I've been holding out on what I what I was going to change too but with 10 days to go I have made my final decision and it was nailed only just now having read a news announcement about Feedly.........you can read it on the Feedly blog too.....
I looked at blog lovin early on but didn't like the look of it............
So then I found Feedly......Googy Girl and I were using it and chatting about it..........I was pretty happy with the look I changed a few settings and it pretty much looked just like google reader.........
I was a little concerned because if I read posts in google reader it was updating in Feedly too.....I was worried Feedly was based somehow on Google reader and would i have issues once google reader died on 1st July....my concern was confirmed in what I have read this morning.....and here....
Feedly was using Google readers platform in the background BUT problem solved with 19th June announcement FEEDLY has a new cloud and has become it's own platform woohoo......
....so now when google reader goes it won't bother Feedly
So now I am definitely very happy with Feedly and will be sticking with it to read my blogs.......
NOW it not only works in the google environment it also works on Internet Explorer and iPhones and Androids too plus more but these are the main ones i paid attention to......
If you have no idea what I am talking about i'll attempt to explain.........
When you write a blog post it gets sent out as a RSS feed (in the background of doing a post - you see nothing of this)
Feedly and Blog Lovin are RSS feed readers. Meaning you can have an account with them. You go to one page and subscribe to all the blogs you want to read there and the RSS readers work in the background searching all the blogs you follow and as soon as your favourite blog does a new post it gets pulled into the one spot. So you can just go to Feedly and open one page and all the updates are there from when you visited last time. Saves going to open all your friends blogs only to find they may or may not have written a new post.
What to do if you haven't used google reader well just go and start a new account in Feedly and you can subscribe to the blogs you want to follow.
For you untechy ones out there NONE of this will affect your blog as it is now.
Your blog will open as usual.
You do not need to claim your blog anywhere for it to keep going.
.........take care til next time.....Chookyblue......... |

Glad someone knows what's going on!
I've been using Bloglovin for a couple of weeks now and I've liked it. Is it very different than Feedly?
Thats great info Donna, thank you ..... I have just been ignoring it all hoping it would just go away lol but I guess I have to do something as time is running out so I will check out both of them.
Thanks
Helen
great information chooky.xx
I am glad that I am not the only one to go the Feedly way. I downloaded both apps ( Feedly and Bloglovin) to my iPad and I planned to give them both a good try. But I kept going back to Feedly and decided it was the one me. I like using it and have been reading most of my blogs this way. Now I need to check out your links to see what more I can learn about it. Thanks.
Thankyou for this information. I ignored it hoping it never happened.
Hello Donna,
I tried them both, I personally have the blogs I follow on Feedly but joined Bloglovin as a option for others to follow my blog. Using Google Chrome Feedly suited me. I have since found out a lot of bloggers don;t use a reader, which is rather interesting.
No rain here yet, we have had about 1.5ml since the start of Winter.
Hope things are growing in your part of the country.
Happy days.
Bev.
Can you see my brain freeze over?
Think I need a lie down after all your wonderful info...
Now after reading all this I have just added Bloglovin'....I don't use a feeder anyway I have just been reading from the Dashboard....now I'm all confused!!!
Thanks Miss I.T. I think i will just keep reading blogs from my sidebar - but if I get anywhere near the tally you have I will reconsider.
As long as everyone can still read my posts and make comments I will let sleeping dogs lie.
But I do appreciate you letting us all know...
Why OH why do they see a need to change things.
If it ain't broken...then!!! :)
Excellent Post...I've just moved to the feedly cloud this morning after using it for a couple of months. I've also looked at bloglovin and I'm not sure they have their own cloud or not, so it will be interesting to see if that still works after google reader closes.
One thing for people to note is that when you move from Google to feedly and move to their cloud system it does lose the unread counts (just that once) so don't be alarmed when you start feedly up and it says you have 1500 unread posts :o)
Thanks for that. I have been trying blogluvin and feedly and also one called The Old Reader, think I have decided on Feedly too. App is good as well as on computer..
Just not sure how to subscribe to a blog on feedly tho
I haven't made any changes yet but this will help when and if I need. Thanks.
Thanks for the info I've been using Bloglvin but th on dwnside s you can't comment on some blogs frustrating might try feedly
Hope you are well
Gee errror correction drives me Nuts!!!
I'm using feedly too. I didn't like that bloglovin' makes you click over to every blog to read them -- yikes. Plus, I don't get that whole "claim your blog" thing. What's that all about???
Back Again I just downloaded Feedly on my Ipad Love it! It's so stylish and love the layout...Thanks for the Heads Up you a Gem xx
I have switched to Feedly as well, and it seems to work great!
Thanks for the info Chooky. Like everyone else I have been putting it off. Guess I better do something before I run out of time. Hugs....
I am sew pleased you know what you are doing Donna. As I always read the blogs I follow on the dashboard do I need to do anything??? Would appreciate your help... thanks..
Hello,
Thanks for the info about Feedly, because I'm not very happy with Bloglovin and July is very close.
Thanks for this... I did as others and downloaded them both to try... but prefer Feedly ... I don't really understand it all so your explaination helped....
Hugz
I use Feedly on the ipad but need to do something for the laptop...will download Feedly today as I do like it!
Thanks for that information Chooky, you always explain things so well. I have always just read blogs posts when they appear on my Dashboard, and am happy enough with that. Gosh it seems there are so many Reader facilities available!!
Sorry... it has just occurred to me that if a blogger is using Feedly or Bloglovin' or the like, they are going to a whole other site & sign-in, just to read the blogs they Follow, is that right? I can understand that a person would use those Readers if they themselves don't blog, but it seems like a lot of clicking around for bloggers who already have their Dashboard. Heavens I must sound like a 'stick in the mud'!!
I will be watching with interest what happens when Google Reader ceases soon...
Thanks, cos it was confusing me, I just read them from my dashboard, so nice to know i dont need to action anything else.
Great read . . . I am a Feedly fan - very easy to use - this is all too hard to comprehend sometimes, why can't things just remain the same!!!
I have a Mac so I use NetNewsWire. I can understand everyone's angst about new readers and I'm sure glad I don't have to worry! :-)
One part of me is curious about these new fangled ways to keep up with blog reading. Of course the other part is scared of new things. What if I do change then don't like it? Oh boy! I don't know what to do. I've always used my dashboard to keep up with reading..... I know I still can but am I in danger of becoming a fossil!! ;o) Thanks for the info....
OMG lots of info there thanks... I haven't done anything either like some I have just been ignoring it as I have no idea what to do... as my blog account is in another email account that I had a few years back and now I can't change it... will I lose my blog with all these changes???? xxx
It's great to hear your thoughts about Feedly. I like Bloglovin but a lot of people are talking about Feedly so I might just have to pop over and check it out.
