. Roses don't do so well in our climate here in sub-tropical queensland.
We have lots of orange clivea flowers out at the moment all along the driveway in the shade.
I heard on the radio that there was going to be a lottery for the Oprah audience tickets. I bet they get thousands of entries.

Hello, your mandarins just look good enough to eat. We have three mandarin trees and got stacks of
them to eat, hundreds I would guess! I have eaten so many I am starting to look like a mandarin. Alas next Winter we won't be here, and the buyer of our little hobby farm will reap the benefits of our citrus orchard! Tahitian limes, Meyer lemons, two grapefruit trees, one navel orange tree and the Kaffir lime tree for Thai cooking.

Once we get down the coast again we will start the citrus off once more. (hopefully, this will be our last move) All our family lives Newcastle way and our two grandchildren are getting older. We want to spend more quality time with them all!!!

Packing up my beautiful large craft room has been a nightmare. What to keep and what to store???

And the catch is.... (re: Oprah)... that it's costing the federal government 1.5 million dollars and the nsw government 2 millions dollars to get her here. So in a way Donna... you are involved in getting Oprah and her special guests to Australia. Your tax dollars are paying for them! ;)

Hey Chooky, one of my cousins works for Channel 10 and she just posted on facebook that they are taking applications for people to be in the audience, perhaps you could contact them in Sydney and ask how you go about putting in an application, worth a try I say! Apparently she is going to be giving away some big prizes ~ good luck, and hope you get a seat :)!! Love your galah!!

Beautiful pictures as always Donna. Love that one of your beautiful bird!

I heard on the news this morning about Oprah's trip -- wouldn't that be a fantastic giveaway??? I'd LOVE to come to your country. A few guys I work with are going in a few weeks and I keep begging them to take me. I used to love Oprah when she was a talk show host. But then she went off on her political tangent and I. quit. watching!

Great photos Chooky! Your Lemarque looks beautiful. I have thought about buying one many times since you purchased yours, but I don't think I have enough room for her!

What a beautiful bird, and it's a pet? Really I have never seen a bird like that, I bet it is peaceful and lovely to have such a gorgeous bird in your home. Beautiful pictures, thanks for sharing them!

Beautiful photos of some really pretty flowers in your part of the world. I have not ever seen a pink bird before. So pretty.
I wish I would have been in the audience when Oprah gave those trips away.

I just happened to be home the day Oprah made that announcement! I was SO JEALOUS!!! Hopefully they'll all get a chance to see some "real" Australians. It's probably just as well I didn't get to go with them as I do suspect I would have trouble talking Oprah into stopping at some of your amazing quilt shops. So I'll continue to get my "fix" on the internet and through blogs.
