Dust storm now.........

I went out to check the chooks and the sky to the west looked a bit funny............
that's because a dust storm was coming............
its been pretty ordinary for an hour or more now............and the wind has swung to the south but it is still strong and very dusty.............the temps are dropping though.........36 deg now............
Just before the dust hit  I took this pic..........hanging out in the sprinkler...........only about 10 varieties of birds in this photo........amazing......normally this would  never happen.......
Catch you later......
Chookyblue.......

Glad it's getting cooler, Chooky. I bet you've all been longing for lower temps. This weather's been tough on you.

It has been a week of hell for most of us in australia - and now catastrophic fire warnings and bushfires - today dropped back to 18 degrees here - how silly did I feel looking for track pants and long sleeves when yesterday I was flaked under the cooler (not) in a strappy big baggy dress. At least we haven't had the dust storms down here. Hang in there Chooky - hard to believe it will cool down when you are in high 40 temps - but it will.

Wow. On everything.

Gosh, the days sure have been hot in your neck of the woods. I feel for the animals, and to have some water going for them is lovely. I see the bush fires on the news and feel for those people too. Devastating. We have a hot, for us, day today, 34 degrees and that awful norwester which is so hot. Im off to run around the lawn with the mower and hopefully prune some roses back. They are looking a bit straggly right now. Do take care x

It is nice that the birds have a place in your yard to get a respite from the heat. When the blows here it gets warmer.

I hope you didn't get a house full of dust, it is wonderful you have the sprinkler on for the birds.

I love the warm weather, but I sure don't envy the temps you have been having recently. What a wonderful image of all the birds hanging out by the sprinkler.

The high temps that your area has endured are incredible. That reading in the chookshed would be intolerable. It's good to read that they are coming down a bit. I hope the fires die down with the cooler weather. It's amazing to see your photo of all those different birds in one place as in normal conditions, a lot of them tend to be quite territorial.

Amazing - that heat and the weather conditions must be horrific. Intersting to see the birds - but of course how can we forget that their needs in these conditions must be as great as ours. Hoping you have some relief from these conditions soon.

Guess you can't blame the poor little things - anywhere cool is fair game I think

Crickey! You're getting everything, aren't you?! Hope the cleanup isn't too horrendous.

Hope you didn't get too much dust inside, how nice it must be to look out onto that green grass and know that you're giving the birds a lovely cool refuge, hope it is a bit cooler today....

The weather is certainly having fun & games in Australia , isnt it?! Crazy stuff, but goes to show how big this country is

The poor birds will really have been suffering in this weather. I'm sure they appreciated a cool off under the sprinkler. I hope it stays cooler for a day or so.

That bird photo is amazing. Sunday was a shocker. Was thinking of you.

Wow! Is that from the lack of rain? I'm so confused about Aussie Weather. Some parts of Australia are flooded, others are dry .... Sigh .... which the weather would get its act together. I bet you're just loving the fine dust coating everywhere in your house! NOT! I so do NOT like to clean! Cheers!
