more jelly roll quilts......

my girlfriend arrived Thursday afternoon..............
we always like to do crafty things with the girls.............something.............so after Fairy Girl made her jelly roll quilt last week she thought that maybe my girlfriends daughter may like to make one too..........
to help her out I joined all the ends.......
then she got to work and joined most of this quilt..........her Mum helped with the last bit..........
this is made from 48 strips and it is more square then rectangle like the normal jelly roll race quilt................
When my girl friend went to get the jelly roll for her daughter she found this one below................so she decided she would make one too...................
Rambling Rose by Sandy Gervais.............just beautiful..............even prettier in real life.............but it is a pre-release so the yardage is not out until October........gee that is annoying..........I wished they would release everything at once...............so we will have to wait until that comes out so she can put a border on her quilt.............
it's such a pretty range...............the colours are a bit closer here..........
it's been so nice having my girlfriend and kids to visit for a few days..........
Catch you later.............
Chookyblue...........

Always nice to sew/quilt with company - I think I get more done that way.

It is such a great way to make a quilt. Maximum effect for minimum effort. They have both turned out beautifully. I saw a great version in black and white recently. Once it was stitched bright flowers were appliquéd onto it. A very effective variation.

My friend in Tasmania hadn't heard of the Jelly Roll Quilts, until I told her about them...now she is hooked on the idea and cuts the strips herself from left over fabric and just joins & joins!

Aren't those jelly roll quilts "morish". Especially in between projects which take ages to finish, it's just so satisfying to quickly sew a quilt top. And sewing with a friend is even more special.
