Binding.........

Just finished the binding on the quilt..........borrowed my neighbours washing machine to fit it in for a wash..................it's a big quilt..........96inch square..........i'll share some pics in a day or 2...........but I am very happy with the quilt.......
My question today is how fast do you bind?
After having done this quilt I think it took about 9 hours to bind so I think i get about a metre (39inchs) done an hour.........
Is that slow?

.........take care til next time.....Chookyblue.........

Yay a finish!! Well done.
I think it all depends on how close together your stitches are, i think it took me 6 hours to bind my last quilt and it was 108" square.
Just think the better the job the better it will last. Enjoy your weekend :-)

That was quick from start to finish!!
You can only sew at a speed that works for you..unless you machine stitch it all, it is what it is azsnd enjoy the process.

Hand sewing the binding to the back is my favorite part of making a quilt so I'm probably no speed demon. I find it so relaxing. Looking forward to seeing the finished quilt.

I've never thought to count. Nine hours sounds long, but not for a good job. I'll pay more attention next time! Fast turnaround on finishing this one.

It takes me AGES to bind a quilt, as I don't use a thimble (tried, really tried to use them). I don't find it relaxing either! LOL!

Binding is like harvest, the final finish.
It takes one stitch at a time and is finished when the last stitch is done. I enjoy every one of them but have never paid attention to how long it takes me. It is faster than quilting. 9 hours on a 96 inch quilt seems pretty fast to me. Looking forward to seeing the pictures.
Greetings,
Sylvia

I usually watch a movie or some episodes of something while sewing down the binding. My current binding "in progress" is for a quilt that's about the size of a single bed, and I'm about 3/4 done (after watching parts of two movies). I guess it takes the time that it takes, no more or less.
