*&%$()**^^%$%^$............

Why does everyone think everyone needs to visit istagram, facebook and/ or whatever else too........
.......it s&^^%$&# me.............
"check my pics on istagram"
"like me on facebook"
blah blah blah.........
I don't get it..............
I only need to waste me time on one thing so i'll stick to blogging.....not doing anything else....
And don't assume everyone wants to follow you in a million locations online.......

Have to say that I am an Instagram addict :o) So easy to flick through when waiting to pick kids up / drop off and way more light hearted and positive than all the crap that people post on facebook!

I agree blogging is time consuming enough.

Indigo Blue said...

Oh I am soooo with you on this one!!
I think this is also why the number of comments on my blog has dropped as well........(or may be my blog is just boring) and it is the interaction via comments and reqading other blogs that made me sign up in the first place. I am on Pinterest but I have not uploaded anything for ages. I do not like the dreadful fall out that can hurt people on Facebook. It does not seem to be a very nice place to be even though it would probably get me some sales for my website I have still resisted any sign up.
Have a good week.

Lol! It's the new religion, everyone wants to convert you! I'm beginning to think that social media actually makes you less sociable as well. Ironic.

I hear this frustration...loud and clear.

Yep I agree too, I struggle to do my blog sometimes so the other places are out for me .... I do have to admit that I have a facebook page so I can play candy crush sometimes.... so naughty.

I only blog too. That takes up enough time as it is!

yes i really only blog but i have FB to keep in touch with relations that are too far away, you need so much time to be on all of these things, have a wonderful day my friend.xx

There seems to be an obsession with having numbers on all these different things... I find I use a few of them (facebook and pinterest and blog) for different groups - I have friends who don't blog so I can keep up with them on f/b... but I don't understand the need for lots of followers/likers etc and I get annoyed with constant requests to like and promotions of their 'pages' too...

I agree with Fiona... Only started Facebook when I joined Aiming for Accuracy.. It was great to see photos of others progress.

Love blogging best. I am on FB but find it beneficial really only for keeping in touch with family and long distance friends. I find I really don't have time to waste on it. I would rather actually be 'doing' something than spend the time giving all and sundry a blow by blow description of my day... I am NOT that interesting and sadly nor are a lot of others....but whatever floats ya boat xxxx

Terry said...

I agree with you completely! I do have a Facebook account, but it's mainly for family and a few friends.

Lorraine said...

I am on FB but rarely post anything - it's really to keep up with the kids on their travels overseas but I have found they don't use FB as much any more. I love Instagram - it's so easy just to post a quick pic with a comment - also joined that to follow the kids on their adventures but find it great when I have a couple of spare minutes to scroll through and see what is going on out there in the world....I still love my blog though! ...but for those times I don't have time to do a post Instagram is the go....colour me lazy :)

Blogging with all of you, my friends and FB for my family/friends. who lives 3000 miles away and different time changes! And I do not like playing telephone tag.

I couldn't agree more...It's hard enough keeping up with blogging let alone adding another million sites.

So if all that social media stuff overwhelms someone young like yourself...you can just imagine how I feel! lol This will surprise you but when I was still working (teacher) I had to go to PD classes after school and in one we had to set up Twitter, Digg and a few others accounts...what the? I am on Facebook though, but I don't 'tweet' through my Twitter account and I don't really share photos via Instagram :-/

Susan said...

I'm a blogger too :)

I love my blogging...do a bit on Instagram...and have FB account but only have this to keep in touch with the boys....

I'm with you too! Chooky, personally I blame my children, it was all their idea! ... I try to just blog but even that gets time-consuming too especially when I just want to sew...

Lynn said...

I agree!!

Just do what you want...what you are happiest with. I like Instagram too as it is quick and convenient, but it is what you are happy with!

Woo Hoo - I love this post & I love the Comments so far... I would rather stick with that, & continue with the friendships & participation I have, than spend so much time maintaining other social media that I have nothing to blog!

Janice said...

Hear! Hear! I only blog. That is quite enough.

Unknown said...

Oh come on Chooky, dont you want to know what people had for breakfast, how long they have been waiting in a cue, read their words of wisdom and interpretations of sayings? Haha, I'm with you. What happened to speaking face to face, writing a letter etc. omg I am showing my age! Sharyn:)

We have just spent the weekend in Sydney (we live in the Northern Rivers) and everytime we hopped on a train or went to a cafe everyone around us was on their phones or ipads, I presume, on some sort of social media. It was amazing how many people just sat there staring and scrolling. I also find it annoying when ads on TV or radio say check out our FB page.

Whats with only being able to deal with some business via FB.

I get what you are saying but I blog to people out in the world, not my local community (even my friends don't know I blog), my girls and sisters use Facebook so therefore I like to keep tabs on whats happening there and yeah, Instagram is pretty much the same. My girls and a few bloggers share pictures there so I have a look every so often. You do what feels right for you.

Cheers - Joolz

Lol! I get it, yet I have both an instagram & facebook account ... maybe that's why I don't blog often, lol!! I enjoy instagram for the almost behind-the-scenes look at some of the lives of my fav bloggers + a few other friends; whereas I practically LIVE on FB, lol! It's the place I get to connect with those I went to highschool with (finding out what they are getting up to, and keeping in touch), those I've met in the blogging world who I consider friends, and I have also in the last couple of years, been doing OBSs (online bible studies), and had FB groups on there where we can discuss the study, pray for each other, and build up a community of spiritual sisters which has been soooo beneficial!! ... Plus, as a single SAHM, who studies & quilts/sews in her (rare) spare time, I enjoy the social aspects that these communities allow me - especially since the only night I go out is to a women's bible study, and when I'm out during the day, I'm either studying or out with the little one. Nice to have some 'adult' conversation, even if it's only online some days!!! :D

Suck it up sister! It is the decade of social media ... they all intertwine .... some might say they can't stand blogs. Each to their own - really it all comes down to preference.

Social media has worked to our advantage to promote our upcoming fete.

Hey Donna! Amen, sister! Move over on that soapbox so I can climb up with you! :0) Blogging is about as much as I can keep up with ... though I am somewhat addicted to Pinterest ... not for followers, but to keep a record or ideas and inspiration for myself ... I'd never fit all of my Pinterest photos on my real life inspiration boards! Tee! Hee! Hee! I guess the other things have their uses, but I'm not willing to complicate my life any further ... plus they'd probably all need passwords and you KNOW how much I LOVE passwords!!!!! :0) Bear Hugs! KRIS

Who fed you raw meat today!! (lol) I've got a Facebook a/c just because I needed one to sign up for Pinterest. OK... so it might have been that it was the easiest way to sign up... who knows. It's hard enough to find time to keep up with blog reading (which I love) let alone 'tweet' I'm one big bird who'll be keeping her beak shut. I figure there is only so much tech a gal can accomodate and still have a life! Hope the steam has stopped coming out of your ears... ;o))

I am one of the "sneakers" on FB, which means I am there without any words written. I like reading and checking on family and friends.
But I still rather try to keep my quilting-blog as active as possible :))

Also totally agree - I have my facebook page that I had before my blog. I would much rather read someone's blog than be jumping from one media to another - much more personal also!!

Absolutely with you

oh thank you! I thought it was just me! I'm on Facebook because it's the only way I know if my family is alive! but enough with all the other stuff! I can barely keep up with the blogs I love!

Thimbleanna said...

Hahaha -- Good for YOU!!! I totally agree, although I do have an instagram account that is mostly neglected. It seems like it's mostly for lazy bloggers LOL. I really get annoyed when they blog all their instagram pictures. New Stuff People -- I want new stuff!!! And you speak the truth -- there is SO much lovely out there -- who has time to follow everyone on everything???

Sue SA said...

I agree, but then again I am IT illiterate so trying to work out another social media beyond blogging is in the too hard basket, that just cuts into stitching time!

I love Facebook!! But you already knew that.... LOL

I find it quicker than blogging, it is in real time, and I can do it on my phone for free whereas I either use up the data on my phone blogging or i have to wait until I am home and have time to write up a whole blog post.

However, I hate people who ask for people to follow them...eg...200 likers and I will have a give away..puhleeze!
