There is never a dull moment here on the farm and today as school holidays started we were pulling down an old fence so we can put up a new one...........hopefully finished during the holidays.........as usual I took the camera with me............
we came home and had lunch and went back and I saw this behind one of the posts.........initially I thought it was a blue tongue lizard........I was trying to find his head.............then I realised there was a LOT more.............this was not a lizard..............
it was a snake and a big one.............6ft long............think it is a carpet python.........NOT dangerous............but for me a snake is a snake and he was right in my road.....
........mind you someone forgot to tell him it is WINTER.............he was basking in the sun trying to warm up.....he was VERY SLOW....
...there is a collage here but if you want more pics head here I posted lots of pics...........we were up close with this fellow but I did use my zoom lens too...........but Mr Chookyblue moved him away to another tree.............both the kids touched it...........
then to keep everyone happy (me and the kids) this afternoon we lit a fire to finish off the day.........bonfires are always a hit.........
I am getting very stiff sitting here (lots of cutting wires with bolt cutters and pulling netting out of grass) and I'm busted so off to bed for me...........more fencing tomorrow unless plans change..........who knows here....
Take care til next time................Chookyblue........

Great photos! Nasty snake.....
Growing up in the desert snakes were common. I so dislike snakes. The sound of a rattler gives me the creeps.
Wonderful pictures - I enjoy your farm related posts so much - really look forward to them. Also I'm glad someone other than myself shows snakes on their quilting blogs! For as much as they frighten me - I find them so fascinating.
You could share the cool weather but I don't need the snake.
Thanks for sharing, as you know I love to see your pictures.
I don't mind snakes too much if I know they're not dangerous; not that I want one for a pet or anything! A little unsettling to come upon a huge one like that though.
Bonfires always makes me think of toasting marshmallows! Yum!
No more snake stories during Winter PLEASE!
What a beautiful snake!! I'm sure not fun to find it intially... but a beautiful one!! Hope the fencing is going okay and you're having a good start to the holidays.
This looks like a lot of work, but underneath i kan read to you like especially the end with bonfire.
I do not like sneaks either....
Mmmm think I would of wanted the snake to be in the bonfire!!!
Glad it wasn't a dangerous one! Even the snakes have the seasons stuffed up! Good luck with the fencing and enjoy the school holidays-hope you get some time to play
I have chills looking at that snake!! The joys of what the warmer months bring...snakes!!! yuk!!!
Have a wonderful school holiday. Hope you dont see to many more of your slithery friends.
WOW that was quite a snake and a cool fire!!!
Great pics!!! I HATE snakes... Very brave of those little hands to touch it in the pics on Snappy friends, much braver than me... I'd of run a mile... LOL!!!
Jodie :)
We just have little garter snakes here on Vancouver Island (Canada)and I do not like them!!! I can't comprehend what it would be like to have a six foot snake slither across my lawn.....YIKES! Makes quilting seem even better....INSIDE and no snakes!!!
Who doesn't love a good bonfire to poke at but I wouldn't be going near the snake.
The pictures are really awesome!! Keep on posting them. Love the live you depict, but leave out the snake photos :) I'm not especially fond of snakes
Love the pics...thanks for sharing your day...I hate snakes too!
A good snake is a dead snake....Did we have marshmellows for the bonfire.
Andrea
Nope sorry it's a snake and there is no way I would be getting close to it even with the Zoom on the camera. Nice to see you had such a good day though and got lots done. As always awesome photos - even the snake ones...vbg.
Glad your large visitor wasn't poisonous. There is a news story on TV this morning about pythons being out of control here in Florida, there are going to be python hunters. It's ok with me. They aren't native but people have them for pets. Recently a 2 year old child in a nearby city was killed by a pet python. Very sad.
This city girl would have run the other way if she had seen that snake LOL
My Goodness another snake.....
this one is a lot bigger (
do they understand go away)
I think I would faint......me city girl...wanting to be a farm gal
As much as I Sooo... do not like them...that is one helluva snake...
