Horse Paddock Dam...........
TA DA.......last week the dam filled in a storm............
so just to remind you........
before it got dug out in December............
This is what it looks like now...............and the water to the left goes up another couple hundred metres into a natural wetland getting narrower as it goes.............
Last week we got 57mls of rain in one day..............
our neighbour where this water runs from got 80mls............
Last week we got 57mls of rain in one day..............
our neighbour where this water runs from got 80mls............
Lets hope it looks like this for some time to come.............nice and full and because the dirt got dumped in a gap it made a new wall on one part so we can actually hold another couple of foot of water.............the tree you can see just off centre in the water is normally out of the water.............
still got one more dam to fill but the storm did fill a few more too.........and topped up my house dam which is wonderful..............
Catch you later

What a lovely sight to see all that water, Chooky.
Now thats a pretty sight for you
YEAH! Rain! Keep it coming and fill all those dams!
Hooray for rain! A dam or lake full of water is such a satisfying sight, especially when you are relying on it. Ballarat was so drought-stricken about 6 years ago that we were on very heavy water restrictions and Lake Wendouree near our place - 6 k around and so picturesque - was so dry you could (and we did) walk across it. Lovely to chat last night, Chooky - thank you!
So pleased to see some area receive rain for the first time in such a long time. I love when I am travelling and see what were empty dams the last time I travelled through full to the top - a nice feeling to know someone has had life changing rain!! One of the best scenes for a farmer would be to see their damns filling up!
Such good news to here that you got some rain. Usually its all coastal.
a wonderful sight!
Oh wow! Full dams are the best!!! xxx

Oh how wonderful; it looks almost like a lake now ;)! I do hope the rains keeps coming.
Wooo Hooo! Celebration time!
Just as I'd hoped. How lovely!
It amazes me just how quickly things change is this country of ours. We are very fortunate that the ground responds the way it does. But it's heart breaking to watch it dry out. Love the sound of rain on the roof.
What a happy sight. Looking pretty green here.
Great news! :o)
How wonderful.... At last some water, great news and such a big dam filled, just great
How wonderful...worth all the expense of getting the digger in and making it larger...how fantastic to see all that water!
Good new . Great to see rain.
Yay! Always good to see a dam with water...hope you get some more to keep it topped up...
Dear Chooky,
this sounds and looks great. Everything is bigger in Australia.
Greetings,
Sylvia
Thats "bloody terrific". Am I aloud to say that on the blog... oh well just did....No wonder you said check the blog. That could have been worth a phone call.
Congratulations I am pleased for you. I used to live on 25 acres north west of Sydney and it was hot hot hot and dry, a bit of a battle to keep the garden green and we weren't trying to make a living out of it. We moved to the southern highlands for the cool. We've had a lot of nuisance rain, sad to say that but it just muzzles all the time, holding up garden construction and not much use really. Before Christmas we had enormous amounts of rain, after a very dry year, the weather is weird. However I am glad you got a nice dump of rain and started filling your dams.
thats a wonderful sight...
