Mystery Adventure @ Scrub Stitchin'

Saturday I had organised a mystery adventure/activity...............
prior to this I had told them they needed to bring comfortable walking shoes/gear to the retreat........
On Friday I told them to have there walking shoes on, some hand stitching and be ready at 8am Sat morning...........
What I hadn't told them was I had a bus arriving at 8am to take them away.........
Here we all are on the bus..............
With nearly all the girls having never been to the area I wanted to show them the beauty of the Pilliga Scrub...........
Once we headed off into the scrub I told them where we were going...........
It was a slower trip as the road was so rough.........
A massive area of the Pilliga Scrub had been burnt out in a fire in January this year.......It burnt for weeks.............We drove thru  a section of this.......thankfully they worked very hard to stop the fire burning thru Dandry Gorge.........

To my surprise everyone went on the walk........even the ones who were worried about walking...........the sculptures are wonderful I think they are very special..........everyone was amazed to find this in the middle of no where in the scrub.........

We were the only ones there...........it is so tranquil walking out in the bush..........

lots of different mediums used for the sculptures.........
Bronze aboriginal man with a little child on his shoulder..............
he is amazing..........

My favorite.........axe heads representing black and white........
so smooth.............I love rubbing my hands over them.........

The other side of the gorge..........driving thru most of the scrub you would think it is flat.......some areas are  far from it........

I love this rock too.........
you just wander along the path and suddenly another sculpture appears..............

these ones were made at the back of one of the shops in town and people could go in and place some of the tiles and be part of the project......

At one point in the gorge you look up and can see the aboriginal man again.........beautiful........

The top walk is where the sculptures are and it is beautiful up there but it is also beautiful down in the bottom along the creek..........

Some caves in the cliff face too.............

And the reward for all that walking was delicious scones jam and cream.........thanks to my Mum........

A couple of girls got some stitching in when they got back from the walk.............
I wasn't sure if they would want to come back to Baradine so sharing the beauty of the area was important.............
They loved it........and the Yowie didn't get anyone.........
Back to Camp Cypress for lunch.........
More to come..........
Catch you later...........Chookyblue.........

Harriet and I had the best time. It was fun from the get go. There was always someone laughing. Such a beautiful tribe of women ready to encourage, praise and share.
