Chookshed party Saturday lunch update............

machines down.........it's lunch time............

there's another table of machines too.........the chookshed is humming...........

we had a delicious spicy pumpkin soup and home made bread........

some of the quilts in progress...........

the fridge even fuller with champs.............we popped one for lunch...........

I will catch up with all your blogs later but i'm a bit busy at the minute.......and not a drop of rain in sight..

so much for the weather forecast.........It's a glorious summers day........

Sorry no pics yet-  I was busy........the sleep over girls arrive safe and sound last night just after I got the balloons and streamers up to decorate the shed........a couple of neighbouring stitchers called in and 6 of us enjoyed Salsa Chicken from the slow cooker (recipe here) I have new pics to add to that post as the others disappeared...........one of the girls brought bread and butter pudding and stewed rhubarb....yummo

 

Oh course we popped a bubbles or 2 and chattered lots.........we didn't make it to the sewing as it was a little late by the time they all arrived and we had eaten dinner...........

There are so many of you joining in the fun THANKS..............I can't believe you were all free to party..........good timing I think for a quieter weekend..........make sure you check out some of the girls who are joining in and its not to late to join us.........

planning............

Oh I love planning things sometimes..............recently my "partner in crime" aka Kylie from Indigo and Quince checked out a venue which we are going to have a retreat at........

For those in the know it is going to be perfect.....well thats what we think............I should be sending you all an email in the next few days hopefully..........

So I love planning things like this.............my MIL would not agree when it comes to other things like Chirtsmas lunch.........when months out I am not organised with a menu and who is coming, what I want her to bring etc......she is the queen of lists......I think I drive her nuts......but I know it will happen and I usualy have the same sort of things so not many changes needed........but I do like organising things like crafty gatherings/retreats etc........get the bones of it done and work on the details closer to the time..........

Are you a planner or do you like someone else to do all that???

Do you like crafty weekends to be inexpensive or very indulgent???

Asking lots of questions lately aren't I........Oh well someone has to annoy you.......today it's me.....lol

how you going with the chooksheds birthday party preps?????

most importantly we need celebratory drinks.......yep chilling in the fridge already........

and before you say it no I am NOT going to drink all that myself.....lol.....

still a little sorting to do clearing the benches so there is room for everyone..............

but I am packing away properly so it is taking more time............

I need to pull out my projects and check where I am up to so I am organised for the weekend........

hard faced bitch????

do you think I am a "hard faced bitch"????

was recently chatting to a friend..........I won't be revealing who but I said to her you need to relax-don't stress......don't worry so much about others........as in taking their worries on board with yours.......or worry what the effects of there situation/issue/mood may be on you.......

then she said I need to be a "hard faced bitch like you"..........we were laughing so I know she is not SERIOUS or being mean.....

I do listen to friends and keep check they are going ok if things are not so good but I don't think I take those worries on board as I have my own family worries/challenges to deal with.........

so the question of the day is.............

do you take on everyones elses worries and stresses (other friends, aquaintances, extended family etc)

OR

are you a hard faced bitch????

EclectChic - renovating and decorating an old farm house.........she loves design.........sadly the drought has hit their farm hard and her blog posts are in drought at the moment but I know she will return........ 

Elm Grove Patchwork - Lenora is a dairy farmer and runs a patchwork shop on the Great Ocean Road, an amazing part of Australia....one day I will get there to explore this area........
Englating - I've known Marica in Sweden for many years............a regular in the SSCS.......she makes lovely projects...........glimspses of Sweden too................

no place like home...........

wow what a week.............lots of reasons to be away all linked up together meant I have been away for a week and it is so nice to be home.....theres no place like home..........just a mountain of washing to catch up on now..........

Glorious day (rainy would be better) here.......perfect to dry all the washing...........

some bookwork and preparations for the sewing party........

a little tidying and reorganising in the chookshed needed...

there's about 50 of us virtually at the moment....and quite a few in real life...

Wow so pleased you are all excited about the sewing party for the "Chookshed"...........there's going to be lots of us........

get your projects prepared over the next few weeks and prepare to sew up a storm..................

so far we have girls from all over Australia, New Zealand, USA, Norway, Iceland......

it's not to late to join in.....just clear the weekend 31st May 1st June...........just tell the family you are busy and they have to feed themselves......DO NOT DISTURB!!!!

AND very exciting i have some sewing buddies joining me in real life too...........

I know a few of you are away on retreats anyway and a few of you are going to get some buddies together to sew with and some of you will just be sewing on your own.........it doesn't matter how you do it so long as we are sewing together that weekend...........even just a day..........

The sky I took a few weeks ago and forgot to share with you..............I love cloud watching..........

I got to spend the day with my babies........

not that they are babies anymore but I still call them my babies.....

1st June is the "Chooksheds" 2nd birthday.....as it's something I thought I would never ever manage to get I am so lucky to have it........we need to celebrate the occasion...........

I think a sewing weekend is in order....31st May/1st June.....

"chook lit".........

"Chook lit" or rural/romance genre............this article I found describes it better..........I love this genre of books anyway and haven't read any books for ages...........the Australian market for it is booming......

well I should not have started this book because when I did I could not put it down.........I loved the story.............was quick and easy to read...........I missed meeting her in her book tour by one day..........I could not stay and meet her which was a bit disappointing......Fleur blogs too you can find her here.....

when i first started reading her blog I didn't realise she was an author.......

She has published 4 books previously so I may have to hunt them down to read.....has anyone read any of her other books

Fleur does occassional posts about others in the same genre too and the other day she posted about Therese Creed and her new book "Charlotte's Creek" so when i found it out shopping I picked it up.........This is Therese 2nd book......hopefully back soon with a report on that............it's on the reading list for next week..........I am not starting today as once I do get into the book I can't put it down..............

Have you read any rural chick lit/chook lit lately???? I love Rachel Treasures books too........have some of those on Audio from the library......

death of an ipod/music question............

This ipod is attached to "Boy Wonder" just about 24/7................

I am sure it has been places most ipods would never go.........

they are definitely dust proof too............

music is beaming from it hours each day...........and most nights.............

It's been thru a screen already and "Boy Wonder" cracked it last year but had been managing with it since then..........last night the LCD covered the screen......then we saw that a chip of the cracked glass had fallen out too......you can see the time just in the top corner and that is it...........

I managed to save the photos........games and music are no issue..........game scores may be gone......

So has "Boy Wonder" saved enough money to buy a new one????

ALSO music question.....

If you have heard of Luke Bryan and like his music do you have any other suggestions like him.......

I like his music BUT I know the words off by heart of 2 of his albums.......

Happy Birthday Fibre Junction.............

One of my special friends in the USA is Carole - Quilting Adventures...........we have been blog friends I think from the very beginning.......she started blogging just before me and i think we have been friends for all or almost all that time from way back in 2007.........anyway 5 years ago she opened a shop.........it's called the Fibre Junction........I can't believe it is 5 years but she is having a party to celebrate...........

I wished I could call in and visit.........one day maybe..........head over to her blog - Quilting Adventures and wish the shop happy birthday............

I'm posting this about 4pm Thursday Australian time and she is/should be sound asleep as I think it is 2am so it would be nice surprise for her to wake to some birthday wishes.................

Day Day's Blog - One of my very special blog friends.......Dale is a prolific quilter and very generous with donations for causes with her quilts.....She turned over a new leaf at GDITC this year and hopefully we will see her posting more this year.........She makes lots of different quilts and machine quilts them herself.......an Aussie I usually get to catch up with several times a year...........
De Zondagssteek - writes in Dutch from the Netherlands.........love the colours she works with............met her thru a christmas swap.............

Designs by Fee - you never know what Fiona is designing but it's always something pretty and soft...........another Aussie

Dilly Dimple - a crazy blogger by the name of Josie from Scotland.............always have a great lol when I read her posts.............one day I hope to meet her............it will be a fun time for sure..........

Dragonfly Sewing Another long time blogger...........she's been in every SSCS Secret Santa Christmas Swap........actually she was one of the first 3..............I emailed Fiona and another friend and said what do you think..........atleast we have 3 of us to swap around...............wow if I had only known what was to come of this..........we get to catch up a few times a year too since she is another Aussie blogger................

Dutch Comfort - Nicolette from Netherlands.........I have followed her blog for years......she did a quilt for breast cancer many years ago and I nominated a lady I know who was going thru breast cancer at the time and she won the quilt.............it was an honour to deliver this quilt to the recipient that Nicolette had made..........many ladies around the globe had a say in what she put into the quilt with Nicolette using her graphic design skills to create the quilt........so very special.........and the good news is the lady who had the cancer is alive and well.......

Dutch Sisters - sisters Heleen and Corry who do lots of gorgeous craft and live in the Netherlands
