2 tops in 10 in days......OMG.......

With a bit of a delay due to sleepover Aunty duties...........
finally......second quilt top finished................or maybe not............
this is without boarders..............72 x 72inch square.
border options................what do you think???
the big floral would be not quite this wide..........
I do have to get some more yardage which should be fine...........
closer up..............
And with a top together i was inspired to work on another old one.............
it's been in and out a bit lately............
even made it to the design wall and got pull back down................
another block nearly finished and most of the sashing done.....
Need to measure them all but I think the sashing has been cut 4 3/8 instead of 4  1/2 inchs............
It will work out but AARRRHHHH.........
loved the holidays and the long weekend.........
Fairy Girl is playing in a bundle of scraps, selvedges etc...........
no direction really, no rules to follow just having fun joining fabric together..........
also added in a few random left over blocks, stuff ups etc.............
Anyway hope you have enjoyed your weekend..............
So border or no border????
Help.......need your thoughts.............
Catch you later

Gorgeous Chooky. Do I see 3 borders there - red frame, then two more? If yes, then I think that would "finish" the quilt. But I do think you need the thin frame in there.

I like the three border combo with those measurements you mentioned. Will definitely finish it off. I like an odd number of borders. Nice quilt.

I agree to a border. Because if you didn't have a border, after it is quilted and the binding put on, you would not have nice "points" on the outside!

Wow, love how this one looks and you put it together so quickly too. I like the three borders. I think just red binding would also look good, depends how big you want it really. Great either way.

My vote is for borders as well.

Well Done Chooky, the top looks great... now get your borders on & finish it, don't start something else & leave this beautiful quilt in the cupboard, LOL!

A narrow cream border, then a deeper red one.

I agree with the rest...borders would frame it beautifully!

I say no borders. Just a dark binding from one of the colors in the top.

Love the colours chooky, definitely borders, but with any art work it becomes personal, you choose, whatever it is it will be as delicious as the quilt, go get it finished.

Oh yes, Chooky the three borders in the sizes you have down would really make this even more lovely...thank you for the link, I have two PomPom D'Paris layer cakes and I am now going to use one for this quilt...

I'm a regular reader but not a commenter so I hope you don't mind if I add my 2 cents. I think you should leave off the red border but add a row of the mixed beige squares similar to the ones in the corners but going all the way around and then a beautiful red binding. I hope that makes sense. Thanks for your lovely blog.

It looks great. I'm not sure on the borders so won't comment.

Hey Donna! WOW! Look at you go, Miss Stitching! :0) Love your French General start quilt. Hmm ... I'd put a 1 inch red border then a wider (5-7 inches) floral border, but your idea of the three progressively wider borders sounds cool too ... as someone else said, depends how big you want to go. And red binding or scrappy binding including all the fabrics from the pieced section would look great. Aaah ... decisions, decisions! :0) Final advice ... Have Fun! Bear Hugs! KRIS xx

wow, what beautiful top.
I love the wider fabric for the border it is so lovely. Not sure about the small print for the thinner border.
I love it without the border too.
So I guess I am no help at all?
have fun working it out.
