EPP link up.....

Linking up with Hibiscus Stitches once again..........

Actually will be good to do this fortnightly and update my EPP progress...........I hadn't been organised on the right day until last fortnight when I linked up...........but I shared the start of my new quilt..........Miss Elizabeth.......

I found a new to me blogger The Village Quilter and since then she has been to a quilt show and brought the pattern and started herself.............we've had lots of emails back and forwards discussing the quilt..........and then we set a goal to work on to link up this fortnight.........

2 rows of hexies joined into a strip.........

well here they are all ready.......

I've also got this box of goodies cut  and organised for gluing...........when I get a chance I can just grab them and start gluing.........

and block 6 of the Shiralee Stitches Lucy Boston BOM arrived and it's all together...........my middle is slightly different as I angled the shape a bit different then I put the outside point to the inside..........

Ok thats it for today...........more fun to report but that will have to wait..............

Anzac Day 2015.......

Major commemorations today on the 100th anniversary of the landing at Gallipoli

Thank god I live in a country free of war...........

Record crowds have turned out to show respect for all current and past servicemen and women who have fought for the freedom we have today.......

I have always attended ANZAC ceremonies as I lost a great uncle in the Battle of the Somme World War 1...........

Quilts needed please............

Remember I did the Caring with Quilts  project with the CWA.............it all started with this post and the request for a few quilts was rapidly turned into hundreds..........They were given to the people who were effected by the Warrumbungles Fire in 2013....

Well sadly we are a land of extremes and now my friend Jewells is going to get some quilts together for her friend Colleen and family from the small town of Dungog which took the brunt of the flooding in the recent storms...........if she has excess quilts (which I am sure will) she is going to give to other people in the community effected...............

She has asked for quilts single bed size or larger............
and she would also only be asking for quilts suitable for adults...........
male and female quilts..............

several people lost homes but many were flooded..................

Hope you can help..............my bloggy friends were very generous for the Caring with Quilts project so I am hoping some of you can help out the people of Dungog.

thankfully Jewells is fine and not effected but it was a worry for days as they had no communication with the outside world so to hear from her yesterday once she was back on the air was great.....

Calling Russia...........

Hi bloggy friends...........

every so often I look at my stats...........more often just to see where people are come from.....still amazes me that my little spot in the web is viewed around the world........

when I looked today I have had LOTS of visitors from Russia.........

but I don't hear from any bloggers from Russia so who's out there reading............

what country are you from..........

also amazes me the amount of visits to the blog I have compared to the number of comments..............

people don't comment as much as they used to that is for sure............

I love the interaction of comments and emails back and forwards.........

that is how I have made many friends online around the world.......

i'm sure if I wanted to I could blog hop my way around the world no worries staying with my online friends...........

Fairy Girls creations.....

In the Christmas holidays Fairy Girl just wanted to play in the scraps..........she just wanted to sew bits of fabric together.............the pile of scraps is a fairly varied.......plus some scraps from a few other fiends it is pretty eclectic.......

She kept sewing.............and sewing and sewing...........little bits making bigger bits........

scraps from so many projects..........even some of Jindi's scraps from her SKofW SAL quilt........a piece of green fabric that Jenny @ Bird on the Border brought with her last week as she knows she loves green......some of the backing that she had on her very first quilt............playing with a mini twister...........

This holidays she finally got the top finished............

It's about 70 x 80inchs........

she used lots of scraps but OMG I see no difference with the scrap box.............

now what to do about the quilting................

one of her friends had a birthday recently..............she wanted a tree..............

Fairy Girl started this one Sunday afternoon and had it finished Monday morning..........

She has raw edge appliqued the pieces down...........

wished I could work so free of thoughts.........she just cut the pieces out with scissors and put them on...........I only helped with the binding lesson.....we actually used a full piece of fabric on the back and folded back onto the front and stitched down..........I had to show her how to stitch it down...........

another recent finish is this cushion.............love the hedgehog.............

shes been busy busy.........learning and creating different things all the time..........

bound by no rules or expectation...........

and a pic of the keets yesterday..........still super cute......

Rain rain rain.....

Wow...........after a freezing cold day yesterday (well for us) we would not normally get rain like we did...........it rained most of the night and we have 38mls  of rain..........plus the 13mls from the weekend so just over 2 inchs in total............just wonderful and it is raining still here now...........

Boy Wonder lit the fire on Sunday night..............

Supposed to be working today but I am having a rainy wet not going to work day.........so doing some jobs in the chookshed.........went for a walk earlier and the creek is flooding..........with the drought it has been so long since I have seen it like this............

WONDERFUL.............

Hope all those east of the Great Divide stay safe but the weather sounds very wild and wooly there........

I'm just enjoying watching the rain fall....snuggled up inside......it's freezing outside.........

keets update...........

The baby keets are going very well.........

8 went in with Mum in the cage.........

the "dead" one fluffed it's wings when we were catching the others and is doing very well now........can't hardly tell it from the other good one that went under the house.........as the "dead" one bounced back to life we decided it was not good enough to go back with Mum........possible could now but my Pop always said stick them in after dark...........well I am not so keen to take on Mother Guinea fowl as she is one protective cranky mother and I am NOT going into her cage.............

Killing time.....

Thank goodness for my portable cutting mat.....I got it when I was in Cobar last school holidays.....I have used it so much...... Cutting some hexies for Miss Elizabeth......should be able to cut 175 from this bundle of fabric.... Hope I get them done this arvo..... Thank goodness I have something to do to kill the time...... You can only shop so much....... Chookyblue.....

I'm a mumma..........

after all the thoughts of wether we did or didn't have a male ginea fowl well clearly we must................AND finally we have baby keets........yes guinea fowl babies are called keets...........

This is mumma yesterday........pretty much the view from my lounge......

this morning the guinea fowl were carring on crazy and I looked out and saw mumma was not on the nest and I saw little things moving OMG OMG OMG............

the guinea fowl were carrying on as there was a kookaburra and butcher bird hanging around.........

the 3 other guinea fowl were hanging around to help protect the babies..........

They have hatched 10 babies.........we caught Mumma and all the babies.......1 went under the house......1 was pretty flat so when we caught the one from under the house we kept it with the flat one...........Fairy Girl is playing mother today but we will probably keep them in a box  with a heat light.......if we couldn't catch mumma we were going to raise the keets but Mumma was super protective and wanted to kill us so we were able to catch her in a net and put her and the babies in a cage.............

I'll try and get another pic for you of the babies.............

Block no 4 of my Lucy Boston BOM from Shiralee Stitches.........I was stalled on the blue points and just could not get it like Sandy's but I am happy with it anyway..........

And block no 5 done too.........

 Here they all are together MINUS THE STOLEN ONE...........yes STOLEN by my "friend" Who shall remain nameless....

yes yes I will get it back but not for another month........she stole it at GDITC....

not like I need another project but I have started another EPP project......

Miss Elizabeth by Carol Roberts of Cherry Pie Designs.........I am hoping not to buy anything for this quilt..........we'll see how I go............

while tidying up fabrics/scraps I have cut out some hexies to make a start..............

Another 6 Blue Lantern blocks done............my very slow EPP project............

this is the pile I have to add to the quilt........pretty close to all the blue blocks done now I think.....

And not EPP but while shopping at Shiralee Stitches I got this lovely pincushion pattern........

NJ SAL and more info for the note boards............

Here we go the blocks for Nature Journey Stitch-a-long..............

These ones are 12 days late but the good news is I am well on the way for April............

Already got one block done and working on another tonight..........

Mary Ann (I can't contact you) asked about the note boards...............
This is the one I was given..........
It's just a photo frame with something great under the glass..........
we used fabric in Fairy Girls and this one is hessian and fussy cut little beach houses 

you can buy these liquid chalk textas and they write on the glass and you just wipe it off..........
much nicer then a white board........and a lot easier to clean off..........
they come in several colours too...........
I updated mine today for the month and can cross a few things off already...........

I'll never have a notice board long enough for all the projects I have on the go but hey if I pick a few things to work on each month I have a target to work towards..........

More Fairy Girl.....

Fairy Girl has made some note board frames......inspired by mine hers are in 8x10in frames.....

took awhile to pick the backgrounds but they look great and I think her friends are going to love them.............

nice presents.........

And while I ordered something she wanted online she cooked dinner...........the scrambled eggs took step by step instructions but she got there................

WAY too much sauce but who can complain when it has a heart and thanks with 

smiley face and XX.............she sure does bring smiles to my face........even when she talked non stop for about 2 hours yesterday about NOTHING...............

Natures Journey Part 1.............

Yes well this is only about 5-6 weeks late...........

But better late then never I say...........but there are many girls on the SAL pushing me along so finally  I can share these.............

Wow what a day........we ended up with 55mls of rain.............just wonderful rain............soaking in ran...........we have been very lucky..........still very patchy and i know others not to far away have not been so lucky.............

Anyway I've had numerous emails back and forwards with Khrissy @ Baisinolil.........

I've been trying to tidy up the Chookshed..........but in order to do some of that I had to tidy up my Natures Journey fabrics...........they are all over the cutting bench................so I cut the rest of the background fabrics................and also put the weaveline on the back..............drew the circles or squares and they are all ready to stitch..........

and just to show you better progress here is another block done for Feb...........slowly catching up..........but feels good to be finished with some of the fabrics and I can put them away for now...........

Fairy Girl is working on a couple of projects and dreaming of more.........

It's been a great day and to top it off daylight saving ENDS tonight........

thanks  for your comments on my last post............always interesting how people read what you wrote and what they chose to comment on............

I have moved on from that now so all good in that department.............just the darn weather..........everyone is down in the dumps a bit.........everyone nervous and worried about what the season is doing......thankfully the weather has changed and cooled down a bit which makes us feel better........and a definitely change sees us a little hopeful of some rain.........there is some forecast but not a lot so see what happens...........

we need so much more then a shower to give hope for crops this year........

Our easter visitor plans got cancelled sadly so with nothing else to do Fairy Girl and I are planning to hang out in the Chookshed all easter...............

we have some friends coming for lunch today but other then that nothing planned which will be lovely.............

bookwork and sewing here I come......
