Chookshed emergency averted.......

Enjoying a bubbles with my friend Kylie...........
Calm relaxed...............Kylie knitting and me hhmmm fiddling probably...........anyway we could hear a branch rubbing on the roof...............funny as I had not heard it the day before..........oh well must get Mr Chooky to cut that branch down it's a little annoying........

A few hours later we went out and discovered it was the whole tree leaning on the Chookshed.............
OMG DISASTER!!!!!!
Its a big tree.............
It shades over lots of the Chookshed roof..............
and it's a big heavy tree..............
At 3am I was panicking about the storm that came thru if the tree would actually fall on the the Chookshed.............i had moved machines inside just in case.........but as we found this on dark and Mr Chooky didn't get home til almost then it was to late and dark to do any climbing on the roof to chop down a tree...............
Amazing this morning it was about a 1-2cms off the gutter...........but Mr Chooky and Boy Wonder got up and cut it all down...........I wasn't taking a risk..........
A pile of it went to the other side of the shed into the ute to take away 2 loads.....but this is the huge pieces Mr Chooky kept cutting off in slices to keep them lighter...........
You know how some trees have heavy wood and others lighter well his one is a heavy sucker............look at the pile to cart away beside the shed..............broke the top wire off the fence but that shouldn't be too bad to fix up..............
we still have about 7ft tree trunk to the right of the pic to deal with but this is not such a worry now.........
Here's the tree before the chop down.............
Here it is after..........the poor Chookshed looks bare............
it does give lots of shade..........all gone now............
Thankgoodness we found this problem before it fell harder onto the Chookshed.........imagine the disaster then.............
More storms floating around this arvo.........
Catch you later............
Chookyblue............

Good thing you could react in time - bad thing that the shade is gone now.
Stay safe

Oh dear! I hope you are safe and sound at the moment. Good thing that tree didn't fall straight through the chookshed. Poor chooks would have been fluttering in a panic. Glad it is sorted now. Keep safe and I hope you are feeling better. I am sure the champers would have helped in your healing. Hehehe.

Whoa! So glad to hear there was a happy ending (though not as cool and shady an ending).

I am sure you will miss the shade, but better than having the Chookshed leveled! Might there be a quick growing tree to replace it?

That was a good save. It's still very windy here

Disaster controlled! Yeah Mr Chooky! Now that there's no shade you could add solar panels to the roof to run the sewing machines inside! (okay not likely to happen but it sounds cool!)

How lucky were you ... definitely would have been a disaster if it fell harder. Great job Mr Chookyblue and Wonder Boy.

Thank goodness! That would have indeed been a disaster!! :-)

I love trees--and the shade they give--and home for nests for the birds and squirrels--so I hate it when I see someone cutting one down--BUT--there are times when there is no other way to handle a tree than to cut it down before it blows over onto something--I was sad when we lost a couple trees down by the river where I sit on the dock every day--(during Hurricane Matthew--) so know where you are coming from--

Phew, lucky the wind didn't bring it down when you were not home and let the water inside. And such a pity to loose all that summer shade. The weather has been so windy here and now cool, hard to believe summer is coming! I went outside yesterday and found a branch (only the thickness of my arm, nothing like yours) had fall off the tree....ironically next to real chook shed too! Mind you I have to walk under this tree to get to my compost bins so I am now more worried its going to drop a limb on my head!

We've had a few near misses with trees on our property too. We've lived here for a year....still learning what we should leave....what we should be concerned about.. glad no real damage done there!

That was a disaster averted!!! Thank goodness. You will miss the shade but better than having the chookshed damaged. Hope you enjoyed the bubbles.

So pleased to hear the Chookshed all in one piece. Same about the shade though. Calls for another drink I think!

Very Lucky Chook Shed.

Phew how lucky disaster avoided Chooky. You will miss the shade in the summer, but at least you still have a Chookshed

Glad your chook shed's okay. The storms over here in SA have blown a lot of large old trees down in our area too.

Glad it all worked out Chooky. Could have been really nastly. Loved reading how you heard the scraping and ignored it - I probably would have to.
