Do we have smelly internet..............

We I wished we did right now............cause these scones smell devine..................I can't give you the exact recipe but it includes SR flour, cream, milk, pinch of salt and some bicard soda............

(for those that regular read my blog - yes I did use the correct flour)

combine ingredients until you get the "right consistency" yep now your asking what is the "right consistency" well keep looking..................this isn't...............

............getting closer..............

this is pretty right now.............

then you have to knead the dough and roll out on a floured surface.............(using my newest family heirloom)............(ask "bookworm" to now take the pics as you have flour everywhere).......

then cut them out with my mystery item..............my other family heirloom.............this is the scone cutter that my Nan used as long as I can remember (much safer then the glass I use).........

.............we have been sorting things out at my grandparents house (remember my Pop died last month) and Mum put these aside for me knowing I LOVE cooking..............they are very precious to me.............so today we had to make some scones...........the kids love it when I make them..........they love to help also

now they are cooked.................

just perfect..............

and ready for me to eat.............

sorry must rush off and eat them..........when my city friends come to visit soon I will make some more.............gosh that will have to be a big batch.............

...........take care til next post.............

They look divine! Any chance you would share your recipe? Also can I ask how thick you roll out your dough. The last time...well to be honest the only time I've ever made scones I think I rolled them too thin. They tasted right, but didn't rise as much as I expected them to.

After my Nan passed away I inherited a few favorite things that I am still using, a little saucepan with a few dents and a colander in the same condition. I always take a minute to think of her when I use them!

Well I'll be ???
When you mentioned scones and knead in the same breath and when I saw the rolling pin, my Country Womens upbringing held its breath and thought......what is she doing.
And begorra........it works.

To explain. Country Womens Association shows were were we girls showed off our developing skills in scone and sponge making.
And the two things that have alwasy been drummed into my head re scones is use the knife so you do not overmix, do not knead, handle as little as possible.

But yours work...so while Moggie is not here....there is more than one way to kill a cat. Am almost off to make some....
They look fantastic.

Hey Chookyblue! The scones look delicious - I make doorstops!! Tho, I've since found out a couple of vital things I do wrong, so one day will give it another go - my specialty is choc chip biccies to DIE FOR!!! And the recipe makes 7-8 dozen, depending on how big you make em!! Your photos of Nundle treasures led me astray - I've chatted to Kerry and signed up for the challenge AND bought some of the blue/green fabrics you showed! Oh dear!! I'm a BAAAAAAAD girl! Tee! Hee! Hee! Bear Hugs! KRIS )Tag Along Teddies)

Hi Those scones have inspired me to make some too. My recipe includes SR flour, cream and lemonade. May not be very traditional but they taste great. What wonderful treasures you have to remember your grandparent by. Every time you make scones you can smile at the memories your rolling pin and wonderful cutter bring to mind.
Hope to see you at Nundle in July

Yummo! Scones are a favourite in our house. My "city" friends can't believe I make things from scratch!! So much easier than having packets of stuff everywhere! They look beautiful. I'm sure they were just as yummy as they look!!
