the shopping at the quilt show.....

WARNING this is a Kris type post...........lots of pics and writing......LOL.....you better get a cuppa
&&&
Oh I knew there was someone else who had posted some quilts but last night I couldn't think who it was until Samelia's mum posted some more this morning so check it out.......
&&&
now onto the shopping..........told you it was bad didn't I......lol......
lets start with Fairy Girls shopping............we found these Moonshine - Monica Poole patterns on Margaret's Fabrics stand.........................I think she should be able to do the Sleepy Sheep no worries.........BUT she also loved the Dragonfly pattern too so I got it for her too..............lots of beautiful fabrics I was very strong and didn't go over the top............
the same stall had this gorgeous floral binding too.............
I'd seen this book online previously but Fairy Girl managed to find it at the book shop.............hopefully she can work on some projects during the holidays which start tomorrow for 2 weeks.............
The Patchwork Apple had these gorgeous fabrics made into this bag pattern on the stand............a must purchase............
I found Cass helping out on Nicole Mallalieu's stand..........had to get Nicky's new book.....
....nice to see both you girls again.............
.....Nicky has all the bits and bobs for bags............and soooo many bag patterns..........
The Craft Queen had these beautiful ribbons............some for Fairy Girl some for me..........
Now i knew Marg Low was going to be on the Blue Willow Cottage stand so I was very excited when I found it and Marg was at the stand..............lovely to meet her as I have a few of her patterns and while there got a couple more................we had a LOL as quite a few girls had got the Stitched Treasure kit on the left when we met on Friday morning............
Also got this pattern while at Blue Willow Cottage............love the russian dolls.........
Now this shop (thankfully for my bank balance) is in Victoria.......Somerset Patchwork........I fell in love with a quilt called Mrs Billings (found a pic here) but thought I need to try something easier first so I got this Sarsaparilla pattern.......
and I don't have too many orangey/yellowy colours in the repros so I got these..............oh and just had to have the blue..........
Kelani was a great find.............well probably not so great I did a bit of damage there..............ran into Cathy a lovely lady from Victoria..........great to catch up again..........also caught up with a couple of other girls I met at Rosehill (Stitches and Craft) while I was chatting at Kelani............
Kelani had lots of different designs, fabrics and patterns...........
This is the face I picked for my Babuska doll..............
The Red Thread Lisa actually turned up at the Kelani stand while I was there too...........
I have been strong and not got any Sherbert Pips but when I saw the bolts sitting there I was gone and this bundle came home with me..............
and this russian doll fabric was a favourite..........LOVE it...........bit heavier weight too..........
later I went back and brought this skirt pattern so that is what is planned for the fabric now.........
Kelani had lots of different fabrics which was great to see..............
&&&
Natalie Bird The Birdhouse was at her shop stand Thread and Ginger - a gorgeous stand..............I saw the Tis the Season quilt hanging with the other projects from the book..........should have asked Nat i'm sure she would have let me take some pics but I didn't have the camera out and forgot about it............
I nearly got another xmas pattern there too but I know I got something of Nat's not that long ago and couldn't remember which one i got.............I didn't have these books of Natalie's
From the Heart Natalie Bird
Sweet Sentiments
.........lots of little quick stitcheries..........maybe I won't get the quilts made but some of the other projects in the books..............see what happens..............maybe i'll just flick thru them for awhile...........so pretty..............
&&&
Sue Daley was a definite stop.............i'm going to a workshop with her next year..............I needed a few more bits and pieces to get going with some paper piecing...............I couldn't get to the workshop Sue had as  it was the same time as the blog meet so I went back to her stand later in the arvo and Sue showed me what to do.............hoping to start playing this weekend................
I also wanted a rotating mat and I got this one Sue had made.............
spent enough money to get a free pattern (does that justify how much I spent???)
&&&
Finally the shop I went to way tooooooooo many times.........
(probably not as many times as Sylvia .......lol)
Hatched and Patched..............Anni's stand was gorgeous as I showed you back a couple of posts................I got a couple of kits for the new book "Some Kind of Wonderful"............
if your tracking down some kits email Anni as I don't think she had them on the site yet............tell her Chooky sent you.............Anni's email
Helen's fault I got the Festive Season pattern...........she made it up the other day...........you can see her version here ...........missed the Pear pattern in this photo.............
And here is a little treat for me...............NO sorry you can't get this yet.............maybe late July (I think Anni said) but this is a pic of the labels fabric from Anni's new range.............she had a fat 1/4 bundle there to look at of the new fabrics too and they are just gorgeous but lucky for me this piece of labels got to come live with me now so unlike the book I got early (and didn't realise I got it specially) I know you can't get this yet but Anni did say i could share the pic with you..............I am so desperate for labels so thanks Anni for getting this to me now..............I loved the old labels too but these are just as gorgeous.......can't wait to stitch them onto some of my projects...................

Finally THANKYOU the shops/designers who put the effort in to have a stand at the quilt show...................I know it is a huge effort and from me it is very much appreciate..............there is nothing quite like picking things up and touching and feeling and buying goodies straight away........ratting thru the other girls bags and seeing what we all brought.............just like Christmas.............lol
&&&
One thing that I was disappointed with was lots of Aussie designers who I like to stitch/sew were just not there.............I know they don't have shops but it would have been nice to see their patterns ...............so many were missing..............I was looking forward to seeing some of their new patterns/books etc but nothing there to look at............such a shame........
.....I know they may go to the shop expos but that does nothing for those of us who aren't allowed to go there...........
They're missing out on putting your stuff out there to all us shoppers........I know if I had gone to a stand they were on I would have done more damage to the bank balance getting some more patterns.............
&&&&&
so would I go again.....................absolutely............I had a ball.....
.....meeting up with the other girls for dinner after was a hoot too............i'll be trying my hardest to get there again next year.....it's a pretty big effort where I live........some of the girls who went this year for the day will hopefully be having sleepovers next year too so we get more time to hang out.............and hopefully an online group I am part of will be having a meet the same time as the quilt show next year so the countdown begins............
next up a few mini quilts..........
Catch you later..............

Great shopping!!
I agree, missed a lot of our favourite Aussie designers. I did mention it to one of them on FB the other day about not seeing her brand new book there but no response.

JPB -

Just jumped on to see what you got up to at the quilt show ........ hmmm you are going to be VERY busy! lol

It looks like you had an aWeSoMe time. So glad that all of you had a nice break away and enjoyed all your treats.

You had better hurry up and get that shed built to store all your new treasures. Pity peg bags weren't as exciting for you and Fairygirl. lol ;)

Great shopping, Chooky....I think there are a few "ditto" items amongst yours and mine take home goodies.....funny how in a whole huge fair we can buy the same items......I think lots of people came home with their must-haves to English Paper Piece and this is probably due to Sue's demonstrating all day every day, sharing her skills.....I agree about the other Aussie designers....if only they'd take a leaf out of Sue's book, they'd be pleased with the sales I'm sure.....I've been busy photographing my purchases this morn...took ages....oh dear....better get sewing ...FAST!!!!! lol
