cow time not sewing time............

Lucky I have an understanding boss as in late for work excuses............this was the reason this morning..........see the girl on the left with the waters hanging out of "you know where"
things were not happening so with my neighbours help (after me trying for 20 mins and still ending up under the same tree) we started heading her to the yards and she was much more agreeable on heading were we wanted with 2 of us.........she progress slighty so decided to leave her in a paddock beside the yards "just in case"...........
I went off to work and at lunch time the neighbors rang.......they are so good.............they went to check and decided she did need "pulling" that is get the heifer in the cattle crush which holds her in place from moving tooo much and putting ropes into the heifer onto the legs of the calf and pulling the calf out..........Yep Keryn @ Christmas Creations I told you it's a job you want to avoid..........they had to rush off but the calf was alive and breathing but not on it's feet when they left........
I have helped pull calves before but I stress helped as in passing stuff and helping pull.........I'm not anywhere interested in putting my arm into "you know where"..... besides my arms are way to short........and I'm sticking to that excuse..........
Anyway when I got home first stop was to check her............and her little boy popped up and went looking for a drink of milk............a good end to the day..........
brought a thanks treat home for the neighbours too............
yes that is a storm in the background of the photo but no rain for us..........its very dry again the constant heat has zapped everything...........but it was a little cooler today and there is a glorious breeze blowing tonight.............no air con or fan needed...........
&&&
not sure when I am back.........off to Girls Day in the Country GDITC Friday.......OMG getting excited...........can't wait to see all my bloggy peeps............and also enjoy a workshop with Anni Downs  @ Hatched and Patched organised by Kerry @ Cottage on the Hill in Nundle.............
Catch you later.......

OMG!!!! The image in my head is gross. Poor calf being hauled out like that. I have heard about it and often wonder why they don't birth themselves easily. Talk about multitasking girl! LOL.

I wish we had close neighbours to check once in a while...calving will be starting for us in April and I'm looking forward to it...hopefully we won't have to pull any...one can hope.

looking forward to seeing you.
I am glad we have never had to pull a calf. I have pulled lambs and I think something kind of takes over in the moment and you just get the job done.

OMG, what a way to start the day. Yep you sure are right that is not something you want to be a part of and the thought of me putting my arm up you know where nearly makes me want to pass out on the floor! My day looks all sunshine and roses compared to that. Have a wonderful time in Nundle and kick those heels up!!

What an experience helping a calf to be born! I look forward to reading all about the Nundle weekend. The girls at Sunday Stitchers were excitedly organising the trip at the last meet up on Sunday last.
