Bloglines have just posted to say they are closing down as at 1/10/10.........

.......to say I am annoyed is an understatement...........

anyway i am looking into alternatives......

...there is google reader but looking around to see what else............

also looking at feedly which works with google chrome and safari browers

will get back to you............

I suppose at least they gave us notice...........hhhmmmmmm

EDIT: This only affects you if you use bloglines to follow blogs. 

It is a RSS feeds program.

That means if you put a new post on your blog this program searches the net and finds it and I only look here to see whats new on everyone's blogs then open the blog post if I want to comment.

EDIT II: BUT if you do go to google reader it is very quick and easy to export your current subscriptions from bloglines and import them into google reader..........

Problems & a new to me blog........

Victoria's is strongly in my mind...........terrible losses there............words cannot describe the disaster there.............

I was chatting to Peg yesterday and she has discovered her blog is not being updated in bloglines............since about the end of December her blog posts have not appeared in bloglines...............not sure who else I have missed out on by this problem..............if anyone knows how to fix it leave a comment here or go to Peg's blog and leave a comment there.........obviously Peg can do a blog posts about this as it is not showing up in bloglines for you to read..........

On a more positive note...........

The new blog I found today is Quiltsalott........I will have to go back and look thru more posts but looks good...........check it out..........

Oh and if anyone wants to do Lurlines Happy House Swap there is still time to get your name in.........even Fairy Girl can make them so you can too...........go try one out they are pretty quick to make up........

bloglines follow up...........

this post may confuse you completely but I was writing as I thought so if it doesn't make sense move on to something else............lol..............

Ok so it is pretty clear most of you have some kind of system that makes blogging easier…………..and a lot of you are like me and have way to many and spend way to much time on it but hey........gotta enjoy life............lol...........

Most of you use one of the following to manage it all

Saved in favourites

RSS feeds (thru your email)

Followers (thru blogspot)

And lots us google reader and bloglines

Actually I forgot to say I use bloglines Beta version and it is easier then bloglines to make folders etc and sort your blogs……….I have mine sorted into countries but I have seen others sorted into style of blog………eg appliquéing, knitting, embroidery etc…….whatever works for you.

If you use bloglines and want to go to the Beta version once you open bloglines just click on "take a test drive on Beta bloglines"(right hand pane).........not sure if you have to login again (which is the same username and passwords)................but once you are in the beta version if you add it to favourites and open it when you go to bloglines you will stay in Beta..............what ever changes you make in one will stay in the other.............see how you go...........

For those who just use your favourites you will save a lot of time with google reader or bloglines. What they do is find the new posts people put up and let you know. You only see the people you want to keep track of. Once you add their blog to bloglines they just keep updating you once they have updated their blog.

Then you are not going to their blog and wasting download time to find nothing new. If you see something in a bloglines update and you want to comment you click on the link and it takes you to the post directly so you can comment.

Anyway go with what works for you...............there was certainly lots of comments goodluck.........email me if you want to know something specific that I have not covered..............

no sewing i've been best friends with the bed and the lounge.......good thing too as it has been hot so I have a good excuse to hide in the air con.........

but my question for today is ....(been thinking about it as I watch my followers grow..........)

bits and pieces.........

Well I have been cruising Quilting Bloggers and found some new to me Aussie bloggers............

Lurline's Place and Luv 2 Cre8te and I also found this blogger The Quilt Nook

I was on quilting bloggers last week and there were 500+ blogs listed and this week there is 800+ so check it out and if you are not listed and want to be just submit your site...............

I got this little bundle of fat quarters at the quilt show they will go perfectly with some others i have........very soft and pretty..........

In other news when emailing a newer blogger today we got onto the subject of bloglines................she had no idea what they are so thought I would say something here.............this is helpful for bloggers and lurkers alike.............

Bloglines are a way to keep up to date with the blogs you want to visit all the time. You just go into bloglines and add the blogs you want to watch.............then when you go in next time only the people who have new posts will be bold and you can check them out.................you can easily sort them into folders for countries or types of craft to make it easier to keep track.

It does save a lot of time opening blogs only to find they have not done a new post. For those on limited downloads (like me) you don't have to open the whole blog each time.

As for commenting if you want to leave a comment you just click on the post title and it opens that post for you to comment as usual.

If I have totally confused you email me.....(but I just run it by the computer illiterate dh and he got it)..........but check out bloglines.........
