quilt shows.....

Well last week was the Melbourne craft /quilt show........ Surprising there wasnt that much chatter online about it....well that's what I thought anyway......
Did you go was it a hit?
Do you get too many shows to go to - too much choice?
What did you like if you did go?
###
Now Sydney is coming up next week and just about no one has been mentioning it at all online......
Are you going?
What's the draw card for you?
###
Actually I think you must all be hibernating and asleep like bears with all this cold weather in the southern hemisphere...... And the Northerners must be on summer holidays..... It's quiet......
.........take care til next time.....Chookyblue.........

I went on Sunday, met up with a bunch of Quilt Club Australia - group on facebook, girls including Anorina Morris (Sameliasmum) who is down visiting family. The stalls are so different to Sydney the only 2 that I noticed that are at all shows were Punch with Judy and Patchwork with Gail B. My DD1 Kate and DIL Jaclyn came with me as they are in Melbourne for DD2 Elizabeth's wedding last Saturday.
I have not been around much blog is feeling neglected but now wedding is over I might have time to catch up, finish sewing for Cheryl's Christmas in July swap and finish a new quilt top that I laid out on the Gold Coast 2 weeks ago while at the Sports Chaplaincy Australia National Conference

I was in Melbourne but didn't get to the show. I'm off to sydney next week, just trying to work how to wiggle my nose and be there rather than driving!

Don't think I'll get to Sydney this year but planning to go next year....l usually go to Canberra which has a lot of the stalls that Sydney has but without the crowds!

It IS quiet, isn't it? I really miss all my bloggy friend posts -- I wish people would stop posting on Instagram LOL!

Sydney kind of crept up on me, and unfortunately know I can t go.....I enjoy Sydney because of the variety, of shop stalls although I ve found in recent years there is not as much quilting/ patchwork stuff. I will probably go to the Newcastle show this year, only because it s close to home. Need to start putting pennies away.....

Somehow I seem to have missed most things so far this year & yet still very busy! Didn't get to Melb & wont get to Sydney.... perhaps I need to schedule it for next year! I do agree about the comment from Thimbleanna - with instagram, pinterest, FB , Ravelry and who knows what else... blogging often ends up down the bottom, and I'm probably just as guilty as others..... I need to work on that!!

I know I have been a bit quiet too! Finally wrote a new post this morning. I haven't been to any craft shows for a few years now...usually doing something else when they are on :-/

I too don't buy much these days....need to clear out more of my stash!

Friends and I went to the Melbourne show on Sunday; we all loved it and bought too much great stuff... The best bit was knowing some of the stallholders - Jodie Ric Rac, Morgan from Crafty Squirrel, Emma Jean Jansen, Marg Low,Fiona Ransley from Tassie, Karen from Mrs Martins Quilt Shop ... the first 3 are Ballarat girls ... so lots of people to say hello to. Fiona will be at the Sydney show (she's lovely and stocks all sorts of goodies), don't know who else is there. Have fun in Sydney, Chooky.

I haven't been really impressed with the Sydney show the last few years.....love visiting Annie's stand tho! The only reason I went last year was to spend a day with friends. I have noticed that there are less fabric shops there each year. And last year saw very little of our Aussie designers fabric & patterns. This year the venue, while might be nice, just makes the trip that much longer. But of course I may come in for dinner with you....still waiting for you to let me know!!??

I'm still tossing up whether to go down to Sydney or not. I hadn't planned anything, but the booklet arrived in the mail today, which has me a bit keener. Like Anita, have to get my head around getting to the new venue. I'll make my mind up next week.

Went to the Melbourne show - was looking for specific fabric for an Indian themed quilt (continent not people) and found some...thought many of the other stalls were the same as last time, did enjoy looking at the Sentinelles display and came home with one to play with, was lovely to catch up with some bloggy friends.

I'm giving myself a little treat next week and flying down to the Sydney Craft Show. I'm going mainly for the quilt show. There are supposed to be over 400 on display. I've poured over the list of exhibitors and I'm a bit disappointed some I wanted to see will be absent. Still it will be good to study the quilts in show.

No not this year. I think it has moved from Darling Harbour. Will be good to see some blogs of people that do though.
