once I got the post visitor jobs done and the last blog post I put the sewing machine to work........

I had a goal..........to get my quilt top together.....

TA DA...........

yet to decide on a name or if I am adding any more borders............I started it at Cottage on the Hill @ Nundle at my 2014 retreat 2013 retreat.........

THANKYOU EVERYONE so very much for joining in the fun...........I've still got to visit all your posts to see what you have done but I am heading to bed shortly.............those girls are all night owls and I stayed up WAY to late every night..... 

I am so blessed to have the Chookshed something I never ever thought I would achieve.........so it is an absolute delight to be able to share it with friends I made thru blogging both in person and online is very special.............

Design boards more info..............

Thanks for all your great comments on my last post on the design boards..........

This is the you tube video on how I made the design boards. I used hard artist canvas boards (not the ones stretched over a timber frame) Lori used foam core board. I don't have this available locally...........but one day I would like to give it ago........

Also I have done this with good old clag glue instead of the hot glue gun which worked too but you have to wait for it to dry. 

Starch the binding will help too............

I made these in a very short space of time...........bit of a production line.............I use them heaps.........not sure how I lived without them............

I had been putting it off but bit the bullet and bang heaps were done..........why was I waiting.....

Design Boards

Been whipping up some design boards............(about 6-7 weeks ago)

braved it and used the hot glue gun...........only burnt myself a couple of times...........all in all pretty good I think.........

Not perfect but fine for me.........

thought I had broken the glue gun...........got Mr Chooky to buy my another one...........then realised I had to keep feeding the glue sticks in.............

woops told you I was inexperienced with them......lol...

This goes with that at Lucy's..............

For the Aussies I digress the blog title a slight twist on the old "This goes with that at Susans" advertising line.............

anyway back to Lucy.............

thought I had shared this but I hadn't so this is how I put my Lucy Boston blocks together..............

I join centre pairs and then put a green in this case and repeat for below then join those 2 sections and add the other 2 greens to make the section below.........

 I pair up the outer fabrics sometimes these have one directional prints etc and it is easier to think as I join them in pairs then as I put each one onto the block........

then it all goes together...........OMG when I first started I sewed wrong bits in or joined the wrong angles...........thank goodness I found a system.........well it works very well for me anyway..............

then  I add the units I have prepared of creams as per previous post........you don't need the little squares on all points.........

then we grab the fillers (see this post)

And this goes with that.........and Lucy starts to come together..........

Ignore the bottom left block as it is a corner and I am working that bit out............

I'll show you how I am finishing it off later..........

It needs more sewing and I am banned from Lucy at the moment.................

I moved it apart a bit so you can see the outline of each block...........

OK enough of Lucy..........I would not have done it today but we have free data with Telstra today so I have been getting some computer stuff out of the way.......updates etc..........I think they upped the speed because this morning mine was going SOOOOO fast for us..........not the case this arvo...........

usually we have such limited amount I am taking advantage.......

And it is hot so I am inside with the air con...............

I got one of the flowers finished and now April is done.............yep April last year........

better late then never?

Natures Journey.............

And my beautiful feathered friend Jenny @ Bird on the Border has been visiting for a few days..........the Chookshed was buzzing.............more from Jen then me but hey I got some sewing done.............made the design board above for Jenny while she was here.......

sadly she had to go home...........even if she banned me from Lucy and flogged me along with Natures Journey..................feeling heatly and reinspired with many projects and some time to do them..........

catching up..........

bit of a revolving door here but it's stopped for now............it's been great having friends calling in...........

we spent some time at the dam with the kids again the next night but Mr Chooky didn't have the BBQ and it was a bit hotter and no shade so we went home to cook the BBQ..........

The guinea fowl have several nests in the garden...........I found 2 in the last week and they have a 3rd one they are nesting on...............plus there is another one just on the garden fence outside..........they are pretty sneaky but when you get used to looking you can find them..........

see there in the middle thru the agapanthus leaves...........yep no one sitting on there so I went behind the bushes and snapped this pic below..........

this one is under an emu bush..........again a mountain of eggs.........I had raided a few nests but as the chooks are laying well now I will leave these.............

yesterday we went to check another property..............bare and I would prefer green but love this pic.............

I was a little envious the other day when Fiona @ BubzRugz received some design boards from Susan @ Oh to Sew..............I had some boards to make them on and had looked at them a few times in the last week or so but couldn't really remember what she said to do so it hadn't happened............

So I was "tickled pink blue" when these arrived in the mail...........

after some texts with Sonia @ Forever Always I started tidying and in order to tidy I had some fabrics sitting on the cutting bench to cut Lucy Bostons from so i got that done.......even cut a border for another project and got it attached..........slowly things are happening..............

I didn't even bother going to the shed this week as it was too hot..........today is so different.......yesterday was 40.....today it's currently 15 degs with a few spots of rain (nothing much to make a difference)........so yesterday the house was all shut up with the air con blasting and today shut up as the breeze is a bit fresh but ohhhhhh so nice.............we never get changes this cool..........usually when it's 40 a cool change is around 30............

ok must go and get some more posts organised..........like my christmas ones..............and the bookwork is calling..........
