You Make My Day

Hi all
well I have given up on trying to join in with May Britt's WISP completions for January........I have one skirt complete which I gave to a friend....
.......I have managed to start several other projects (totally against the idea of May Britt's challenge) and participate in a few new projects - more about them in a later post............
My time is rapidly getting filled for the next few weeks so who knows what will happen and when........
I have been honoured to receive the You Make My Day award from 4 amazing blogland friends...........Aunties Quaint Quilts, Gudrun, Butterfly and Happy In Quilting.......thank you so much........

There are so many bloggers out there that MAKE MY DAY........put a smile to my face when I rise early in the morning that I cannot single out 10 so if you read my blog consider yourself tagged and continue on with the award..............

PS I have had the Christmas blog cleanup and gone back to the blue that i love and changed my header...........hope you like yesterdays sunset as much as I do.........

PSS I wished blogger would bring out a couple of new templates even if just in colour and layout..........

Fairy Girls Quilt Project..........

Technically this is a short term WISP Dec 2007.........Fairy girl stole some materials I had brought a few months ago.........we decided to make this pattern - we had her other quilt on the floor and laid the peices out on it (different pattern though) for size............problem - not enough materials wanted it a bit bigger.........
Problem solved I went shopping on the dining table to Sarah's Quilt Fabric Delights ........finished my order and this is what I ordered..............I think they will look great in the quilt..........more from Heather Bailey Freshcuts range - super efficient service I got it in town this morning.....
while I was there I found this great pattern from Thimble Blossoms........I only just found her blog in the last month or so and Sarah has the patterns so just HAD to get this one.........."sitting pretty"

Thanks for all the help on the last post..........I will continue and make the disappearing nine patch and now I will try and find some more materials on the internet........and thanks for all the great comments on the vegie patch...........

I have been productive........

We will start the post with the produce from the vegie patch.............the kids are having a ball with the vegie patch............this is the best corn I have ever seen.............and it tastes amazing......the pumpkins are going well........lost a couple with the flood........tomatoes are so nice home grown.....and the chooky's are laying...........

I have been dreaming of doing a disappearing nine patch for a little while but finally got to have a sew with these charm packs of Cornucopia...........

Once I got my blocks done I was a little disappointed and I am not sure I want to cut them up now..........it is the plain and plaids of this range and they are not the normal cotton...........they are like a brushed cotton............not flannel but not right..............now not sure what to do...........some of the blocks were not cut right and now some of my corner joins are not right........

what do you think i should do............I have no other material that goes with this..........nothing feels like it..........what should I do .........HELP..........

I have a charm pack of the normal line and they are just beautiful............I was hoping to use them together but that is not going to happen..............

And yes I know I should be finishing things for May Britt and the WISP but I just wanted to start this and now I am not happy.............maybe my punishment for not finishing something I have already started...........lol.........

"s" day.........

Today was supposed to be "s" for sewing day not for sheep..........unfortunately for me we did not get all the job done so back we go again this morning.........hopefully we should be finished by lunch..........

Here are some photos from yesterday at the sheep yards........

Sorry the photos are not so good but I took them with my mobile phone........see the black sheep it has grown heaps.........

this one below - top left the mumma's are standing under the tree in the distance............don't worry not many came back to find them...........they are happy to be rid of them............

It was good in the morning as there were clouds and a nice breeze but after lunch I was in the hot sun and it was no fun and it was starting to get dusty.............yuck.........

we were weaning the sheep which means taking the ewe mums from the lambs (babies)...........the lambs also needed a ear mark (to identify them as ours) and tag.........(we are not allowed to sell them without a tag in their ear) we will leave the lambs in the yards and feed them for a few days.......

Here is a photo of fairy girl in her motor bike gear..........we did lots of this while the visitors were here.........motor bikes and the pool were the highlights..........she was so cute with her dress on under her motor bike gear..........the kids mad a crusty demons track..........they did thousands of laps around........you try keeping up with 4 motorbikes...........I left it to the dads...........

SSCS - I will post as soon as the last few presents turn up.........couple of girls still waiting to receive..........presuming held up in customs............well that is what I hope...........and if you want to see what most have received go back a few posts and I have 10 posts so far with pics of presents............

more skirt sewing............

Here is a skirt I found I had sort of started for someone - who knows who - it was a while ago and I know it was not for me......check out that waist.............one of my visitors was the lucky receiver of this skirt..........

another Xmas present finished.......this is for another of my nieces - another house on the hill twirly skirt this one I put a ruffled trim on the bottom and used ribbon for the tie........

is has been so nice to have Tutti Frutti visiting with some others...........and we have got to try out her ruffler foot for her new machine.........I have GOT to get one of those - so quick and easy............we have got some good sewing done.........tutti frutti has made 2 dresses and one skirt and decorated a couple of singlets...........so nice to have someone to sew with .........

here is the rocky road I made............not much left now - so quick and easy to make and everyone loves it..........

and as I was doing a little check in blogland this morning I went from this blog in sweltering heat to this one with snow pic............so weird........but that is the international part I love.............catch you all later.............

Happy New Year........

Made this skirt for a niece..........might applique something to the singlet will see what happens............

Happy New Year...............here is some of the food we gorged on last night..............OMG we had so much food............some salads, sweet chilli prawns, salt and pepper squid, fish peices, chicken kebabs and the list goes on...........then topped it off with rocky road when we couldn't fit anything else in..........what a beautiful night just had to share it with the mozzies..........the music up loud (I have no neighbours to annoy)

I have found this new blog..............Christine started her blog on the 28th............you should see how much she has posted so far and some fantastic stuff.........

-----take care and look forward to catching up with you in 2008-------
