Autism Awareness..........

APRIL 1ST World Autism Awareness Day..........
promoting awareness and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorders............
Below taken from here
It’s part of a global initiative - on April 1st the
Sydney Opera House,
the Empire State Building New York,
the Kingdom Tower Saudi Arabia,
Torre Agbar Spain,
Federation Square Melbourne,
Storey Bridge Brisbane
and a host of world famous landmarks are going to “Light it up blue” to support World Autism Awareness Day.
In Australia, 1 in 160 children have an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). It is our nation’s most common developmental disorder, and more children are diagnosed with ASD than childhood AIDS, diabetes and cancer combined. No one knows the cause, there is no cure, but there is hope.

you can find more information about Autism Spectrum Disorder signs, diagnosis etc here
.......
Asperger's Syndrome also comes under the Autism Spectrum Disorder umbrella
..........
Show your support and understanding
light up your own blue light bulb here

.........take care til next time.....Chookyblue.........

One of my closest friends has three children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders. So much for 1 in 160. That's why we should all do everything we can to help. You just never know how it will touch you in the future. Off to check out the blue light bulbs

Thanks for the great post raising awareness of this condition. It is so common and affects so many. I teach two sweet boys with ASD and a gorgeous little girl with Asperghers Syndrome, all in one mainstream classroom at a regular primary school. Many people don't understand what the children and their families go through on a daily basis. Thank-you for raising this subject!
