Beautiful weekend..........

What a gorgeous weekend................

big cold nights and frost and glorious sunny still days..........

My few autumn leaves are dropping fast now..........

we have been pretty mild until the last few weeks really........

Frost is so cool up close...........

It was time to cut some more wood............this has been a great log.........

some great solid wood for the fire.........

Some friends came out and cut some wood too.............didn't take long to chop up the big log.............

I made some lamb fritters for lunch when we finished.................

I had some corn ones also............

&&& 

Today I caught up on zoom...............had a few hours on and cut some more of a quilt kit............

Jen @ Jen Spins Too its not new..........I started cutting it a few months ago............lol......

Forgot to take any photos...........was testing out the screen I got sent as a replacement as mine has a line down it.............thankfully it worked great.........so I will pack my old one and return to Dell..........

One of my neighbours came over for a visit which was lovely............

I had to go help do some "de-fencing" as our back packers from years ago called it...........

We were pulling down the old fence.........

I was putting the post grabber onto the posts and Mr Chooky was pulling them out with the tractor...........

There were some old really bad patches that have had bits of mesh etc put in a hole etc............most of that mesh is big squares but I wonder what the purpose of this piece of mesh was.....clearly the flat bit was welded to  it but I don't understand what the lock type part may have been..........

Some of the fence we are pulling down.........     

It will get pushed up into a pile when all the iron posts are pulled out of the ground..........

I've been mostly keeping up with my walking.........

Depends on how I slept if I get up before sunrise...............no huge distance at once just trying to make sure I keep moving.........trying to stick with 10,000 steps........

Enjoying the almost full moon one morning............it's a special time of month when you get the moon setting and the sun rising..........

Chair renos in winter..............

Do you have a skill that's pretty useless...........as in it's not going to make you millions of $$$$

Anyone who's been to the Chookshed knows I have way to many mugs (30-40)........

As they need to go into the house to be washed I have become quite skilled to carry a lot in one hand.........They all have memories of events or something I like about them so they cannot go...........

I do need to find the basket I used to use...........it is easier to open the doors with a free hand..........

I had a few plans for the weekend and they have all changed.............A girlfriend turned up for a short visit.........I decided to fix the old chairs in the Chookshed..........as at last week I had 3 broken seats..........

On Friday I got the timber in town to make the new bases...........

So I started pulling the broken ones apart on Saturday.........Got Mr Chooky to cut the timber..........

He started to show me how to use the staple gun.........OMG how good is a staple gun run with an air compressor.............anyway I started doing the covering with Mr Chooky then he just kept doing it so I cut all the fabric for the the whole 5 seats and pulled the other 2 apart also............heaps quicker job then I thought it would be........ I did have to go in and make scones to keep Mr Chooky on the job but hey that's easy payment.........

It was chilly but beautiful in the sun working on the chairs and then relaxing eating the scones with a cuppa when we finished............

The fabric I used to cover them we've had for years as I was going to cover a few seats which never happened but I am now inspired................Mr Chooky does some upholstery work so we had some foam..........the seats are completely new............the backs I reused the foam and board as it was fine...........

What do you think..............the crappy old black in now gone..........

The upholstery fabric we had works so well in the Chookshed and with the seats...........the grey frame now looks a like blue/grey instead............Mr Chooky is no longer allowed to sit on the seats with his work clothes on like he used too...............

The seats have been comfy and solid to sit on so worth the reno instead of tossing and getting new ones.........

Frosty morning today...........I love the patterns the frost makes...........

It was fresh for a walk but it was pretty still...........

the clouds have come over and the wind has picked up.........

And we have a new edition to the farm...........Meet "Diesel"...............

We were down to one sheep dog so needed another one............

He's pretty cute..............

He's got big feet so I think he is going to be a big dog.............

He's a black and tan kelpie.......great for sheep work and he's already had his eye on Bridget..........

She was not impressed at all..............

A few days ago the sunrise was spectacular.............

My chinese tallowwood has been beautiful............the leaves are disappearing fast now..........

Anyway I hope you have had a nice weekend................June long weekend here so I have today off at home which is great............

teenagers birthday party............

Since the Chookshed turned 13 we were all acting like teenagers and took lots of selfies..........we had fun playing around...........you'll see below..........and I shared toooo many but hey it was so much fun and we got lots of laughs..........and that's what life's about right..........fun and laughter............

 Chapel Street is making progress on the layout..........even had a bit more on the wall but had to sort out a few more fabrics so need to include those in the mix..........

Kate cut and laid out a quilt..........all ready to sew up..............

She also worked on her Diddles quilt...............some of you will remember Diddles............

Suze cut these drunkards path blocks and got quilt a few blocks made...............so pretty..............

I made the binding for this group quilt from Scrub Stitchin'............love the quilting by Sandy @ Shiralee Stitches...........

I really worked a lot on binding............I attached 2 and I made 3.......

Suze found a rock to use as a prop to take our selfies................

It was the most glorious weekend...............
Who would have known winter started yesterday......

Miss Jules added the borders to this quilt............

Suze and Miss Jules had the same charm pack as it turned out...............The quilts will look very different..............

The last Chookshed party in the Chookshed was 2021.....

2022.....to wet flooding

2023.......Cancelled the night before - family emergency......

2024...... Rained and roads were terrible.......So only online.....

2025 we are back!!!!!

Sorry I've been missing in action........ There is still more SS to finish up but I thought I'd share my month....... Lots of enjoying the moment..... And I did think of you all when taking these nature ones that I have shared with you below.......

Winter is finally here....... Very exciting we got a new wood fire..... OMG the pieces of wood can be so huge now....... But it's nice and snug but we only lit the fire this last week....... Very late but the weather has been so mild........

Scrub Stitchin' 2025 Day 4 part 3...........

Like I said Saturday was big...........

Saturday night was the theme dinner.......

"Winter Wonderland in the Warrumbungles"

The decorating was a little easier as most had been done prior to the retreat........but I wanted to add a few more bits.............its a special fun night.........

The table looked very pretty................

Thanks heaps to Di for the hundreds of snowflakes........they were great and looks so cool.......

I dressed as snowflakes...........white and sparkling catching the light............

Brenda on the right went with the "Warrumbungles National Park" think gum leaves and flannel flowers around her neck............

So much fun seeing everyone dressed up...........

be that all out or super simple......

some went with the frosty cold snowman and or snow balls............

Others just dressed in their winter woolies..........

Given the theme of the Warrumbungles and the Warrumbungles National Park  being Australia's first Dark Sky Park there were some stars...........

Even some penguins from the south pole...........

Olaf and Elsa came to visit also.............

We also do our "Make It, Fake It or Bake It" swap at the dinner............

I'll share that another time...........
