If you are overseas I am sure Australia would be making the news today.........Where I am it is just darn hot and dry and no change here for a few more days.............we have not had a day under 30degC since 27th Dec and nothing under 37 for more then 2 weeks.........not to many over 40 but consistenly hot.......
Down south there was extreme heat and bad winds and fires started and Victoria has had terrible loss of life (25 so far update 52 people now 80 +) and homes (100's650+ ), and properties.............yesterday was the worst type of day for fires...........and they had lots and lots of them..........about a dozen still very bad..........I am thinking of my bloggy friends down south.........and those who have lost life and property thru this disaster...........they have had a major change go thur and things have cooled down but the fires are still way out of control...........
North of Sydney there is a fire buring out of control and there is no change in the weather there today just extremely hot........
the northern parts of Queensland are having floods and more floods............Ingham is one of the worst hit towns.........but there is a huge area affected..........
My thoughts are with all those affected...........especially the farmers burnt out or flooded..........
.........take care til next time.....Chookyblue......... |

Oh, Donna - it is so tragic - what can we do? It all seems so hopeless for those folks!
Hugs - Lurline♥
I just saw the fires on the news. I told my husband I knew it was so hot in Australia from bloggers. Sad.
Pretty awful isn't it? We are OK here, a couple of small grass fires, but very bad in Bendigo about an hour away. Lots of smoke last night. Hope rain comes today.
Oh Donna,
it's so sad...if only we could do something..
Pray for rain, and that it all is over soon..

I am so sad today Donna...the fires and floods are just devastating....the loss of life too difficult to comprehend. The people of Victoria sure have had their share of of fires over the years. How long ago was "Ash Wednesday"?

Having my friend Cheryl in Victoria, I keep close tabs on the weather. You guys have been baking! So sorry to read about the fires. The article mentioned that it was so hot that trees exploded! Unbelievable! Well keep kool! Hoping for some rain in the dry area!
This is the first that I have heard of this. Evidently I haven't been watching the news. I can't do much from here, but I can pray.
Yesterday was just amazingly terrible, and unfortunately the cool change did not help the situation much; the wind made the fires change direction. My sister's aunt and uncle lost their home.
Must say I am a happier bunny today; early 20s in Ballarat today compared to yesterday's 41 - and even a few spots of rain. We haven't had so much as a whiff of smoke here, so we do feel very lucky, and were shocked to learn of the fires in Bendigo, about an hour away from here, and in other areas, and that Marysville in the lovely Yarra Valley has been wiped out. Loss of property is bad enough, but at least 25 people are dead; so tragic.
I hope things get better soon Donna. WE know how bad the fires can get around here. It's very scarey.
Am speaking with my mother just now and my cousin's farm is in the path up at Tooboorac. Keep the CFA in your thoughts.
These fires are so horrific.... 65 people have died so far in the 6pm news.... we are lucky here.... I think...I hope..... yesterday it was too close for comfort.... am praying for these poor people and heavy rain....
I hear from you...I didn't know...
The only thing I can do is praying for rain and for people....

what i find so hard to understand is that some of the fires were deliberately lit and after fire fighters had put some out, the arsonist returned and restarted them. it's such a waste. i'm praying that no morel lives are lost.....

Hi Donna, the Kinglake fire is the closest one to us, about 35 minutes away. Two of our friends, that we know of, have lost their homes - it's devastating. What we need is rain!
I offer everyone in Australia who is affected by the heat and the fires my heartfelt prayers. It seems somuch has been devastated in so many ways across the world this season. Go well. Be safe.
Hi. We hear a lot of all the fires her on the new in Norway. It is realy terrible.... I hope you will get rain soon.
Hugs.
You are all in our thoughts and prayer!
I have been thinking of you and all the other bloggers that I have "met" in the past few months, saying little prayers that you are all right and sending good thoughts your way. We have dear friends who were affected by the recent fires in Yorba Linda, CA and know what a horrible thing these fires are when they get going. I hope that cool weather will soon come.
Yes, we in the US have heard about the fires and floods in Australia. We know how devastating those can be for people living through them and want you all to know that we are praying for the people of Australia who are hurting today.
It's horrible. I've just been reading the updates. Prayers go out to everyone... everywhere...
I am also thinking of the people that have been affected.
We have heard all about it all over here in Norway. And I must say I realy feel sorry for everyone affected!!
Take care....
Spent time on the internet today reading your newspapers and looking at the photos of all the devestation. It is truly heartbreaking. My prayers go out to all of you affected by this tragedy.
Hi I'm popping in (nosing around) fellow Time For Tea Swappers.
Yes the news made it big in the UK. The weather is so out of wack world wide at the moment. I'd send the snow if I could.
I'm sure Blogland will help as soon as needs are known.
