what a great post Chooky, could you please tell me how you cook your yabbies as we have some in our dam,but i didnt know how to cook them so hubby put them back in,and what a cute little calf she is the image of mum.
I live in the "country". I like to say that, I live about 50 miles east of Los Angeles, but we have a lot of dairy farms around us that housing development hasn't forced out. There is a farm I pass everyday to the train that has a bunch of these cows and I always call them the Oreo cows. I never knew what they were called. So cute that baby is!
Love the sunset photo and how gorgeous is it to teach a young girl sewing skills. Sadly my DD never showed any interest and still doesn't. Maybe one day??
lovely pics... I have to say my favourite is those crusty chicks..... so much fun they are having....

Little girls that can ride and sew, very talented! Love that calf, so cute!
Oohh.... she's the sweetest little girl... :) Very cute!! We got some yabbies here over the weekend too. The visitors ate them as they'd never had them before! I'm the only one in my house that can eat seafood... so we don't bother getting any just for us!
What a Cutie!! From your photos your holiday visitors do a lot of similar activities as our holidays visitors :-) Yabbies, bikes and any other farm stuff that maybe happening ... and they love it!
Happy stitching,P
Cool photos chooky and love that little calf!
Yabbies? What in the heck is this? Never heard of such a thing.

Great photos Chooky - lots happening at your place.
Lots of great pictures, the calf is just so cute! And the dirtbike girls are just too cool!
That big pot of yabbies certainly brings back childhood memories - thanks for sharing them
De koe lijkt wel een Lakenvelder, een Hollandse koe, zeldzaam soort. Hier is het vandaag ook veel koeder als wat we afgelopen dagen gewend waren, brrrr......
Cutie and her baby are adorable! Oh that pot of yabbies - yum, wish I was there to share! Beautiful sunsets and happy kids, looks like a great week in Chooky world.
Gorgeous calf!
The bit I like about teaching kids to sew is when they can thread the needle and tie knots themselves!
What size bike is FairyGirl riding?
Belted Galloways are my favourites. I keep telling CK that one day wehn we start farming (hahahahahahaha) I will be having Belted Galloways.
Loved your post Chooky.
The Crusty Chicks are real cool.
She is a cutie too. Great yabby haul, yum.

What a cute little calf! We have a lot of cattle farms in the area but I don't recognize the types of cows. It was interesting to read about them!
Well I'll have the calf but you can keep the yabbies looks like fun around your place just now
A precious baby indeed.....i so enjoy your blog...
Oreo cows! Thats what we call them here. How sweet. 20,000 Pictures!!
Just catching up as you might have guessed. I wish I could fit a black and white cows in my back yard.
What are yabbies? Do I want to know? I hope they are nothing like Mountain Oysters or something. eeeewwwww!
You have some great looking Belted Galloways there. I live right in the heart of the home of 'Belties' in Dumfries & Galloway. It's great to see them half a world away. They have a reputation for being fiesty over here... good luck with that.
Adorable! I just love cattle! I love all farm animals. Working towards getting a chicken coop in my yard. Lovely picks! What time did you want me over for those yabbies? ;o) Cheers!
Oh how cut...mother & daughter matching outfits...how upmarket are you???? They look pretty cute...I feel very rural knowing what a belted galloway is! I am loving that oreo cow comment...I don't feel so silly. Love those crusty chicks!
The little calf is so cute as is her Mom..Cutie!! Ok...what's a yabbie? Don't mind me I'm from Southern California and never heard that one before!
Great photos!!
Looks like you're all having a great time on the farm. I love the new baby calf. There's a children's story book featuring a belted galloway cow called Clancy...your kids would love it...it's called "Clancy the Courageous Cow"...Clancy was different from all the other belted galloways....message of discrimination/looking different....maybe you should read it to the baby who looks different from it's mother....he/she may be in need of some therapy...!!!???
Awwww your new calf is adorable!
I remember my brothers and I catching yabbies with a tiny piece of steak tied to a string ... those were the days :o)
Belted Galloways are my absolute favourites! What a great roundup of family life...thanks for reminding me of life on the farm Chooky :)
Just read the other comments...Clancy the Courageous Cow is one of our favourite books :)
Love all your pictures! I'm putting in an order for an oreo calf for next spring....LOL The crusty girls look like they are having a blast!! MMMmmmmmmmm crawdads...... :D
I haven't seen a belted galloway cow in about 6 years. I used to live in the country and drive by some on our way to the city. I've always thought they were the cutest cows on earth. That baby girl sure is sweet. Thanks for sharing the photo's.
Dutch belted! I used to be an AI tech, so can usually recognize most breeds. A family down the road are raising/showing White Park cattle. Our favorites were the Beef Shorthorns--those lovely roans of course! Snow here, grandson was outside with a mixing bowl and a cattle dip ladle. It was 74F last week, and now 5-6" wet snow. ugh I'm sure my flowers are in shock.
