A very special day............

Mary MacKillop will be canonised in a few hours at the Vatican in Rome. She will be the first Saint from Australia.
Mary MacKillop founded the Sisters of St Joseph. I was educated by this order of Nuns. It is a very special day for her to become a Saint.
Saint Mary of the Cross.
Catch you later..............

It really is a special day. Mother Mary was a saint during her lifetime; this is just the official recognition. Wonder what she would think of it all?

We are celebrating here in NZ today, her Order is here as well. In fact they taught at my school for a time after I left..........not sure what that meant. I such a lovely thing to have a Australian Saint.

It is a special day indeed. We celebrated at school on Friday and the children sang the final hymn (about SAINT Mary) with such spirit and energy it was really touching.

I am so glad for this special day, Chook, to honor a gentle, giving soul.

How wonderful! This is the first I've heard of her, but I think I'll go look her up and get to know her. It's always good to have friends in high places! :)

Congratulations to all Aussies on the canonization of their very first saint! This is the first I've heard of her, too, so I'll have to do a bit of research.
