Anni and her designs.....................

The gorgeous Anni Downs from Hatched and Patched was the designer for 

Girls Day in the Country this year. 

Myself, Annette (my new friend) and Anni

(Annette the contact thingy for the girls did didn't work so I don't know how to contact you or and of the girls with you)

the beautiful designs Anni made for us to work on this  year..........block roll, pincushion, scizzor keeper and a needlebook showing both sides for you...............made with Anni's latest fabrics using stitchery, applique, wool applique what ever method we chose to use.............

I got a scizzor keeper made on the day............

Friends.....

I always wonder what happens to blog friends that just drop offline......sometimes I leave a comment on their last post and sometimes they reply...........just busy with other stuff or stopped blogging...........sometimes I hear nothing........

Once one of the overseas ladies in my SSCS swap was seriously ill in hospital and got one of her friends to contact me................

the friend also let me know how seriously ill she was and sadly so very sadly she passed on a few months later.....thankfully her friend let me know..........

occassionally a blogger has said on there blog they are stopping...........sad but nice to know whats happened............

this week I was sad to read that Tania @ Ollie and T passed away

I've never met Tania.........but I felt like I knew her............she was one of the Gisborne Girls.......always fun gatherings with the Gisborne Girls.........Sue @ Kiwikids Page one of the Gisborne Girls posted about Tania here..........way to young to die.......

While I was sad to read this it was nice/odd to know what happened.............I do wonder what would happen if we died.........would our online friends know........

it's not like we have the same connections online that we have in real life........in our local community or extended family.........

A few more of Shiralee Stitches Lucy Boston BOM blocks finished.....this is 15, 17 and the most recent 18 (14 and 16 cut but not sewn yet)..........i've had some time in the car so got some stitching done............seriously addicted  to Lucy..............I am planning Lucy 2........

this is a BOM you can join any time...........i've been there from the start...............some are only joining for 12 or 16 blocks........some for piles as they want to make a queen size quilt........it's a long slow process but I am loving "My Friend Lucy"....

more Nundle coming soon..........I felt sad thinking of the fun times we have with our blog friends and just couldn't post cheeriness when I have been thinking about Tania and how sad her friends would be right now........thinking of the fun/sad times they had with their friend.......

Rewind to GDITC Friday...............

rewind to Friday Girl Day in the Country.............

the day started with odd clouds and finished with a big storm............

 We arrived before lunch so popped into a couple of shops before lunch...........

Odgers and McClelland Exchange Store is always on the stop list......

Nundle Woolen Mill OMG the colour in the wools was gorgeous...........

Lunch time then..........nearly everyone here............

The Peel Inn is the meeting spot...............

smiles and happiness all round..........

love going back thru all my pics............

then it's off to The Cottage on the Hill..............

might make a quilt like this later in the year when I return for retreat............

so much sitting around chatting...................LOVE it.............

Daddy daycare......

I snapped this pic when I went to check the windmill..........it's been to still and not windy and we have very limited bore water at the house which showers and washes everything...........

so there is a mountain of linen to wash and the clothes are mounting up waiting for some windy days...........the cows get to drink first..............

Often you will find a pile  of calves with one cow........yesterday it was Mr Bully and a pile of calves hanging out.............I thought of Daddy Daycare straight away..........lol....

got my pics from GDITC off my phone now I need to organise the posts but I have been busy with the visitors and kids around..........and I have a million posts /mails to comment/reply to........

Lucy challenge.....

I have been thinking for a bit  it would be cool to make one Lucy Boston block with the one piece of fabric..............the challenge was set I had this fabric and Sonia and a beautiful but terrible piece...........(the repeat was no quiet enough)

so many options..........

what to decide

some got rejected.........

this one has 1/2 and 1/2 options

still not completely happy i kept cutting and playing

 

this is what I finally decided on.............took hours and hours but it was fun seeing what we could both get out of our fabrics.............I missed getting pics of Sonias and it is funny that we see different options in the fabrics even after looking at them for ages..............

After taking hours and hours to get those done we hooked in to some serious block production.............we both have 7 cut each.........it was great fun digging into someone elses stash and seeing what we could swap around............still got a few bits on my design board who don't have a home yet but cleared some out..............OMG the mess...........bits of fabric everywhere........

It's been great to play with Sonia @ Forever Always and Lucy for a short time..............Sadly I have to go to work and Sonia has to move onto another destination............

Mind you I can hardly walk with from the cramp I got in my calf on Sunday morning.........
