Blueberry Pie Quilt

7/9 the quilt show continues..........this one was finished week before last.......still catching up on posts..........
Blueberry Pie was started at another Nundle retreat back in 2007........woops 15 years later
the pattern is from The Pattern Basket - Butterscotch Pie
Me being me had to change it to BLUEberry pie..........
Started here it uses the tri rec rulers..........
Progress was made once I got home from retreat but pretty sure it then got shoved into a bag with frustration and tossed aside for way too long until once again the crazy sewing frenzy post Christmas 2017 came to the rescue.............see here
The Tri Rec rulers let you create a curved effect without curved seams............
I found a link to them here
I went down the creek again but this time I got attacked by mozzies so this was a very quick photo shoot.........(this was before last weeks rain they are worse now)
sunset just after the photo shoot..............
Lucky I had the quilt in a bag as I dumped it on a fence post while I went and moved some sheep.............
This tree was a great tree to hang a quilt on but I had to stand on the bike..............
then the grass was very long and it was warm and I was wary of snakes so I then moved the bike around to try and find the right angle to take the pics..............and then line up with the log again to get the quilt off............also hoping you don't fall off the side off the side of the bike reaching up to the log.........OMG the things i do............
I did find two great logs but this first one was even worse for mozzies so I left it.............
12 pies all baked........ready to keep someone warm...............
Started 2007 finished 2022
Quilted by Betty Field
Fabric - mixed

farm and binding.........

Not in any real order of events but here's some pics I've taken in the last few weeks..........
Today will be cloudy again........we had about 37mm here yesterday..........maybe a little misty shower but I think that will be it until Saturday..........so nice not to have to think about driving to town for work with the rain...........
there's been some gorgeous sunsets.........even annoying Mr Chooky to stop driving so I can take pics............
hidden locations.........
the colours........
a patch on the farm clearly I have never been in in a good season..........the grasses are so long.......maybe 4-5ft..........It was interesting trying to ride a bike in here...........
it was pretty cool thought I felt like I had gone to another world..........it was very enchanting for me and I could go in there and stay all day............
there's been misty scuds around prior to the good rain...........
this little fellow was pretty new working in the yards..........
this girls are in great condition............fatty boom booms............
Mr Serious or should I say Master Serious......lets just say I was not trusting him.......hes like a rebellious teenager.......you don't know whats coming next..............
the dams are all full..........wonderful site..........
I love following along a mob of cows............
And this sunflower would have to be the biggest I have ever seen.............the grasses around it are 3-4 ft deep..........I would say it would be 9-10ft high..........the only one I could see anywhere........
this bubba was dropped in the yards..........it was still wet where I took this pic...........

this is the binding pile..........having knocked over the 2 quilts (posts to come) that had binding attached I have all these to work on............it's all cut just needs to be joined and attached the the quilt..............
I did this one first at a friends random colour choice.............
its a job I hate attaching binding............
but the job was so much easier once I changed the foot to the accufeed foot............just goes to show how long since I have done this I forgot what foot to use..............dopey...........
Then its the nervous part of making sure you have not caught any other quilt up underneath when trimming the edges..............
that's 3 prepped to hand sew the bind down.........I have started on the orange one..........
BUT right now I am going out to do another one............
&&&&
I do love being up close with my quilts again and it is like the beginning of the end hand sewing the binding down..........its like saying farewell to your quilt.........admiring the design, the colours, going thru the reasons why you made the quilt.........bringing back the memories of where the fabric came from...........who you were with either shopping or sewing the top.........who quilted it.......finding those last loose bits of thread........the weight and feel of the quilt......
Am I just odd or do you think about this when binding???
Actually don't answer that I know I am odd..............
BUT do you think about the above when binding????

Nundle Retreat Report.............

Well after about a 4 hours drive we arrived at Nundle..........checked out the shops that were open and window shopped in the ones that weren't...........headed out the Cottage on the Hill to see Kerry and picked out which quilts we wanted to make...............this took a little while....lots of what about this......will I do that.....what about this in those colours..............ho hum.......finally a decision.....
We were just leaving to head back into town and this storm came up..............not in town for long and a pretty good hail storm hit............lucky no dints in the cars..................beautiful dinner and into bed..........
Madly sewing all day and a little cutting..........Kerry does lots of cutting for us which is wonderful.........finished up for the day and I caught up with Kerry for awhile and had a bit of blog talk as we are the only 2 there with blogs............(generally speaking I think some people think we are crazy women and some just don't get it..... so we had a chat together on our own)
.............nice dinner again and into bed the earliest ever for a Nundle weekend........
....Sunday more sewing and here are the results so far at the end of the day.......I do have lots of blocks finished.need to piece some rows together.................
My group Janet, me, Gillian, Bronwyn and Pam
the other group from everywhere (sorry girls) - Jennifer, Tanya, Jeannie, Diana, Doreen, Judy and Kate...........nice to meet you all again and some new faces...............
Then another 4 plus hours driving home just missing a few roos and some cows and home safe..........is it worth it absolutely YES!!!!!!
Thanks Kerry for a wonderful weekend............see you next year..............
