our project..........Part 6

Our project this year was designed by a friend of Diane's - Debbie............
I had been thinking about some shashiko........
Debbie came up with these pincushions...........
She had a friend turn the timber bases for us.........
three sizes so it was luck of the draw what size you ended up with.........
Harriett got started first.........
She enjoyed the shashiko so much she brought a kit for a project for a different project I had been making as I liked it and wanted a another one to make hence why I had a spare kit..........
I'll be able to get another one another day..........
But I think she started sewing it on the way home in the car
Very pretty........even coordinating the pins she used in it.......
Mary was next and she brought an extra base and made two...........Debbie had included fabric to either do the shashiko or some other nice fabrics which is what Mary chose to use.........they look great also.......
Also see Mary's pretty name badge..........Jenny made those for us.........
Much appreciated Jenny.......
Lea started late one night and sat and stitched chatting to me while she stitched away........
Here's her finished cushion.........
A great quick project..........now to think what to do for 2023.........
What would you like as a quick project at retreat???
Catch you later..........

PS I got another binding finished last night.........at this rate of posts and stuff to share it maybe posted by next weekend..........I'll take it for a photo shoot today......

11 years on.....................

Monday 19th Feb..........
11 years ago it was also Monday 19th Feb 2007...........
It has been one of joy, connection, friendship................
I have met some amazing lovely special people virtually and some eventually in real life........
I dream of a world trip to meet some of my friends overseas...........
I've been inspired to try different things, different techniques, colours,
its been the fun of swaps, Stitch-a-longs, blog meets, virtual retreats,
But the most important thing is you out there reading...............while this is a record for me of my life on here..........
If you didn't stop read and comment I would probably not be here..............
I love the connections I have made with like minded people...........
something I didn't have here where I live and still don't really...........
So I thank you my readers..........
my wonderful virtual friends........

(right pic borrowed from Kerri)
On Friday night the bloggers had a swap..............I did 2 swaps.........I knew JoJo - Dzintras daughter wanted to join in so I did a swap between us.........it was fun getting a parcel together for her.........

The swap was the same as what we have done at the Bathurst Blog meets

Fake it (too busy so you buy a present)
Bake it (cooking etc)
I received from Shez..............she faked it but also made something..........bit of a mix......

I had actually paid Kerry too much money for GDITC soI had some spending money and I got this jelly roll book I have been eyeing off for quite some time.............and a bit of Anni Downs fabric.............
guess who scored the left over lemon slice from Shez...............lucky me.........
some fabrics from a couple of besties..............thanks girls.........
This is a lovely parcel my friend Carole in the USA sent to me a little while ago...........but it's where all the troubles started with Kerri regarding the magazine......lol.......but thankfully a lady called Chris had a copy for her........thanks so much Chris...............

sewing kit, drought feeding, Fairy Girl Sewing.........

Last weekend was heaven..................Sat especially was max 27..............hasn't been that cool for 3 months............and the night was great too......coolest for 2 months.............no fans, no air cons, just a gorgeous day (well if it can't rain) So I got some time in the chook shed sewing...........
I made up this sewing kit for the people affected by the Dunalley Fires
We had some essentials to include in the parcel (top left pic) plus a stitchery not included in pic and then add something extra.........
I included some cards and other sewing bits and bobs...........
While some parts of the country have had rain in crazy amounts causing much devastation we haven't had any........well 2.5 inchs in 6 months won't do anything....
..especially during the heat we have had.............except lots of drought feeding.............
hungry cows following the hay bale.............until they discovered the one already out for them and then they took off..............
For long time blog readers that's Curly Pops (the red one) in the middle............

then it was onto the sheep..........
big clear skys with no rain...........
it's pretty depressing out in the paddocks..........
another mob running into the feed cart..............
just waiting for the stragglers to come in..............
happy now with oats to eat.........
I caught my leg on the feed bin..............you should see the bruise - actually I won't scare you with it............
Fairy Girl got some sewing done last weekend too..........she made these for her friends.........
they can put little bits in them............hair bands etc............
love the owl fabrics I got at spotlight........
.....wished I had more it's so cute but I only have a fat quarter............
have a great weekend................I have a special visitor coming............more on that later..........hoping we will get some sewing done...........but right now I have no power for 2 hours so I better get off here as it's going off in about 10 mins..............
But thankfully it won't be off all day cause it's supposed to be 36 here today............
Have a great weekend.............
Catch you later..............
