poddy calves update.............

I know i've taken a few pics here and there but they have not made it to the blog........sorry I thought of you but never got the posts up............

........but here are the kids............

yes they have grown...........

they have no respect for fences so that is annoying me at the moment but they just run in there own little mob so they do stick together.............

"Mini" (far right) is still tiny..........bit like a keg on legs............

They found this wilga tree branch blown down with last weeks wind while I was moving them and I just had to stop and wait..............they loved the leaf treat..........nothing very exciting to eat in the paddocks...............

fabric heaven.......

how can I resist a pack of gorgeous fabric from Shiralee Stitches........I just had to have it............sorry Jane you have to drool until yours arrives.............

I am so in love with Victoria Park....

trying to think what to do with this piece to showcase it the best way..........

and while shopping I found the sale page and got some "diet" Double Chocolat"

bits......

Sometimes I see things and think of you bloggies knowing you would be very unlikely to see this.............walking up to the ramp I saw this track across the road...............thank goodness it had little feet beside the track meaning it is a bigger lizard or a smaller goanna......(I saw a goanna in the garden last week)......but it was going towards the house..........just please it wasn't a snake track.......

the track showed up well with the late afternoon shadows......

I have started playing with all my random EPP shapes I have collected..............

the colours are a little off as it is a nice purple but I have a very vague idea and in my idea this EPP block is on the outside border.......it may take some time to evolve but  eventually it may happen............

I really enjoyed making this shape up though........so will enjoy making lots more.............

what not to do............

So i'm trying to do 10000 steeps a day..........and especially making sure I average 10000/per day in the week.........I have a gadget and when I started I was not doing enough so I had to make sure I stepped things up - so to speak..........

anyway a twitch in the ankle doing cattle work put me out for a few weeks..........it wasn't too bad but I was not averaging 10000.........ankle feels better now so back to the goal........

stupid me checked the gadget last night and as I had a lazier day yesterday not enough steps in the day had happened but worst still I was just not quite going to make it for the week either.........so at about 11pm (why I was up this late who knows) I started lapping around the house in and out of rooms, verendahs etc trying to get enough steps up...lucky I have a big house......it was ok to start as I was dropping things in places where they should have been but then it got BORING.....I felt like a "pacman" zooming around the game.....so at about 11.15PM i conned Boy Wonder into walking around the outer house yard.....problem was we got to the front ramp and the wind was so cool from the south (in my summer nighty - lucky I don't have close neighbours and traffic) we decided to head back inside...........I was so close so I had to wander around the house a few more times and finally made it..............

NOTE TO SELF don't check weekly target at 11pm on the last day.........get butt into gear earlier..............

harvest.............

yesterday I escorted Mr Chooky and the header to my Dads farm for a little bit of harvest......so boring you have to drive so slow........Dad had a very light crop of oats to strip for seed for next year.......

Whenever you move a header on a public road you must have a vehicle escorting it........

flashing lights, flags, signs, so many rules..........

some of my brothers arrived back from working away.........to say they have a few working dogs is a serious understatement...............they have piles of dogs.........the few in the pics here are just a handful...........

they have great working dogs..........Boy Wonder gets tips from them too and one of his pups came from one of my brothers............

the oats being augered into the silo.........

trying to race the storm..............harvest is always a battle with the weather........it's always the start of the stormy season and hot.......Mr Chooky was trying to get this finished before the storms came......

they didn't get much rain and were right to harvest again today........knocked off by storms again this evening..............if you get any moisture it stops the crop from being snapped off properly by the header.........

But just as we were finishing emptying the oats into the silo and cleaning out the header the wind hit.........OMG...........it was horrible...........the dust billowing around..........

the wind and dust stayed up for quite awhile...........I wasn't at home when it hit here but the windows are filthy on the front of the house as I think they only got muddy spots of rain to dirty the windows.........nothing else........and the dust/dirt in the pool is unbelievable............the grit that gets everywhere in the house.........on the verendahs.........

Today was a little cooler but windy all day..............I didn't bother opening the house tonight even though it has cooled down with the change coming thru but there is still dust in the air.........

Jacaranda's.........

My favourite tree that I can grow well in my garden is a jacaranda.............so this is my favourite time of the year...................I have them everywhere...........

I know some people will say they are blooming messy trees but that is forgotten with their beauty.............

I think I have about 19-20 in the garden...........

yep heaps........

my bouganvillea's are putting on an amazing display...........

so together they are stunning............

the garden is doing amazingly well considering the drought...........but as spring has sprung some things have not sprung back to life and a few are struggling..........

gardening is not easy out here..........I am constantly chasing hoses etc...... watering things and thankfully my big dam has a good supply of water for summer this year unlike some of our other dams..........

But I would not live out here without a garden.......you need a sanctuary............
