A lesson in hand piecing......

While Jindi was here she taught me to hand piece........I enjoyed it to...... Now to finish the block.......

stinking hot............

Well just reading the weather site and it says Syd and others along the east coast are having a pretty cool Aust Day.............we'll it sure isn't cool here.......

37 forecast so nice and warm outside..........

I have stuff to share but having trouble with my computer and phone bluetoothing pics.........

We're all a bit busted here today as we had friends and family for a pig  on the spit yesterday........

I don't eat pork but it was great........I do love crackling off the pig......

A fun afternoon............the pool got a huge work out............

a few slept over and we had bacon and eggs for breaky....................

everyone left we did the clean up and pack away and we all crashed on beds/lounges in the air con today..........

Sorry for the delay..........so much to share but since we got back from our short holiday I had work and they ended up being pretty long days for 2 days (out of 3).............5 hours more in the 2 days then normal...............now that's the kind of days I expect working at home not in town..........and I have a visitor at the moment too.........more about that later..........

But back to the task............I shared the fabrics here and then progress here..............

On our way on holidays I had a night at the Cottage on the Hill............

We were talking about the new quilts for the year and Kerry had these gorgeous fabrics and I she said she needed to make something with them...............so I said well what are we making...............hence we started looking at ideas and talking about ideas and started making within 1/2 hr............

I started sewing and Kerry cutting and ironing an then we swapped..............

 a layer cake, jelly roll and some yardage and here we go.........

Kerry had the quilt top finished the next night.........

It's probably even been quilted by Betty now..........

But it's great and I'm thinking this could be my retreat quilt for 2015............

Or maybe I could just get a kit from Kerry and make it anyway now...........

Kerry's been busy pattern writing as she has 3 new quilts for 2015......

It was so much fun just letting it develop as we go and sewing on the one project with a friend..........it did come together pretty quick............

What a nice time with crafty friends............love it.............

I only decided to go the day before I left........bit spontaneous

Fairy Girl and I headed off...........the roads sure changed along the way............

But lots of long straight stretches as far as the eye can see and then some.......

We got to visit a few patch work shops along the way........

Cobar Quilt Shop sure is work a visit...............OMG I wished it was closer........

so many lovely fabrics.............just about every bit you could need...........

heaps of patterns...........lots of kits around too.........

I was well looked after...........

A lovely light sewing area up the back for classes.............

lots of fabrics, styles, etc.............plenty of choice..............

I decided to see what I could find as possibles for the new SAL............I need backgrounds no matter which colour way I went...........blues or brights...........

well brights it is...........

still yet to put them with what I have but I like the choices so far....

My pattern arrived today so will have to check it all out together.....

Fell in love with this quilt which they can kit up......

This is made in Lynette Anderson fabrics.......

Nearly the whole time I was visiting my friends it was raining.......just about unheard of in that part of the world..........It started raining 50kms from my destination and only stopped about 40kms out on my way home...............the whole time I was there it was showering or misting............OMG heaven.......about 60mls of rain...........needed so badly there too...........nothing at home unfortunately........most of the time we sat on Suze's back verendah and watched the rain fall and stitched........

Worked on Suzes SKofW SAL..........

Blocks all trimmed and 3 rows joined...........

Got my first Lucy Boston block finished.........I see Shiralee Stitches newsletter in my inbox and the 3rd one is out........must get 2 finished now.........it is cut just not glued yet...........

Fairy Girl is dreaming about some fancy draws..............bit expensive but maybe we can make one for ourselves..........thinking Sonia may be able to help me work out how to do the paper thing on the fronts........she's pretty crafty talented........

changes, a rant, a quote.........

Trish I tried to reply to your email but it bounced......try contacting me on the contact form on the right hand side of my blog............

Sheryl Vicino who is NO REPLY asked what font I have changed to on my blog and it is "Indie Flower" I really like it........AND i made the font bigger so i can read it easier........ I have shared this post with many how to change from no reply

GOOGLE+ why why why does google have to make changes and try and force people into google+........it just makes life difficult...........everyone I know hates it in blogland..........people who are google+ leave comments and you can't contact them............or find their blog address..............people send me google friends connect requests..........sorry I just delete them as I am not going to google+...........it's not that I don't like you..............it has caused trouble for people wanting to join the SAL...........If people want to do something like google friends connect then they would  do FB instead.......but every step you make in blogger they are trying to get you to move into google+ if only they would give up and realise we hate it............

And while i'm at it.............Ad's on blogs......I hate them too.........it's not why I started blogging......

stillness...........

sitting on the front verendah trying to find a breeze but there is none...............the silence is amazing..............way over in the paddock the kookaburras are doing there last call.......a cow moos gently in the front paddock.............a stick cracks that the cow steps on and the crickets are making their night noises.......a night bird makes a noise I recognise but not sure what sort it is......... Mummy Willy gives a warning to the babies that are just starting to sit out of the nest today........they will be flying tomorrow............well trying too............... darn the water pump cuts in and breaks the silence............... I live in heaven away from all the evil of the world............ i'll leave now as a baby calf calls for it's mother............. ........take care til next time.....Chookyblue.........

I do need to add a few lighter blues to the collections but they are with other stuff in the Chookshed.........

It's 11.30pm and still 30.3 degs with not the slightest breeze.............I should be in bed.........

but not sure I could sleep anyway with it so warm.........better try.....

I'll regret this in the morning since  I will be awake at 5.30am..........

road to nowhere...............

Everyone is always so busy and cites are non stop people...(freaks me out at times)..........

I always feel amazed and blessed I can  travel roads for an hour at times and only pass a couple of vehicles.......

today I passed 2 vehicles in my whole hours drive....................

probably not good if your car bloke down etc but ...

I was contemplating life.........having been at a friends Dads funeral...........I also had been to another funeral for another friends Mum's funeral just before Christmas.........

I found out so much about both people................they lived interesting lives.........in there early years having huge adventures.........the 2nd world war was mentioned in both Eulogies..........one being a young woman during the war and another being born during the war and the effect on both of them because it effected there lives.........

one crossed the globe for a new life and the other travelling the globe in his work.........both very interesting lives..........

I found myself thinking what someone would say about me..........my life seems so uninteresting compared to there's...........

In Australia everyone has a "wake" after the funeral service................it's a cuppa tea etc or drinks and finger food............everyone gets to chat and catch up............

I decided my eulogy would be very short and then a quick announcement.........."lets pop a bottle and enjoy a drink"..............

But I still love the fact I can travel for so long with almost no one interrupting my life.......gives you time to think............

my ipod playing music in the background............I decided recently to go from the start of the alphabet in song names........currently I am up to "bre" song titles.....this could take some time...........

I have sewing I wanted to show you yesterday but it can wait til tomorrow...................

touching base..........

I meant to get back before now but I have been busy over on the Stitch-a-long blog.......things are going "OFF" in a big way there.............the new SAL is happening.......

everyone is ready for a new year of sewing as with the Jan 1 announcement signups were coming in thick and fast...........thanks for the help Susan (self titled "Assistant to the Stitch-a-long CEO)

So in between sorting things there I have been stitching the January project............
