I so love that tree! How did I miss this post? I am not, and never have been, in the in crowd. My daughter complimented me the other day by saying that I was the most un-conforming person she knew. So I guess that is why I don't ever want to have to do a meme. I just wouldn't. I am here for the craft and the scenery AND the tutorials. Praise is great and I get it and give it via comments but a passed down award would not mean anything to me except that they had noticed that I didn't have it. Am I cynical? I hope not. I just love blogs because they inspire me. Sorry for my ranting! Thanks Cherrie

i read jodie's post...i struggle between wanting to respond (feels polite), not having time to respond, and not wanting others to feel not included. i try to blog without obligation...yet i feel obliged.

It can be a bit tricky!!Much easier to go and play with sequin balls like RicRac's cat!

I remember this conversation last time we had it! I think that if you want to compliment a blogger, post a sincere, thoughtful comment! We all love that, which kind of makes it the best award ever!!! To feel obliged takes all the joy out of it.

I went over and read Ric Rac's post. It's a bit of an awkward situation I think. You feel flattered people like your blog and don't want to offend anyone but you struggle with what to do. I now say thank you and move on.

I was raised in a family that "didn't want to bother anyone", I didn't send out high school announcements and I got married by a Justice of the Peace, so no wedding or announcements etc. I find it a little flattering, but also a little uncomfortable due to my upbringing. I don't mind the participating, but am uncomfortable with the nominating. I like your way of "consider yourself tagged", and let the people decide. I think the people who start them are just trying to have fun, and make blogging more fun, but it's my upbringing problem again.

I agree with the both of you. I hate the whole choosing thing... wasn't good about in school, hated feeling left out, and felt bad for those left out!

After much thinking when you discussed this last time on your blog I decided to accept awards but I don´t pass them on or put them on the sidebar of my blog.

Totally agree. Blogging is for you alone, & should be fun. I wouldnt read my bloglist if I was not interested. Plus the lunchbox thing....

Love blogland and I visit the blogs that I find interesting/insirational/motivational/have nice photos and are just plain FUN? In my little blog world, they are all diamonds and everyone should get an award every single day, (especially those who run things like sscs). Imagine the sidebars, full of glittering awards piccies.....
I'm very grateful to everyone who visits and leaves comments but I don't tag or give awards. Why? Time is precious and I'd rather leave a nice comment. It always makes me smile when there are comments to read.

I really don't even pay attention to the tags on other blogs. I wouldn't know how to award or receive one. I'm more interested in the lives and quilts of different people.
