enjoying the moments.......

Well the last week's been pretty chilly as they predicted....... Love getting a dose of winter....... Need to feel all the seasons..........

It was crispy in the Chookshed when I heeded out Sunday morning....... The room was 7 deg C so I turned the air con on and headed back inside to get ready to zoom.........

The first light glow above the silos as I was getting started on zoom....... How pretty is that....... Trying to stop and find the special moments in life..... Sometimes we are just too busy to stop and take the moment to pause......

Stop look and tell me what you find when you really look ....... 

I worked on binding a quilt ....   Sorry I forgot to take any pics....... Thankyou to those who joined....... We had a nice catch up as usual.........

this was my lawn in Saturday arvo....... It has hardly had a frost on it and it's late July......... It did get some yesterday but really it hasn't been very frosty this winter at all so far...... Mr Chooky mowed this patch........ It looked so good, so then on Sunday I mowed heaps until..........the wheel feel off......... Oops

Yep it really feel off....... Need to wait to get some parts at the shop a few hours away......... But I did get some of the outer wilds tamed........

All the natural things flowering were only in yellow........

but all different and very pretty.......I have a few more but I'll try get better photos.......

Checking out some of the teenagers........ They are doing well........

And Lambie wanted to know what was happening and came up to me and wanted a pat........ She's getting older now but she still lives with the cows.........

bits of this and that...........

 Our part of the world sure is chilly at present............icey winds.........snow in some of the once a year or two snow places..........

We've had quite a few foggy days.............so thick and wet you need the windscreen wipers on.................

I had a couple of zoom sessions on the weekend as it was not nice weather wise............so good to spend some time on self care sewing and socialising..............I worked on a flannel quilt............sorry cannot share photos here yet............lovely to see those who were on..........they were very quiet..........lol............I know that may surprise some............

I've found some cool fungi while out fencing and wood cutting.............

This orange one I always love to find...........I feel like its a bonus as its so rare that I get to see it............but its grown around the little twigs here also.............

the patterns inside the hollow logs are works of art............

And finally here's a piece of wood that I put into the fire last night............

glad I stopped and took the photos before I threw it in the fire..............

a new retreat..........

Well we put the information out last night and it has filled very quickly..............

So a spontaneous idea at the workshop on the weekend grew very fast..........

bit of a muck around with some of the accommodation but we are sorted.........

I cannot wait..........

It's a retreat I am hosting with Deb from The Crafters Cottage...........

Starting Friday morning thru til Sunday afternoon it will be a great time to sew and chat with like minded people and make some new friends........

OMG blink and it will be here........

PS I'm a little excited............

a month.......

 wow where has the time gone............a month since I blogged last..........it's been a busy month..........I've had some extra days off here and there.........finished my course I started  - its been 12 months.........yippee........I've been a bit extra social..........few things on in town.........

Diane @ The Sloan Patch came to stay for the weekend...........it got a little extended due to some rain.............

We had a great time together...........she was supposed to be here for the Chookshed birthday but it was too wet then.............better late then never....... 

We did play with the quilting frame........that was a not so good...............but we sorted a few things out...........jury is still out if I will keep this or not...........

I got the binding on a couple of quilts.................

I went to The Crafters Cottage for a couple of workshops.............

Danni was teaching and I had a great time.............

First day I did an orange peel workshop..........I choose some scraps from my box to play with as I was undecided if I wanted to machine or hand stitch..........I choose machine.......... 

The mountains looked amazing...........those green crops on the left were so vibrant............

The second day I did free motion quilting..........

I tried a few things but I did best at rulers late in the day...........I will keep trying though............

I am completely zoned out when trying to get the pattern in my head to FMQ...........

You might recognise Mrs Amazing across the table from me...........

Yep Janice@Jannimary and Di (another Di from Scrub Stitchin) were also at the workshop but I missed getting a photo..........Janice was going AMAZING............

where did the week go???

 Well I am not sure where the week has gone...............

But here its Saturday afternoon again and the week has whizzed past once again...........

No sewing.........

BUT it's a long weekend and I just made my Slow Cooker Salsa Chicken which I know Janet @ Rogue Quilter has made a few times..must have been someone else so tell me if it was you..........It's been ages since I made it and the weather has been perfect for slow cooker cooking...........

I just added a few bits to the recipe and you can find the link here for the recipe............

Also while I was at it I finished my Fried Rice recipe and posted to Chookyblue's Cooking.........I don't know anyone who makes it like me but it was the way I was taught at high school............need to get a better photo but hey it's the taste that counts.........

It's been a cold wet week...........after all the rain Friday into Saturday we got more rain on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday...........50-59mm here for the week and the road has been interesting to say the least....more slippery...........couple of huge fogs in the mornings which we rarely get also to make driving to work interesting as visibility was 50-100m.........

very quiet long weekend here so who knows if I do a spontaneous zoom...........I have a few other things to do and just enjoy some down time...........maybe some friends might drop in but no one staying.........was thinking an evening bonfire but the night dew if way to heavy for that.........

Who loves the magic of a milk thistle at this stage above............such a fleeting moment, one breeze and it's blown away..........

Great excitement when I found a few bits of oats had shot...........Lots has probably been way too wet as some has had water on it for the week......I'll have a look at it again on Monday........

The creek looked pretty tonight..........and it was perfectly still so lovely reflections......

I've nicknamed this one the dragon log......can you see that or maybe I should call it the croc log..........

PS I got distracted and hadn't finished proofreading this post and now its a few hours later........cut some wood with Mr Chooky as we had none left for the fire...........I have started a new secret project............OMG i'm having so much fun...........so I am stitchin'......shock to the system......lol......

Chookshed 12th Birthday........

A nice crew came thru the door for a washed out Chookshed party.........

I was pretty disappointed I had to can the real visitor plans once again so thanks to those who dropped in  today........sadly that's 3 years in a row..........39mm of rain all up.........

Maybe next year the stars will align.............wet, mum sick, wet!!!!!!

Technically it was still May at Deana's so I worked on the kiwi birds that I was to make for May's Chookshed Challenge............

To say I had a few challenges is an understatement............

my brain was not even working today so that was not helping at all............

there may have also been some curse words..........

So for now it will only be 2 kiwi's.............

they are pretty cute........and yes you know I needed to make them blue........

 a fun night.............I worked on a attaching the stripe to some more blocks..............no joining blocks  yet..............

Friday before the rain I mowed and mowed and mowed everywhere...............I did some whipper snipping also and I am still paying for it but its so nice to see the outer outer garden yard all neat............even got carried away outside the fence............
And no aurora pics as we were cloudy...........
another inch of rain overnight Friday night.............It's pretty wet in the paddocks.........
not good for the other type of sowing........
good weather to be tucked up inside and its nice to be a bit cooler.............

This little bird decided to test out the glass door on the Chookshed...........I did check to see if it was stunned but no its dEaD.............opps.........

the last couple of years its been pretty sad...............

2022 cancelled due to rain....tooooo wet for my friends to get in........thank goodness I had a zoom version.......not the same as the girls here in real life............

2023 I had the online version a week earlier and then I had to cancel the girls coming to stay as mum got seriously ill.............

What will 2024 hold...........it will be the 12th birthday.............not that shes got to celebrate the last couple properly.............

2021 was a full house........see here......

Maybe it's 3rd time lucky???

We always have a great quilt "show and tell" at Scrub Stitchin'..... This year i said no folding up between each quilt.....Takes to long...... Look at the mountain on the table behind me.............

Sue has a lovely quilt too by the way...........

Having something finished is a great motivation for some to get a few more things over the line..............

One night near the full moon the moon and clouds looks pretty cool.............

Phones are pretty amazing now days............

I finally had a count up on zoom how many Chapel Street blocks I have...............well believe it or not this in 260..............I have another 40 with the stripe on also and the quilt size 66x66 says you need 288............I have another large pile of pieces cut and that is great as I want a big quilt.............

So mine will be big..........

It was a nice small group on Saturday morning/Friday evening on the flip side............

It was a cool, cloudy, WET Saturday.............

We've had 2 inches this weekend..........wonderful..............
