40 and 22 = heaven................

The weather sure has heaps to do with your mood.............I've been in the doldrums lately with the last few weeks way worse............so many places getting flooding rains and we couldn't get a decent fall of rain.............it has been so dry here.........
for the last 7 months we have had 332points (83mls)
for the last 11 months we have had 796points (199mls)
I've no idea how long we have been feeding sheep and cattle now but it's been a fair while..........
finally we got a decent fall..............40mls
40 beautiful slow gentle soaking mls..........
a couple of dams got some run off - this one has a road to help it...........it wonderful seeing water run into the dam............
remember this dam.............it's the one the kids were waist deep in mud........they desilted the dam and it is now deeper and close to full...........
this dam was in the link above too and it has some bare ground around it so fills fairly easy............
we have lots others that didn't get much in them but atleast the worst ones have filled or are close to full...........
lovely to see some water along the creek..............
the big old gums/box trees have been struggling with no water for so long.............
I usually am pretty happy with summer but this one has been so hot and long...............
some stats below more for me since I print my blog book each year.........
this summer has been a hot dry one...........
some average temps below
Nov 32.7degC  (+2.2) ( I know not summer but I class it as summer)
Dec 35.5  (+2.9)
Jan 37.6   (+2.9) record heat ever 46.7degC
Feb 33.3   (-.3)

Now the importance of 22 is the temp ...........for the whole of summer we had 7 days under 30 the lowest being 26.7deg.
yesterday was heaven................22degC max...........most of the day was 20deg.........
now it has been 41/2 months since it was that temp for a day.............
as we rode the bikes around checking the dams we called into the neighbours and ended up staying for lunch............perfect lunch lamb and corn fritters and champagne for celebrate...............perfect comfort food............bit different to last week when we had a bottle of champs to drown our sorrows........sulking about the lack of rain and all the dust...........
While the rain won't fix everything we do need more rain to come on top of this, but it sure does make me feel a bit better and cut out some dust for a few days.......perk up my mood for a bit..........
ok gotta go.........23 maximum forecast for today........glorious I must be in heaven..........
I'll be watching the brown ground spring to life with green shoots.......
Catch you later..............

We are still waiting for rain down here but at least we have clear blue skies today and no humidity. That is what does me in! I cannot wait to hear a good down pour on the roof, I may just go out and dance in it!

Glad you've had some to settle the dust!

Cheers - Joolz

I am so relieved for you Chooky......I have felt rather guilty complaining of the constant rain here knowing you were sooo dry. You asked how much rain we'd had for this year and I almost daren't tell, but you did ask......John estimates between 20 to 30 inches so far this year and it's raining steadily today......we are quacking here!!!!Our Clarence R has been in flood twice this year, quite unusual......I hope you keep getting some falls and keep sipping that champs.......

Oh Chooky - so very happy for you. Its been so dry here in Melbourne but we don't live off the land and I always wonder about the animals and how they cope in the extremes. Can't believe that average temp for november! Incredible. Onwards and upwards hey!

Fantastic news! Hope you get a bit more over the next few days too. And that it remembers to stop! You certainly live in the land of extremes....

That's such good news.
Born in a country where it rains way too much it's hard to imagine not having any for months on end.
I hope you get more rain and that you continue to enjoy the pleasant 22C temps.

I'm so happy you got some much needed rain. We sure of lots here, the pineapple express came through with more rain than we need. I hope you get more cooler temps.

So glad you've had some respite. I didn't think this summer had been so bad but according to all reports it was record breaking maybe I have just got use to the heat (which I doubt) or maybe we did have cool days in amongst all the heat unlike you.

I'm so glad the weather is improving for you. We are deep in snow and I am extremely vitamin D deficient according to my Dr.! I bet Ausies never have that problem! I need sunshine!!! And you need more rain!

So thrilled about your rain! We ended up with 30mm, which was very welcome indeed. I've never watched the Weather Channel as much in my life as what I have the last couple of months. And we are in jeans and jumper for the second day in a row... amazing how much more energised the cooler weather makes you. The water in those ground tanks would be a very welcome sight!
