Hello miss Chooky, I think the only difference between the two glues is the brand so you should be ok with either!
Hi Chooky - looks like the perfect weather for being in the Shed - I don't use the glue, sticking with thread for my hexy's -but if the glue is only going to be in place for a short time, maybe the colour doesn't matter so much?
if i did all the 'social' internet stuff that it seems so many people do, I wouldn't get a stitch done!!
I just use the cheap Bostick blue glue stick found in the supermarket. It is designed for fabric too and is only $2.
Your weather sounds like ours..misty but only 8 degrees..I haven't used the glue pens but wonder if it is like the chalk wheel things..some colours can be seen better on certain coloured fabrics..hopefully they all dry clear...looks like you had a busy time with all that prep work..not much time for stitching or blogging here this week ..busy writing school report comments..
hi Chooky sorry i am no help with the colours of the glue stick refills, but i love Mel's idea, might give that a try.
Cant wait to see what you are working on,i have just finished a stitchery i will post soon.I am having a lazy day today,i wore my self out over the last 2 days, lol, having too much fun, enjoy your sewing my friend,xx
I don't use the glue for the EPP. How does one remove the papers? I still sew the fabric onto the paper--- is a lot more time consuming.
Weather here is wet and very wintery today. Been cooking lamb shanks -- in the oven at the moment. Real winter weather food.
Anyone going to the Sydney craft show in July?
I use the blue gluestick by Sewline a lot, especially for needle turn applique. I love it, and haven't had problems with it. The blue doesn't seem to stain or mark the fabric. Much better than the bottled stuff, which always ends up leaving the sewing area stiff and unforgiving. Haven't seen the pink, so can't comment on that.
I usually use sewline...but have used other...I can't see a difference...overcast here...can't wait to see more
Don't think there is any difference . I use the blue because I can get that cheaper by buying it in bulk.
Nice drop of rain for you, we need some to fill tanks..
Beautiful cold sunny winters day today sew I am off for a walk with my friend now and then home to sew.
I also don't do all the FB stuff. Just blog.
Enjoy your day in the Chookshed.
I use the blue stick too, haven't seen pink. I'm enjoying the same weather today, doing some hand quilting and hanging out with the kids. Love the look of your project, nice fabrics and shapes.
Ow Chooky now all I can think of is fish fingers sandwiches with a lovely bit of aioli or tartare on the side. yummy.
I use both and don't know what the difference is, looks like a nice project, love the fabric choices. Enjoy your sandwich!
When the glue sticks first came here (to Norway) they were blue (I still have a couple of blue refills somewhere), but now you only get pink refills. I'm thinking it might have something to do with an agreement or collaboration between Sewline and Patchwork with busy fingers/Sue Daley. They promote the use of glue sticks pretty well with their products, and since they have pink packaging perhaps that's why they switched from blue to pink?

Actually, these glue stick refills are available in three colors - blue, pink and fluorescent yellow.(http://www.sewline-product.com/Sewline_Fabric_Glue_Pen)
(I had to look it up..) In that case I guess it's up to each importer or buyer to decide - and perhaps most buyers prefer the pink? (I'd like to try the yellow though..)
Oh, I'm excited here! You have pulled out your floral lanterns :-D And it sounds like you had fun playing with them in the chookshed over the weekend. I love the sneak peek you have given us! Your fabrics look lovely! Can't wait to see more!
I have used both the blue and the pink Sewline refill. They both dry clear, so in the end it doesn't matter which colour you use. Nemo might be onto something re. a collaboration between Sewline and Patchwork With Busyfingers, most places we see the pink refill also stock Sue Daley "stuff".
I have used both colours and have not found any thing different apart from the colour.... Looking forward to the next part of your English paper piecing journey
Cold here too chooky. I blog less in winter, no light for photos so another day passes and then another...
lovely and cold here too...loving winter as always! have made soup for lunches/dinners for the next few days and went out to the local footy (with my quilt and thermos of hot Milo) the girls laughed at first, but seemed quite happy to share :)
don't use the glue sorry .. so no idea why it is different colours xx enjoy the dampness while you can .. we have had lovely sunshine this last week .. today is my sister-in-laws B.day .. surprise B-B-Q later .. and its pouring down!! oops x never mind x we will still have fun x
No glue in this house....but no PP's either!
Just as wintery outside our windows.
Pumpkin soup for lunch....and dinner done by me as well! TV Footy for the menfolk ALL day AFL&Soccer.
5 more blocks of my Scrappy Trip-no fabulon -no screaming.
Hope it pours!
First day of winter here too. Like you sewing , just the circles to go on the Dresden.
Great weather for sewing. Not sure about the glue colour. Either is fine I think. hugs....
Pleased your temperature has dropped and you've had some rain:) cold here on the east coast of Tassie , I am working on some crochet tonight
Haven't seen pink glue - just pink glue containers- I think you need to be wary of the cheap stuff in case its not acid free...
Coolish here - btu a glorious sunny day - still in T-shirts...Will we get a winter??
I think I remember Sue Daley saying that the pink ones were made for her, so maybe you got the pink ones from her. I have only ever had the blue ones.
your gluing project looks interesting. very wintery here too-perfect for report writing :(
The project looks interesting, I'm anxious to see more of it. What I liked best in your photos though was the GREEN outside! Means it's been raining! Same here in the US BUT it's beginning to be a curse not a blessing--rainiest June on record here in Missouri.
Very wintry day here too....we had hot chips for lunch! I pulled out my paper piecing last week too!
Hello again. Re your glue question: I was just watching this video on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjK_PuR1Nl0 and she talks about the glue pens. She claims the pink is "stickier" than the blue... I just finished what I had of the blue and switched to the pink refil I just bought... can't say I feel a big difference...
It was a bleak weekend here too. Didn't we time our trip out your way well! There will be lots of hand stitching for you, if you have been running out of the glue. I even did a little stitching yesterday, just have to do a blog post. Keep warm.
must be a lovely big project you are preparing ...gorgeous fabrics...
Hugz
Sounds like both topics have been covered by above comments. I guess I'll just say HI then... HI :)
Hi Chooky, I don't use the glue, I quite enjoy tacking my paper hexies. Lots of hexies happening here, I have just started a scrappy hexie repro quilt, really enjoying the process. Your weather sounds great, we have had some lovely cool mornings here in the west, 2 degrees was our lowest and some lovely rain forecast from tomorrow - perfect. Have a great week, Natalie, West Aussie.
I don't use glue either but a friend does and she has both colours! How is that for confusing!! Cold day here too, misty rain this morning and 7deg. About to light the fire!
I don't use them Chooky, I am an old dinosaur and baste them LOL! Love EPP though. Love your wintery photo!
I am hand quilting and a spot of Applique.
Hi Chooky......I am still alive!!!...lol....and found a few moments to check out a few blogs....I love the paper piecing and the colours are definitely YOU. There is a choice of whether i buy pink of blue refills from sewline as a retailer and as far as I know colour is the only difference. I prefer the blue as it shows up better on the paper and fabric for me, but they both dry clear.......and I'd choose blue over pink anyday.....cold and windy here......hugs....Sandy
Hi chooky, i have only bought the blue ones not seem the pink. I wonder what you are making looks interesting
Stay warm!
I've used both the pink and the blue glue sticks...and... yellow and white.. so I'm bragging now! :o) They do all dry clear so I reckon it must be something to do with seeing the stuff on different coloured fabrics. Now I'm craving a fish finger sandwich.. with tomato sauce.. I've no class!! :o)) Hugs....
Don't you just love a project that has 'go-zillions' of pieces that take special preparation to get them done? Can't wait to see this finished! From what I read the different colors are so you can see the glue on the fabric. It comes in blue, pink, and yellow. Personally I use a different brand that is blue. I pick them up at Staples a local office supply store. Just pick up a cheap stick and test it...you might be spending more then you have to.

I have the pink ones and have never seen the blue...I get mine from Sue Daily so maybe that is the connection as all of her items seem to be in pink.
Looks like fun Chooky. Especially in the cold weather.
