Sprinkles.......

I've had this quilt kit for a long time....... Very long time....... Then it finally got cut back in Oct 2020 I got it cut and laid out on the design wall - you can see the fabrics etc and still sat for some time before it really started to get sewn....... It started as a leader ender in Jan 2021.......
bring on the Chookshed birthday last June 2021 and I got the inside of the top together here and here...........
I love the paisley prints in this one also........
This quilt got finished when Annette visited last Oct by adding the borders after i fixed a bit.......
I called it Sprinkles as 100s &1000s are tiny balls..... Sprinkles are logs and it feels colourful and fun like Sprinkles........
When I was binding and 1/2 done I remembered I was going to scallop the border..... Oops to late wasn't going to be unpicking the binding so straight edges it is........
This quilt has now gone off to a friend be who had recently been diagnosed with cancer........ She can be sprinkled with love.......

fun weekend......

Annette arrived Friday and we went and cleared off the beast in preparation for having a play........
But before I attempted to tackle the beast I wanted to achieve something.....
I had been playing with this quilt below.......I had pulled out 2 blocks in the bottom corner but on looking closer I had to reverse stitch all 6 blocks......so much for achieving.....
I was so cross as I had already attached the 1st border...........
But finally we went forward stitching and it was back together and the final border was attached............
For some reason this one is square but I thought it was going to be rectangle from the picture.........oh well.......I think its about 70in square...........now to join the backing and see about quilting.......
Today I was sitting looking at the bottom corner and thought I had buggered it up but turns out I just had it upside down to how I had been looking at it.........phew.........
I've been walking over to the dam a bit and it is so nice to see it chockers full heading into summer..... we had almost 2 inchs of rain last week........Annette and I walked over also.........
We loaded some fabric onto the beast and had a play.....broke a few threads....just trying to get even stitches at present.........i'm not in love..........Its official Lou @ Manxgirl Living and Crafting Down Under needs to come visit....but I have left it on and will keep playing.......
OK it may not be the one that got taken to Princess Pantry but it was pretty dam tasty........Loved this cake...........Its the one Annette was talking about on zoom last time. Its a ginger fluff sponge........ I'm going to try making one...... Or at least a sponge cake on the weekend......
Annette was working on this one at home and had a few blocks to join on the 5th row.........once that was done she started sewing the rows together..........it looks great.............. Top together ready for quilting......so pretty in Tilda fabrics
The whole time I was going in and outside I could smell this gorgeous rose........Susan Cooper Rose from Swanes.
And this section is ready to pop into the quilt.........
Annette was hand stitching more Ruby blocks to the backgrounds but I forgot to take a photo......
It was a lovely time sewing with a friend in the Chookshed..... Miss Jules even popped over late one afternoon...... And we had two scrub stitching friends on zoom for awhile also......
It was a lovely weekend with Annette.....
I did sew borders on another top..... But I'll save that for the next post ......
Catch you later.....

The final wrap....

wow the weekend just goes too fast...........Chookshed party all done for another year........
Miss Jules could not find her binding so she finished this one she was working on........
I was thinking of hand sewing but as the lounge was full and this quilt needed to be pieced I got the top together and the first border........its looking pretty........
I was working on some leaders and enders and got all the 4 patches together on the left..........it was just a random pile of fabric in a box from I am not sure where............and I am still deciding what to make of them yet............how to finish it.........maybe what is there is 2/3rds of the blocks...........
Ali worked on this braided quilt.......yes its crooked but I was in a hurry sticking them back up on the wall and she hasn't finished the two left rows hence they are longer in the photo too........its from one of the Jelly Roll quilt books.......she has 4 more rows to make...........
2/3rds must be the go as Lea has that much together of her quilt also..........
Up close where she had started to applique the pictures on...........
Kate was cutting heaps of hot water bottle covers and wheat packs..........OMG you could not have enough of these at present it it freezing the cold front at present is very strong........very windy and showery.........lots of snow about futher south...........we never get snow.........
Suze worked on these 3 wraps adding some applique.....
they are all a lovely dark blue but the light is a bit funny in these photos.........

Annette did some applique..........she has heaps of blocks to applique to back ground..........
she also did some spinning and I missed taking a photo........
Morning tea one day...........Kates fresh strawberry jam was a treat with the scones and cream........
Miss Myrtle Mae Muggins was looked after so well..........
Yesterday I left her in a cage for the day and she was frozen last night when I got home.........poor little treasure was bright as a button after some warming and a tummy full of milk.........
Sunset with a jet passing over...........it was sooooo pretty..........so calm....
Of course you need champagne and nibbles to enjoy while watching the sunset...........
we were all rugged up..........it was a pretty cool weekend but sunny........
And then just like that the weekend ended.....such a great group of girls to spend the weekend with........fills the soul.....7 is the max......filled the Chookshed and the beds......
If you sewed along at home let me know what you got up tooooo......
Stay warm Aussies.........even those in the warmer parts are feeling a chill..........
off to battle the road to work........
Catch you later.......

The party has started.....

I'm always awake before the rest of the girls...... Last lot arrived late last night and the noise increased dramatically.....
OMG so much fun...... Yesterday was spent tidying and reorganising the Chookshed...... Annette kept me company...... I've got to fit 7 of us in here......
Working on this quilt....I have already seen 3 blocks together and added to the main quilt.....I need to get it finished so I can pull it off the design wall......
The 4 patches are a random bundle of fabrics that landed at my place..... Not the most accurate cut blocks but I'll see what I can salvage from them..... Just using as leaders and ender's......
Slight reverse stitch as a block was cut a bit too short......
Perfect way to start the day......
Heaters on out here in the Chookshed..... Fires burning in the house...... It's just coming daylight and I'm sure there's a fog or low cloud out looks very bleek at this time.......
I know a few of you are sewing at home with us..... Have fun .....

can't believe I've been sewing......

Well folks don't drop dead with shock...........I've been sewing.........on the machine....
Before we go into the details I have to share one of my favorite pincushions........those were left over scraps and my girl sewed them together and made this tiny pincushion......it's only about 3 inchs long i think......and it holds my forked pins which I also love joining seams......
So I cut this quilt out months ago and it's even been laid out on the design wall ready to sew......the urge to sew just had not been there even though it was ready to go........
I cut into the French Generals and had them laid out on the floor and as I put that quilt top together I used this one as my leader/ender and woohoo I have now got a 1/4 of the quilt top together.....
It's like a good book I can't put it down now so maybe I'll try make a block each day before work...........
too hot after work to go into the Chookshed.....
I was in the shed early this morning and the sun caught this wall hanging.........
"Friends make each day a new beginning filled with wonder and joy"
This is part of the FG quilt that needs a name by the way......
It's finished........BUT I will show the girls on zoom first tomorrow morning........
(let me know if you want to join us)
Tonight we had dessert which is rare........Bread and Butter pudding......
very delicious and will be making another one again soon.......
Stay Safe.......

wonders will never cease

Omg girls i'm sewing without you......
In tidying up the chookshed we delved onto an unknown box for Fairy Girl (yes I know she's too big for that name now but it won't change now) to see what was in it..... I have been looking for mindless sewing..... Look what I found.....
I'm going to post this and get cutting..... But oh they are so pretty all lined up prefectly like this.....
Even better like this
Storms around last night..... Wet weather makes me feel like sewing......

More building up this arvo.....
Harvest is starting in the district so of course we have rain forecast for the next week.....
