Okay the egg is not rotten or alien...............it is from this chooky - an araucana (well that's what they tell me)..............and it looks just like the rest when you crack it open....................I have only had them for about a month...........
today I got the Chinese Silkies my brother picked up for me a few weeks ago.............Fairy girl owns the white one, Bookworm got the grey one and I got the black one.............they are like little balls of fluff...........only about 10 weeks old so a while before i get some eggs from them.............
and here is my plain jane black hen..............Australorp

Your egg is interesting, and your chickens are beautiful (who'd have thought chickens could be beautiful) I have never seen any like the Chinese Silkies. Even Australorp is beautiful and can hold up her head. Martha Stewart would be envious.
Hi.You have some great Chickens. They are so luckey beein g able to walk out in the grass. ;-)
I'm loving the silkies! They are great!! There are so many gorgeous types of chooks!! Do they all lay different coloured eggs!?! ;)
I would love some chickens however there are 2 jack russells who have a different opinion. Very cute silkies.
What sweet looking chooks! I didn't realise that the egg shell colour would vary so much depending on the breed. Lucky you for having so many free range eggs on hand!
One of my brothers always reckoned that Chinese Silkies looked like Upside Down Mops - But then he's a bit of a worry... Luv that Blue Egg Chookyblue - worthy of a Newsflash indeed!
I love the black chook. I would like one like that. One of my students has chooks that lay those blue eggs. She brought one it to me one day. It's amazing isn't it.
You need to go and visit my friend Natalie over at
www.chickenblog.com You both love chooks!
They are so pretty, and I buy embroidery designs for the machine of them.........but I am very happy for you to have them there and for me not to have them here.
My Mother would drag me through the chook pavilion at the Royal Melbourne Show on a regular basis.....and since my Dad was a consultant while the show was on...we went almost every day.
So I have a chook phobia.........I did have bantams as a kid, but even then I think I was terrified they would fly at me.
Congrats on the eggs though.
Silkies are my absolute favourite chickens - their pompom topknots and funny little furry feet are so sweet - my late partner used to keep them and they make excellent broody hens for hatching out other birds eggs - thanks for taking me right back 20 years!
I miss having chickens...I always wanted silkies! I had Rhode Island Reds and a few aracana's (mine layed light green eggs) and banties. Love the pictures!
Those chookies are knitted from mohair-wool!
I’ve never seen anything like that! Wonderful.
I will bet the eggs you have taste wonderful.
Love free range eggs.
thanks for the lesson in chooks! I learn so much from your blog!
My DH would love all those girls...nice chooks...Chookyblue!!!

Great chooks. The fluffy ones look so cute. I love the different colour eggs in the last post. Here's hoping you get lots more :-)
They are so cool Donna!!!! Love the little fur balls. LOL!!
Love the Silkies, DD and I recently watched a doco on saving rare chicken breeds, did you see it? I really enjoyed it. I would love to have chickens, but even here in the city we have problem with foxes. (A neighbour lost 2 ducks a while back.) And we have dogs and I don't know how that would like the chickens, one would like to eat them I am sure. LOL.
I love your chooks!

The fluffy chooks look very cute, I wonder how their eggs will be, maybe they will also be eggciting?
