Chookshed stitchers & renos nearly done........

limited sewing time.............but I have been working on this sashiko........
As for zoom.......Yes I mostly start pretty early but I will not apologise for the time I start...........it is the best time to catch everyone if they want to join in............no it will never suit everyone..........but it works for me and yes I have to put effort in also to get on at that time............Have I ever got on and no one joined me...........NEVER............
This pic above was taken at about 6.30am.............below at about 8.30am my time.........the dynamics of the group are constantly changing..........people popping in and out...........
The sun was streaming in and it ended up being a gorgeous morning.........
(my screen is filthy here I see sorry)
newbies are always welcome............just need to be a blogger...........leave me a comment.........and if your not comfortable with zoom most of the girls weren't to start but its second nature now.........but wonderful seeing everyone as we chat away.......this time I did get some sewing done...........
&&&&&
Nearly done with the Chookshed..........hope to hang the curtains back up today and cart the machines back out from the house............just some more cleaning to be done in there also............then re organise everything........
Its looks so nice now........ceiling lined and a fresh coat of paint on the walls too........even lashed out and actually put gloss on the window sills - they only had matt previously...........
just need more time which is not what I have at present but maybe later in August......see what happens.......
Lastly I was so excited last week when I got this egg..........
the girls have been off the lay for a few months..........but they are staring back now.......I had tried everything to encourage them...........
ok best run............

Birthday celebrations...........

Thanks everyone for your well wishes for the Chookshed aka reno central..........
It was a very chilly start to the day.........slight frost........its colder this morning I think writing this post.........
I worked on this sashiko piece..........about the middle on the right there are 5-6 stitches to do and no thread left.......i'll have to dig out my other project and see if it has white thread also...........
very frustrating........
Clare@Crafty Lady in Kiwiland and Janice were the long stayers..........
Clare's other half was away so she was able to stay longer than usual......yippee for us.......
I have one kit left over from Scrub Stitchin this year and it will be in the mail to Clare (since Janice was at SS so has one already)
32 Chookshed Stitchers popped up yesterday to celebrate which was wonderful................
some for a short time others a long time...........
it's so good to sit and stitch together........

While it was the Chookshed's 11th Birthday it really is a celebration of zoom also...........it was the Chookshed's 8th Birthday back at the start of covid that I did the 1st open zoom session...........
We have been zooming together for 3 years now............
the 1st zoom sewing session I did was for Scrub Stitchin' girls when our retreat was cancelled.........
on the right you can see Janice @Jannimary had the birthday cake...........Mick (and Janice) made orange poppyseed my favourite and he even iced it..........he also made sure I didn't miss out by cutting me a big slice and then eating it for me......so kind.....LOL.....thanks one again for the birthday cake.......
If your ever wondering if you should join please leave a comment and join us.......just need to be a blogger...........

Lastly it's a frosty morning this morning.........as I came outside to the Chookshed the colours in this Chinese Tallowwood tree caught my eye........It and the crepe myrtles are about the sum of my autumn colour............with more chilly nights they sure have the colour turned up......they will be bare soon..........
ok best go.......

INSERT EXPLOSION

Joined the lovely Jane from BeBe Bold for a Sashiko workshop..............wow this is addictive............but I refused to buy another pattern until I get this piece made into a runner..........hopefully that will be soon.....loved it...........
now I know how to do this it's great.............thanks Jane..........
A view of the hall packed to the brim with crafty goodness..............heaps of quilting stuff........even had a go on a quilting frame at Brindabella Quiling ..........and I made a smooth loop........very impressed..............Mr Chooky even looked at the flash ones...............
Reece Scannell was there..............gorgeous hand printed cottons and linens.............
Love this pinflower print on cotton................
And just as I was leaving I found Jan from Red Shed Quilting..............we have been in a swap together and emailed/commented over a few years ......this was a lovely surprise........because when I was email Jan last I was not going........
