Here is a pic from my trip to Jodie it is a cactus flower - I have made it into a card also...........Yes this will be for Fairy Girl too.........when I was sorting out my sewing........(stop laughing Carey) I found some material from Fairy Girl's Princess Mary quilt that I made for her a few years ago...........so it will go well with her room...........
just enough to frame this stitchery and very scrappy pieced back...............
No no the shopping isn't the secret............I am just slack and hadn't gotten around to showing you what i got while away............what else to buy on a road trip but Leanne's "Romancing the Road Trip"
Just happened upon a quilt shop open on a Sunday afternoon..............jammed on the brakes, pulled over and reversed back up the road...........well worth the stop........I don't have much in creams so got a few......
Now shhhhhhhhhhh don't tell Fairy Girl but she has a birthday coming up this week and since she has slept with Mr Red Rabbit since last week I thought maybe I should make her a special friend.........gosh i don't know how you girls make softies all the time..........so dam fiddly and I had to sew the crutch together again once finished..........so don't look to closely..............but I am sure Fairy Girl will love it............
Take care till next time...............
After a few emails back and forwards with Jodie (one of three I regularly visit - so much confusion with that name) she said she still had her sample stitching from about 11 or 12yrs old I think and she still had her sewing box and her quick un pick......
.....so that lead me to showing you my first sewing box.......a cute little pink number........I still LOVE this little basket............
(there's another post of what I found in it.............it is only small but I found about 4 WISP's.............mainly embroidery and cross stitch)
then when I started sewing in High School I "had to have" this yellow sewing box as this is what all the other girls had............oh the pressure...........
Over the weekend I had a neighbour over to visit we were talking about a outfit I though I had and went in search of it.............hmmmmmmm not luck finding the outfit and I knew where it should have been so I must have thrown it out but what I did find was some old craft I have not seen for years .................forgive the quality but I think most of it was done in primary school................
Mr Rabbit is currently sleeping with fairy girl.............I think it was a project to pass a badge in Brownies or Guides............
Not sure where I made this foul orange bag but look at the blanket stitch..........pretty wild but I was just young............lol..........by the time you get to the next letter you can't see it is almost reverse blanket stitch.........lol......
Mushroom wall hanging............
such neat even stitches...................NOT.........lol
Even had a go at Hobby Text (is that what it was called) I know my mum had it but this was done in Guides..............I was in the Rosellas group...............we also had Lyrebirds........
Loved Smurfs at the time............also think we traced these pics as I am not a good drawer..........
These yellow ones were completed in Yr 3 or 4 at school so i was 9 or 10 years old......this yellow material must have been cheap..............hand stitching
My first needlekeeper completely hand sewn...............thankgoodness my sewing skills have improved since then...........I think I choose the red and purple as our stitches had to "show up" and we had to decorate it with stitches........
machine stitching here............same yellow see what I mean we did have a lot of it............
the cover of my needle work sampler.........
various hand stitches.............
and a few more fancy ones.............
finally I remember doing this with the Nun's..............this Nun was particularly strict ..........we pulled the threads out first and then stitched through........such neat knots on the back...........I was definitely in Yr 3 or 4 so i am very proud of the neatness of my stitching.............
Take a look around and see what you can see along the roads..........
