Retreat dreaming QLD..........

I'm back home..............not a lot of words..........
the last couple of weeks have been like a yoyo..........
We meet up with Maureen at a random park along the way (as I mentioned last post)............
Found the dream location for a Quilt retreat business...........need to win lotto........or find a friend with lots of money..........succeeded in neither so far..........
visited a stunning old homestead "Glengallen Homestead" who clearly also needs lots more money spent on her...........

loved the stair case............
the features speak for themselves.........
ate to much food.......
enjoyed wonderful company........
actually used a sewing machine........again......
ate more food...........
took my partner in crime all things quilty........
chopped fabric for Susan and myself........
more sewing..........
required therapy so brought fabric - probably cost less
loved the company and being inspired by everyone's projects.............
chain piecing for Chapel Street
worked on Starburst............
made a big mess.........with Susan's help.....
more food.........chocolate mug cake and macadamia icecream..........
channeled Janet...........please note a tiny ruler........
although the pieces maybe to big for her liking..........I may also regret this when I start to size them up......
came home a day earlier then planned and missed a sleep over with Annette.........
Had a stunning glow for yesterday's sunrise...........
Also enjoyed 2 inches of rain and hoping for a few more - lets see if we can fill the dam...........unbelievably we have rain forecast for the next week..........it is possible.....
Have a great weekend..........
I'll be watching the grass grow.......It's a sight to behold..........
Catch you later.....

Just what I needed.............

I've been writing this post all week.........anyway better late than never.......
I decided that I needed to have some time with friends so zoom was the solution.....saved driving anywhere and where was I going to go anyway......zoom involves no driving........
I worked on this kit that a friend sent me...........It's a pattern from the book Jelly Roll Jam.......
i'll share more another day but I think I am taking that one to retreat with me if I don't start sewing it before then..........still more cutting to do..........this was just the fabric sections worked out.......1/2 of the strips are cut into their required cuts now.......
massive excitement of Saturday morning was twins.............
Bridget has twins........proud Ma here........I did share some pics and a little video when I was online with the girls............they were only maybe 6hrs old here............trying to work out drinking........funny to watch as Bridget is trying to encourage them but keeps turning around to look at them and moving around in cycles.........lol
Mr Bluetongue was out and about..........I tried to take a little video of him but I missed him poking his tongue out.......its so blue.......
I was a bit lost and I really just wanted to sew and not think so I pulled out this jelly roll........
Simplicity by 3 Sisters........they have such pretty fabrics.......
I decided to make a jelly roll race quilt.........let me tell you this was no race unless it was between snails but of I loved it..........
I used Fairy Girls new machine and it was lovely..........
(it's a few years old now but I had not used it)
So pretty............
Even the pile on the floor was pretty............
But I did get it finished before I left zoom..........thanks friends I sure felt better after that time together..........and your support was greatly appreciated.........
<<<<<<<<<<<>>NOW TO THIS WEEKEND>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I wanted to find some fabrics for borders.......
so I pulled out two boxes of pretties...........
BUT what I found was another quilt I started a very long time ago.......maybe now it is an antique???
long before I knew of standard block sizes........more on that another day.......
BUT I started cutting fabrics to finish that quilt instead because in order to finish the jelly roll quilt I need to sort what fabrics I will use in the "antique" quilt............
I cut lots of squares for the blocks............and I just realised I am so dumb as I need 2 squares for all the blocks to be finished so I need to cut heaps more...........lucky I have not put them away yet...........
Finally Bridget made her way around the back of the house this morning with her babies..........they have grown heaps in the week.........both boys and no they do not have names.........they will be sold in a year......they will be referred to as Bridgets boys........
Apologies for those who join zoom as your not really getting any notice when I will pop on but I just take a chance and jump on when I grab a chance..........
thanks to those who have joined in...........even if I was getting a bit of a ribbing this morning from a couple.........no names mentioned but Betty and Lou may know who that was............LOL
Ok must go back to study now.........
It's a lovely sunny day here.......not to hot, not to cold and not blowing a gale..........the weather is ridiculous lately..........some beautiful gentle soaking rain is desperately needed..........
Catch you later........

Scrub Stitchin'.......what did I sew????

So just to show I did get "Something" sewn while at Scrub Stitchin'..........
This flannel quilt was mostly made by the happy recipient wrapped in it here...........the first job I did at Scrub Stitchin' was to finish this binding and thanks to a couple of the girls it was a team effort........
Sadly the red chenille ran badly when it got washed so now it is a shade of pink.........its been washed several times with every option I can think of....no luck returning it to the nice fresh colours......
anyway the recipient is still happy with it............
Then wanting to achieve something I decided to do a Jelly roll race quilt.........this spurred several others to make quilts also....digging in there stash and finding jelly rolls..........
Here it is finished......I joined it with 2.5in squares but I think I prefer the diagonal joins............
Once that was done I had found some webbing and ribbons while packing things for the retreat so decided to use up what I had........
Heres the pile  of keyfob's with a few made - I need to order more metal parts..........any one brought them lately????
Why did I make them??? Presents, sell some whatever...........
A lot of time was taken up with EPP lessons........I love sharing skills and we had quiet a few who had not done EPP before and the group project which I am yet to share was using EPP.........
got a bit of mine completed also............I have one more melon piece to attached but it had to be re-glued and I finally found my glue stick a couple of nights ago.......thats what happens when you pack everything up in a rush.......
I had a gorgeous pretty bundle of fabrics from Jude and I started playing with a pattern in my own head that I had started to draw up but no cutting instructions just cutting as I went it was a little hard with so much going on so I got to what you see below and another small section and I gave up..........

I am liking what I see but I will work on it quietly alone one day........
When I can spread out even more and make a big mess choosing what fabric I want to put where........
Then distracted by Sue @ Kiwikids Page and Helen who had both brought Drunkards Path precut kits from our little onsite shop.......I was wandering the shop and saw a pack of fabric I thought I would like..........and woops just like that I was making a Drunkards Path..........probably the only way I will make one as not bothered to get the templates and cut one myself............
Making progress..........Sue's on the left and mine on the right.............
was great watching them grow.........
they are pretty easy to sew and you can see Sue's here on her blog..........
Here it is stuck on the makeshift design wall..........not sure if this is the final setting but I don't mind it..........there is enough baby drunkards to make another block and make it 5x5 instead of 6x4.............
then it was all over and everything packed up except my sewing mess.........I have lots of pics from show and tell and probably others on the camera but yet to down load them.........must do that this week..........camera was missing for abit and I found it last night.........
Anyway that's it for now......
It's been a glorious autumn weekend........
Catch you later..........

Weekend at Kates..........

Such a fun time with Kate @ Show and Tell a few weeks ago.............very busy since but catching up with posts..............
very kindly an offline friend Cheryl gave me some fabrics.........I thought  it would be great to use one of the jelly rolls she gave me for a good cause....spread the love......we choose Chelsea Boutique.......
Kate was forced came on board for this second quilt for the Dungog floods........
She did all the sewing as I could not get the right seam allowance on her machine and I cut and ironed............as Kate says it was pretty much a sweat shop while we made the quilt..........each pushing each other along.........
Kate really wanted to keep the quilt.......we both love the colours............
4.30 the blocks were all laid out and ready to start joining.......auditioning some boarders...........
by 10.30pm we were done..........that includes socialising with Bloom and a dinner break...........
the dark brown narrow border framed it well.........

The quilt has now made it's way to Jan @ Red Shed Quilting who very kindly offered to quilt it at no cost.............
We had a little break out shopping and found this great backing fabric.......would be perfect on my blue lanterns quilt...........I agree but left it there........Kate holding it while I snapped a pic to remember the fabric.............
Enjoyed the beautiful autumn colours while in the cooler climate too.............
And her camellia plant was loaded with flowers..............
thank  Kate for having Fairy Girl and me for a sleep over..........
we had a great time in the "studio shed".........
Catch you later.......
