Zoom Australia Day....

A little slow on the blogging front...... But I had another wonderful day zoom sewing....... Australia Day up bright and early to link up with the Canadians and Americans on the other side of the world catching them in their afternoon....... New Zealanders are often early too being a few hours ahead of me..... Sylvia in Germany is just in all sorts of hours...... Often going to bed and popping back up again to rejoin us.......
Last zoom a few of us were discussing our zoom sewing project....... Some have been working on the same project each time. I have mostly worked on blue lanterns except for the last zoom. At that time I did decide I would try and make this epp project my zoom project.....It's mostly what I have sewn on zoom days......so that's where I started adding to the three pieces below..........
I added another 8 blocks to this section........ sorry no photo of that........but.....
This is what the quilt was up to prior to starting the sewing day......
This is what it looked like after...... I added that section I was working on in the morning to the bottom left side.....I also had another section together from previous sewing days and added it to the top right........ I can see heaps of progress on this quilt due to zoom sewing days.......well they are marathon sewing sessions usually for me........this time I sewed for 12 hrs......thanks for the encouragement girls.......
The only problem with the day is my power failed for a few hours...... But the girls hung in there and I finally got back on.......too dam hot a day for no power but nothing I could do about it......
Anyway it was another wonderful day connecting with my blog buddies.......
Til next time.....Stay safe........
Catch you later..........

can't believe I've been sewing......

Well folks don't drop dead with shock...........I've been sewing.........on the machine....
Before we go into the details I have to share one of my favorite pincushions........those were left over scraps and my girl sewed them together and made this tiny pincushion......it's only about 3 inchs long i think......and it holds my forked pins which I also love joining seams......
So I cut this quilt out months ago and it's even been laid out on the design wall ready to sew......the urge to sew just had not been there even though it was ready to go........
I cut into the French Generals and had them laid out on the floor and as I put that quilt top together I used this one as my leader/ender and woohoo I have now got a 1/4 of the quilt top together.....
It's like a good book I can't put it down now so maybe I'll try make a block each day before work...........
too hot after work to go into the Chookshed.....
I was in the shed early this morning and the sun caught this wall hanging.........
"Friends make each day a new beginning filled with wonder and joy"
This is part of the FG quilt that needs a name by the way......
It's finished........BUT I will show the girls on zoom first tomorrow morning........
(let me know if you want to join us)
Tonight we had dessert which is rare........Bread and Butter pudding......
very delicious and will be making another one again soon.......

mystery......

What do you do when you find a bundle of fabric tucked away in a box..... In a snap lock bag on its own....... I have a feeling it was for a specific project.... But really can't remember..... Anyone else have this problem?
I'm in the Chookshed. Been cleaning and tidying. It's going to be a hot day so not sure if I'll last out here all day.....
But now things are a little more tidied I might cut into those French general fabrics...... That I've been fondling.....

bits and pieces.....

Just had a quick weekend away at friends.
I'm not a beach person but I love the views..........
Sitting on their back deck with a wine, pool views and a lovely breeze chatting with my friends I finished this Lucy block and started another one...............
we have a new poddy........he's pretty quiet..........going well on the bottle..........
some great sunsets lately........big sky land where I live.............
Another view from a look out while away........it was pretty clear and we could see so far away..........
Tia Gorge.........very rugged country..........
and I found a gorgeous patchwork shop.......Stitched and Framed.......I needed a few more pinky reds to go into the quilt design I am planning.........these are the ones I had plus a few more I dug out of the stash and the new ones all together.......great shop she even cut fat 1/4's for me as I needed that size to cut the blocks.....I think I brought even more when she said that wasn't an issue and didn't have to do the minimum 1/2 metre cut to get what I needed.........I will be going back...........
I've got a extra long weekend as we have a holiday Tuesday for Australia Day and I took Monday as leave. Might try for a zoom sewing day Monday or Tuesday (my time)......anyone keen.........I'll let you know if I am definitely going ahead........plans are a bit vague here for the weekend......but I'm hoping to sew at some stage...........
Stay safe.........

dreaming....

So I ironed these lovely French General fabrics and thinking of some kind of big block quilt to show off the lovely prints........I think I could have some more FG fabrics tucked away so must do a quick search to see what I find............I actually have 2 fat1/4s of each print......
I think two families of emu babies must have combined as there was only one adult emu with this group of I think 15 young ones.........they are darker younger and a little smaller then the adult still at this stage.......they had walked up to the fence a bit from where they were......they are really inquisitive......
Have a great Sunday.......some domestic duties then time with Fairy Girl..........maybe we will end up out in the Chookshed to prep something........maybe not......see what happens......
Stay Safe.....

wet start....

So those girls who were on early in zoom on new years day may remember me mentioning I had a couple of light showers. Really it was only 1.5mm all up but it was cloudy all day.........
Yesterday was building up in the afternoon. I really thought I was going to cop some storms all afternoon...nothing happened......but I went to bed and woke up late to a storm.........
53mm of rain it was pretty heavy.......what a great start to 2021..........
I have another family of Willy Wagtails that will be leaving the nest in the next few days.........
The last of the storm clouds that passed over.........but the sun is shining today........
Yesterday I got the lawns mown........so pleased i did but I think I will need to mow them again tomorrow with the storm rain it grows so fast..........what a great problem.........
Today I was supposed to catch up with some friends but I will stay put now......the creek is up too......
Sewing, bookwork and I will need to spray some edges the weeds are like triffids.......
Stay safe........
Catch you later........

new years day fun

Wow what a way to see in the first day of the year.........it started on a high......
15hours of zoom sewing with my blog friends......
Mostly all still blogging which is wonderful........
I worked on my Miss Elizabeth quilt who has not seen the light of day for a long time........was great to get the light strips on each side of this piece..........They are over 1 metre in length..........I finished this up and had to make a mad dash to the Chookshed for more sewing and found Lucy..........well LucyII to be exact.......forgot to take a pic but I found 4 blocks cut prepared so I choose one of those.
I think this time we had 16 at the most on at one time.........some pop in for a long time......some for a shorter time and some in and out a few times.......it's what ever works...........27 of us in total...........be brave and join us if you like next time......it's not exclusive........but it is for sewing/crafty bloggers..........
I have a list of everyone with blog links on the sidebar.......only the bottom 5 weren't in yesterday.....
I was starting to fade about 8pm and Janet @ Rogue Quilter USA who had left us many hours earlier popped back in.......I said omg what are you doing here what time it is.........she said it was 2am and she was finally going to bed but thought would those girls really still be online??????
Well hello we were........well maybe 4-5 of us......it was very funny.......she could not believe we were still here sewing and chatting....Sylvia in Germany was even back with us as she had popped away for a few hours sleep............anyway we all chatted for another couple hours.........I think I stopped sewing just after 9pm. I know when I am away next I will be looking for a better sewing light.......it's fine sewing in the Chookshed with the fluro lights but my sewing lights just don't cut it inside anymore......bit too warm light.......need a cooler light that will be much more brighter.......
Anyway our group had a real international mix especially earlier in the day......but with so many different time zones discussions on what meal time it is for others.......what covid restrictions are in place.......what traditions people have for Christmas..........what changed this year........what projects people were working on and a million other topics I am sure were discussed........
THANKYOU girls for making my start to the year so much fun........

OK must go mow the jungle that I call lawn.......really with the storms around it needed to be mown a day or 2 ago...........
Happy New Year...........
Stay safe.......
