chilly, eggs......

I know for some of you this is nothing frost wise but in my neck of the woods we had a huge frost yesterday morning...........like I said huge for us...........we only get a few frost each year..........this week we have had frost after frost and some very chilly nights................
little crystals of ice........

I stopped at a stock grid and took some pics too.........it is so "cool"
and this is where a vehicle has driven over before me and pushed some of the ice off the edge....
frost on a wheat paddock...........
and with some sad news............there are no more blue eggs here..............the last of my chooks that lays the blue eggs died..........I would love to get some more so will have to see if I can find out where to get some.........the guy who I got these ones from doesn't have chooks anymore........
no more blue egss is a bit sad :(
Have a fantastic weekend...........I have some special sewing planned for tomorrow...........
Catch you later..............

Brrrrr, photos are fabulous, but made me feel so cold! We've only had a couple of frosts - that I have seen!! - this winter. Hope you can find some more chook-i-blues!!! Happy sewing!

No frost like that in Brisbane even though it was a "cold" 5degrees this morning - or maybe I am not up early enough! Shame about the blue eggs.

I'd give anything to only have a few frosts in the winter instead of a few feet of snow! But I don't think I'd like the heat you get in the summer. I hope you find more blue egg laying chooks! :0)

You're game going out when there's still ice on the ground. I prefer to rug up inside out of the elements.

Oh....... I'm BACK!

So sorry to read about your chook! I don't know about you, but I get attached to mine! I guess they are more of a pet for us. My friend Cheryl from Ararat has been keeping me posted on the "cold" weather you have been getting. Here it's bloody hot! lol But, I cannot complain, the temps are no where near what others have been experiencing! Hugs!

Looks really cold down there. We have had a few cold mornings here too, but no frosts like that. No more blue eggs, what a shame.

Wow -- such a different season there. We are having temps around 35.5C here (mid 90's F) A frost would feel good to me. I like the long strap-like leaves with the frost -- looked like lace!

That sure is a big frost for up your way. Let's hope it warms up a bit soon. My brother had a couple of chooks that laid blue eggs. I hadn't seen them before. I don't know if he still has any or where he got them from.

A man in our church used to give his friends eggs -- the first time we got some we had both blue eggs and green ones, along with the more common brown and white. One day he mentioned his ducks and my hubby said that he didn't think we had ever eaten duck eggs. Our friend laughed and said if we had eaten his eggs we had eaten duck eggs as he would mix them right in with the hen eggs.
Unfortunately, our friend is no longer with us. I wonder if he is raising chickens and ducks in heaven? What colors would heavenly eggs come in?

Chooky, I just read "Sophie The Incredible True Story of the Castaway Dog." It was written by Emma Pearse, from Australia, and is a true story about a family and their dog from Mackay, Queensland, Australia. Have you ever read this? A really good book!
