sheep, cattle and kids............

Last week I sold the last of my weaners....mentioned in this post.......I would normally keep the heifers as replacements from these.........and sell the remainder Sept/October next year........pretty sad..........I climbed up the top of the loading race to get a last snap of some of them.............
after we had the little sprinkle of rain I thought we may have the day dust free.........I was SOOOOOOOO wrong..............with in a few hours of the rain finishing the dust started.......the wind blew and blew all day.................
this was one of the paddocks on the way to town........the dust was blowing off a cropping paddock over the other side of the trees.............................
On the weekend Fairy Girl had the girls in her class out for a sleep over..............
they played went for a swim, did blind makeovers - something you never want to do, ran around lots, played spotlight in the back paddock after dark.........
some of them wanted to do some sewing..........they got into some buttons........
felt everywhere.....
But they did make some christmas decorations...........
and now they all know how to thread needles, start and finish on their own..........
there are a few more but I missed the pics..........
I went with Mr Chooky to feed the sheep last week too.........
It looks like there is more there in some patches but there is nothing...........the little grass butts you can see in this pic are the equivalent of eating cardboard I reckon........most of the ground is dead as you can see.............
heading out into the paddock with the feeder on the ute.......
a few sheep start running/walking in...............
gradually a whole pile end up behind you..........and they start circling the vehicle...........
looking threw the side view mirrow.......all trying to get on the feed line...........
Catch you later
Chookyblue
PS it's a stinking hot day here today.................

Life can be very difficult on the land. we are all hoping that some rain will come your way and get some grass growing for the poor animals.

I wish more than anything that we could send you some rain - it makes me incredibly sad to see you selling your cattle. I hope things turn around soon.

I hope some summer rains come and give you a good soaking soon. Sad to have to sell your stock when it's not time. Looks and sounds like the girls had a fun time; very sweet decorations.

Its heartbreaking Chooky. It looks like the girls sleepover was a bit of fun. Did any of the xmas decos make it to your tree?

You are dealing with drought and dust storms at your end of the globe and we are dealing with record breaking cold and Ice storms here in the United States. There should me a happy place to meet somewhere in between :)

I hope it rains and rains for Christmas....such terrible conditions at the moment. What a fun sleepover, and such a variety of activities! Blind makeovers sound scary.

I hope it rains for you ASAP. Maybe you will be lucky like we were last Thursday, 36mm of rain out on the station = stuck in town overnight = double shift = who cares, it was rain.

But alas everything is just as dray as a dead stick and oh so dusty.

Have you tired washing doonas and quilts, that sometimes brings on the rain?

lol The pic of the sheep gathering is so funny. I'm in an agricultural area and have seen this many times. It never ceases to make me laugh when I see the sheep come out of nowhere!!! Fingers crossed for some rain.
Cheers, Anita.

Oh goodness that is heartbreaking, nothing worth eating in that dirt. Is supplementary feed still easily available? Bet it's super expensive though...? Here's hoping 2014 brings a good season for you.
