We've had a busy evening last night sewing til about 8.30 before heading in for dinner.............everyone is doing really well..........more pics later and I have been trying to get around some blogs....you have been doing lots of posts and we still have people commenting who are joining in so keep checking the comments to see whos joining in the fun.................
just wondering if you could help with something please...............I don't usually post private family matters but some of you know this already...........my sister asked if I would post this.......
She has pancreatic cancer and the drugs she is on are not covered by the PBS (medicine subsidy scheme in Australia). She has been having chemo (3 weeks on 1 week off) for over 2 years now......one of the good drugs she is using and is really helping her is ABRAXANE................
It has been a great benefit to her............the first 8 weeks costs her about $10,000...................
If you have breast cancer you can have it at a low cost on the PBS but if you have pancreatic cancer you can't...........
There is a petition to take to the Government to get this drug available on the PBS for Pancreatic cancer patients too or any other cancer it may help not just one type.......
Can you please spread the word on you emails, facebook etc and sign the petition..........
they need more signatures to take it to government.............
they need more signatures to take it to government.............
who knows you may be the next person to needs this drug or someone you love........
I found this article to read too...........

Just signed, happy to help as we have a friend with pancreatic cancer at present and my brother is post chemo for testicular cancer, six months. Nobody has the money to pay the real price of drugs over the course of their treatment. R and D is expensive - we need to subsidies these drugs for everyone.
Signed. That there is discrimination between types of cancer is appalling.
Oh this is just terrible to read... I cannot believe there is such a discrimination between types of cancers. I mean its bad enough coping with things then to find out this... just terrible. I believe that all cancer patients should receive free treatments and medications... thinking of individuals well-being its a disgrace they are not free... and free in ALL countries. I live in UK so I think the system is slightly different. I am more than happy to help so will gladly sign your petition and post awareness on my blog :)
Signed, my mum is in a similar position she was on a trial drug which helped put her into remission, her best chance to stay that way is on a maintenance dose but now that it's approved you can only get if the disease is progressing and not if you've already been on it. She has it supplied from the company on compassionate grounds but it took a lot of phone calls letters etc from doctors, professors and family but we were lucky and the company is understanding.
of course I will sign it.... hugz to all..

Signed and shared petition on facebook. It's shameful the difference in costs, it shouldn't discriminate between cancers.

What a ridiculous situation…this is discrimination, cancer is cancer and if this medication helps what does it matter which part of the body is affected…idiot bureaucrats! Will be signing...
Me Myself and I did manage to sew for your party...hope you get to stop by and see my mug rug. I am sure you are all having a great time.

Just signed - prayers for your sister.
Done and thank you for highlighting this injustice to us. Wish your sister and your family all the very best as you battle through this journey.
I'm in the U.S., so I don't think my signature will do you any good. I will, however, prayer that reform takes place and that God rests His healing hand on your sister.
Wishing you all the best.
I have signed, let's hope people power works to get some very important changes happening. Thanks for visiting my blog as part of your Sewing Party, it's wonderful you are visiting everybody who signed up. Hope your weekend party was wonderful.
Signed - what a ridiculous situation, cancer is cancer and there should be no discrimination. Best wishes to your sister and family, serious illness is hard on everyone. Your party looks like such good fun, Chooky, sorry, but I ended up not celebrating or sewing as I was sick at the weekend and my mojo has gone missing...
Just signed. Wishing your sister all the best.
I have shared it on my blog and off to sign it now! How typically stupid of our government - cancers might be in different places but they wreak the same havoc no matter where they are.
Signed and shared on fb
Yes, I've signed - hope they accept the 'non Australian signature. Best wishes to your sister and family.
