I always wonder what happens to blog friends that just drop offline......sometimes I leave a comment on their last post and sometimes they reply...........just busy with other stuff or stopped blogging...........sometimes I hear nothing........
Once one of the overseas ladies in my SSCS swap was seriously ill in hospital and got one of her friends to contact me................
the friend also let me know how seriously ill she was and sadly so very sadly she passed on a few months later.....thankfully her friend let me know..........
occassionally a blogger has said on there blog they are stopping...........sad but nice to know whats happened............
this week I was sad to read that Tania @ Ollie and T passed away
I've never met Tania.........but I felt like I knew her............she was one of the Gisborne Girls.......always fun gatherings with the Gisborne Girls.........Sue @ Kiwikids Page one of the Gisborne Girls posted about Tania here..........way to young to die.......
hugs to the Gisborne Girls and their friends...........
While I was sad to read this it was nice/odd to know what happened.............I do wonder what would happen if we died.........would our online friends know........
it's not like we have the same connections online that we have in real life........in our local community or extended family.........
A few more of Shiralee Stitches Lucy Boston BOM blocks finished.....this is 15, 17 and the most recent 18 (14 and 16 cut but not sewn yet)..........i've had some time in the car so got some stitching done............seriously addicted to Lucy..............I am planning Lucy 2........
this is a BOM you can join any time...........i've been there from the start...............some are only joining for 12 or 16 blocks........some for piles as they want to make a queen size quilt........it's a long slow process but I am loving "My Friend Lucy"....
more Nundle coming soon..........I felt sad thinking of the fun times we have with our blog friends and just couldn't post cheeriness when I have been thinking about Tania and how sad her friends would be right now........thinking of the fun/sad times they had with their friend.......
Catch you later.....

Hi Chooky ,yes an interesting post,i had a lady that i swapped with at the start and she just stopped blogging years ago and i always wondered what happened.
It was so sad to hear about Tania, and it has been hard for Sue ,Tracee and Marg to lose their friend ,hope you have a lovely evening my friend xx
Totally agree, we sometimes will never know, soo sorry to hear about both your bloggy friends xx
Dear Chooky,
it is hard to cope with the loss of a dear and near friend. So sorry about that.
Hugs,
Sylvia,
who is checking out the Lucy Boston BOM program....only checking for information...
Your post about bloggers was just right for me. I too often wonder what has happened to someone who disappears from blogging. We all have this and that that does pull at us. I would be lost without my special friends in blogland. I really do not pay attention, although I do notice, to the number of followers. It goes up and down and I wonder what happened. The friendships I have made in blogland are very special.... glad to be able to visit and comment. Even if we never meet the person on the other computer we have a bond.
I, too, often wonder about bloggers that I've come to know through their posts who then just quit. It's especially hard when you know someone is going through a hard time and they don't post anymore. I just will always wonder.
Like you, I've reached out to a couple of bloggers who fell off the face of the earth, and I'm always appreciative if I get a response. So sad if someone dies and we don't know.
Good and important post. It IS a concern about what to do if we get sick or something bad happens to us. I don't know about most of my bloggy friends but when I look in the mirror I don't see young. There is a bloggy friend I had who just dropped off and I sent messages through her blog but never got a reply and then one day the blog had been taken down.I never found out what happened to her. I have a pen friend since I was 16 years old and he just stopped communicating. Finally his daughter sent me a message saying he'd had a stroke. Luckily he is ok, but it could have been otherwise. It's important that we leave our passwords with someone we trust with instructions to post for us if necessary.
Yes lost a good bloggy friend, never replied to any of my emails, sure she is just busy with life but you do worry when they just drop out of blogland. Loving Lucy blocks, didnt realise that the fussy cutting were actual patterns. Saw one last winter that was a combination of the owners and blocks that her friends had made for her because had lost her ability to hand sew. Its on my one day list, because Mum brought the pattern and the fabric, but I am sure it is in a box in the back of the cupboard, so just waiting til she has a clean out and decides she doesnt want it!
I wonder the same thing. Hopefully my DH will figure out how to do a post if the worst should happen. I do like it when bloggers post that they're taking a break, just so we know. Sad about Tania, i had some great emails back and forth with her too.
Funny you should post about this Chookyblue. I often wonder if my kids would let my online friends know & also people who read my blog if anything had happened to me. Love your Lucy Boston blocks. Hugs,xx
I have just the same thoughts - I often email but sometimes there is no reply but a few times I have heard back and we have reconnected which is great. Even though it is 'on line' friends I still miss hearing from them.
love your LB sewing...
Hugz
Sad news about those bloggers. When I was having that big op last year, I left a whole lots of instructions for the family if I carked it...one was for my older daughter to access my blog and write a post...didn't need it obviously but it gave me peace of mind at the time, ( also had lists of friends who could come and distribute my fabric and yarn stashes! Lol)
I like to think of it as our online family ... a different kind of bond but just as special and caring xx
A good thought to leave logon/password details with a tech savvy loved one perhaps.
Love your Lucy blocks ... very tempting :)
So very sad to hear about Tania and very sad for her family and friends. We are like a little community in as much as we share and support each other. My very tech savvy daughter would get the gig. I love your Lucy blocks x
So very sad about Tania .... Love your LB .... Our online friends what would we do with out them !!!! .... I hope one of my boys would do something for me .... May be I should tell them xxx
A very interesting post Chooky. I hope my DD lets my bloggy friends know if I fall off the log....
Nice LB blocks ....
I had a Blogger friend who left her daughters her information and they posted a loving tribute to her when she died x It was sad but also a beautiful ending to her Blogging history x.. I for one took a lot of comfort from it x
Its sad when people decide to retire their blog, especially ones that you enjoy. I've had a few do that over the years but I still keep them at the bottom of my blog roll just incase they return.
I had a blog friend pass away - Angie from the UK - a dear old duck who was wheelchair bound but lovingly cared for by her hubby. She did amazing cake decorating and was just a lovely British lass. She'd been ill on and off for a while then died quite suddenly of pneumonia. We were all shocked and saddened. I found out via Facebook that she had passed. Her blog still remains together with all the comments as people found out she had passed away.
That is really sad news. I've often wondered myself. It's a bit of a catch22 - sometimes you read a post whereby someone may be going through a rough time (such as yourself). Often they are in your thoughts as you feel you know them a little - but then I feel a little strange then following up. It's like I'm intruding? weird perhaps - but I don't know them personally but still worry about them. I'll never forget hearing when Kathreen Ricketson died - the blogger. She died along with her husband snorkelling! It must have been a freak accident to or something - they were on a year long family holiday traveling around in a caravan and left behind two beautiful kids - so terrible. I often wonder how those kids are doing.
am loving your lucy boston blocks...my stuff is packed away, due to arrive this week and you have inspired me to get going and make some blocks....
I've often thought about that very topic myself, wondering what has happened. Some have deleted their blogs and others just leave it as is. Why don't they write a post .... moving on .... etc? If I were dying, would I write a post about it? Or would I just want the cyberworld to remember me as I was and not what I will become? Hum ... sad post indeed!
Interesting post Chooky, my boys have instructions to do a final post for me so logging friends know what has happened should I fall of my perch. It is sad when your blogging friends disappear and you don't know what has happened. It does make you wonder why. I guess our wishes re the blog can be included in what happens at the end with everything. Your LB Blocks are looking beautiful.
Forgot to say your new header is very pretty.
That was a lovely piece you wrote. What very sad news. The girls in her group will truly miss her.
This blogging world has opened up so many new friendships for all of us and it is such a good thing. We share the good times and bad and it helps. Sad news about Tania and it does make you think about what to do regarding your blog or other social media presence when the end comes.
I suppose once we share a blog friendship... we share the good times and the bad...and also the sad times.
I like to think we are not sitting all alone at the end of a phone line...so someone will know our situation... & perhaps share a comment or two at some point. xox
