Woops I forgot........

I forgot to pick up my babies from the bus...........I have only forgotten once before..........the problem is the bus stop is just at a turn off along a road in the middle of no where and it is miles from home.........lucky I have an understanding bus driver.........they patiently waited for me thank goodness..........
&&&
the mouse smell is contained..............the door got jammed with newspaper and I won't be removing it for awhile..........thanks for the suggestions..........I had a strawberry candle burning which helped.......
and sorry to offend cat lovers but there is no way in this world I would consider a cat......I HATE them......I like my little birds in the garden............
&&&
we have enjoyed a few cooler days well cool for us..............low 30's..........back to the high 30's for the weekend and the start of the week............and still no rain.............just hot and dry...........
&&&
I know a few girls in blogland aren't having the best time at the moment so why not leave a few extra nice comments on some blogs or send some friends a friendly email.  You never know if/when they may need it. It just might make their day.
There is often lots of things we just don't blog about........
&&&
oh and what is it with mug rugs..............I just don't get it........what do you do with them all...............maybe cause I only ever have a cuppa alone........no treats...............and I see they look quick to make but they just seem to be everywhere at the moment............
&&&
sorry no pics.......bad bad blogger i know.......bit hectic at the moment and my mind is in a thousand places............probably the reason I forgot the school bus...........
.........take care til next time.....Chookyblue.........

Well we do all get distracted sometimes. We nearly left our 6 week old baby in a restuarant - she was in that baby car carrier thing - forgotten what they are called now - and had been so quiet all night we got up and got to the door before we remembered . . - fortunatley she was too young to remember so she doesnt need to get back at us!

Yep, I forgot to pick up my four from school one day, definitely a guilt trip moment but they survive, kids are tougher than we think really..

Whoops! It happens to everyone Im sure. I almost missed picking up the kiddies (not mine) because the cat locked me out of the house...

Did you race to the bus stop like a headless chook...LOL! I bet Fairy Girl won't let you get away with that one. Hugs to you too...and a big meow from my housebound mouse catcher!

LOL - can just picture that, Chooky. I never forgot to pick up my kids, but I did forget to drop one off at day care when she was in Kinder. She hated going so when we got there, she locked the doors and I couldn't get her out. Needless to say, she was in tears when I managed to leave, I got a serve from the Principal for being late to school and I learnt never to leave my keys in the ignition!

ha h just as well you have an understanding bus driver but often they're like that in the country...good news about the meeces to pieces...

Sue said...

Yes, we've all forgotten them at least once. My 38yo son told me the other day that he "didn't blame me for being a crap mother...I was so young when they were born". I'm glad about that..I think.

Think we feel the same about cats....LOL.

Cats make me sneeze!
Now...about the mug mats LOL. Mine came as a project from a label club that I'm in, and I promised myself that I would do the project each and every month. I haven't used them yet...as I have show and tell at my craft gathering tomorrow night...but then I will be using them at afternoon tea with my kids. I think they are cute...and will hopefully catch some of the crumbs that my daughter manages to spread everywhere every day :)
OOps about the school bus hee hee

Mug Rugs.....I love mine because I sit them on the arms of the couch where we have our evening cuppa nad they help to 'protect' the couch from any spills :)

Sounds like you have agreat bus driver there. :)

I hope the mouse fades away fast!

Thimbleanna said...

You're so funny Donna! I hope you're not one of the ones who need cheering up!

I don't get the mug run thing either -- I think it's just a quickie project -- everyone seems so impatient now and they don't want to put in a lot of time on big projects. Although, I'll admit, I wouldn't mind having a mug rug at my desk -- I have a coaster, but it doesn't catch the cookie crumbs.

And I used to hate cats too. I'm a dog person. But then the kids grew up and the dog died. I couldn't see sentencing another dog to a lonely life while we're at work all day, so a cat was the perfect solution. They are pretty fun to watch sometimes!

You made me laugh this morning. I am with you on the mug rugs. I just don't get it either.

Well. having homeschooled the kids for many years has saved me from the "not picking them up" problems. Of course, my 14 year old has chosen to go to school and I have had quite a few phone calls from her. "Um, Mum... Are you coming to get me?" To me it's a wonder people don't forget more often. I tend to get caught up with things. Time passes so quickly!

Wendy said...

big giant hugs to you ... whenever you need them!

My dad forgot me once. It was during a snow storm. I waited 2 hours with a sdress on too. I'll never forget that!

I hate cats too. Love dogs though.

I agree...WHAT IS IT with all these mug rugs anyway? I only drink water. So, I am not interested.

Take some time to breathe. And think. LOL.

Lynn said...

I've done that and my favorite thing is going the wrong place to pick up/drop off a kid. And after I arrive at lets say the pool to pick them up from work I think how did I get there. I think it builds character for them at least that's what my Dad used to tell me when he would forget me. And I turned out okay, pretty much.
I spill things, my mug rug would end up a mess. So that's one less thing to put on my to make list.

Sounds like you have a wonderful bus driver!

I'm with you on the cat issue. I have many birds and lizards that visit my garden. I enjoy watching and listening to them. Unfortunately, unlike you, I have to put up with the neighbours' cats. I'm regarded as a bad neighbour if I complain. I don't mind people owning pets. They have many good points. I just wish they were not inflicited on me.

There's nothing surer than having a smile when reading your blog! I think they call it 'character building' when your parents forget to pick you up from the bus stop! At least thats what I told mine when I forgot them late last year. Fell asleep at the dining table, and woke up about 20 minutes after I'm meant to be at the end of the road to pick them up - and it was raining. I felt so crap that I could do such a thing!
Hope things smell sweeter for you soon. Hugs from NZ, Nicky

You have no idea how forgetful Iam these days and find myself doing the silliest things

Liz said...

Wish I could send you some rain we have had torrents of it all day and night and so far all day today.
Definitely monsoonal rain.
I guess perfect opportunity to get in the sewing room.
Have a great weekend and hope it cools down for you.
That is funny about the bus. I've done it myself too, half an hour late to pickup from school! Or when you think the other half is getting them and he thinks you are getting them. Laugh about it now. Needless to say the kids are never forgiving. We are only human!

Denice Barker said...

It took me a long time to figure out what a mug rug was until I told myself they would have been called "coasters" in my day.
If you're the one needing the hug then I'm sending one. Some days are like that.

Jodie said...

LOL!!! I can picture that road and definitely don't blame you for forgetting, you're only human... Right?

Hugs - Jodie :)

HUGS HUGS HUGS HUGS HUGS HUGS HUGS! Lucky you've got a great and understanding bus driver. Hope that the next few weeks gives you some more brain space back. Need some visitors to take your mind off it?!

I an with you on the mug rugs. I don't have kids, so can't forget them either, lucky them, but my own mother was even forgetting us when we were standing next to her. We were in the city and went back by car and she jumped in the car and drove of and my brother and me were stil standing on the street, luckily she noticed it when she was out of the carpark and she returned fast.

Mug rugs = cute, achievable, quick, fun and a different way to decorate the house with patchwork that DH cannot say isnt practical!
Happy quilting Sue SA
PS glad the smell is on the wane, agree about cats, much prefer the birds!

That dead mouse smell is certainly unique, glad it is subsiding now. So far I have not forgot the school kids, but my hubby has when I have been away. Now I make sure he writes it on his hand so he doesn't forget.

If I had children, I'm sure I would be forgetting to pick them up all the time. I can't even keep up with myself sometimes!

Our office had a rat (huge!) that died above the ceiling, and it took weeks to figure out where the smell was coming from. I almost had to find another job!

Anonymous said...

if a mouse dies where you can't find it the smell goes on for much longer and is much bigger than one would expect from such a tiny creature - from experience :-)

Chocolate Cat said...

Just proves you are normal!!! Glad the smell is contained, with the warm weather it will be gone in no time. We have it wet and dull again, have had no summer at all. I like mug rugs because I can actually finish them but have to admit I only have one (soon to be two) of my own and the ones I have made I have given to non-quilters as a gift often with a nice mug.

Glad you cleared up the mouse problem...and cats? no way, not in the bush, they don't belong, the native wildlife does...A Big Hug...

I can beat that I picked up my 2 and forgot a friends son who I was supposed to be bringing home.

suz said...

I didn't pick my son up on time once. I had to go to another city for work (about 30 minutes away)and my car broke down (pre cell phone time). The after school teachers never checked to see if my 7-year old had been picked up and just left! It was winter and I didn't get to him until after it was dark. Fortunately there was a basketball game at the school and he went in to watch it. To this day (22 years later) he'll tell people about how I forgot to get him. The story has grown over the years and involves a blizzard, muggers, and all sorts of other silly stuff. I think Godzilla got in the story at one time! It's actually become a family joke and we both embellish on it. Needless to say, at the time it scared me half to death and I always arranged backup just in case (after I had a long chat with the after-school teachers!)
