EDIT Thanks to Jude and Pat I names this one Mobstar as per there suggestion.........mob of sheep and the start pattern.
9/9 bindings this one was finished weeks ago but I had to try and get pics..........
I started this quilt back in 2017 and it was the first quilt that Kris @ Tag Along Teddies kicked my butt on that started the crazy Christmas sewing blitz of 2017
"So what do I think of this quilt?????"
"Hang on let me have a look......."
"I need a really close look..........checking out the seams and quilting........."
Well as I took photos in the woolshed last time I mentioned mustering and Carole @ From my Carolina Home asked me "what is mustering".........
Mustering is when you go out in the paddocks/fields/pasture and check all paddock and find the stock be that cows or sheep in that paddock and muster them ie bring them back to the holding yards to do work with them mostly.........or move them to another paddock......
You can do this by vehicle, motorbike, horse and sometimes dogs with you..........we use bikes and dogs sometimes depending on the job........
We have 4 wheel motor bikes........its a bit slower then usual at present as the grass is so long and dangerous as you don't see logs, holes and stumps etc but it is a good problem with all the grass.........we have feed..........
I took some pics first on the gate and tree and then had to wait for Mr Chooky to be the quilt holder............yes he thinks I am nuts having pics taken in mobs of sheep but hey........I met the stock challenge for Rose Marie........not cows but at least sheep.........it's far to wet to get to the cows.........
Golden hour was in full swing the other afternoon and the colours were amazing and I just loved mustering..........this afternoon I was moving them from one paddock to another to be closer to the yards for the next day.........
the grass heads were catching the light..........the temperature was pretty nice for autumn..........
If you look close in this pic the sheep are winding like a big long snake almost to the top left of the grass in this photo...........the grass is long and they just were following each other as when the others went thru they knocked the grass down a bit........
Trying to be artistic I threw it over a tree branch............
This is my second quilt using grey.........
3rd Moda Love Quilt between Fairy Girl and myself..........
The gate was useful............and look at that stunning custom quilting by Jude............gorgeous custom quilting......
These sheep were penned up to be drafted where we sorted them out between ewes and big lambs that had got mixed up.........Last week we shore all the lambs..........next week hopefully we will be shearing the ewes.......weather has not been with us shearing wise.........sheep need to be dry to shear...........
So now I need your help..............
this quilt needs a name.......I did get one but it doesn't suit..........
Name ?????HELP

Love it....the bright yellow stripe is a great contrast to the quieter colours, a real lemon zinger! A freezy frosty chilly morning here too, I'm glad we're not still in our caravan on the hill in Canberra today, much as I would like to have been there for the craft show and quilt show this weekend.
Oh, my goodness, this was a fun post. Kudos to Mr. Chooky for being a good sport about being a quilt holder in the midst of a bunch of penned in novice quilt inspectors.
Love the golden hour shots of mustering!
Another great quilt finish--but I am no help with a name.
Beautiful quilt. Your golden hour photo is spectacular. Love seeing your sheep. Hugs,
Love the quilt and the quilting and the sheep shots..... well done Mr Chooky for holding.
I am going with Andromeda for a name..... I know nothing about astronomy but it looked like a star and there is a galaxy called Andromeda that has a blueshift so Mr Google informs me...
Hugz
I'm horrible with names but it's a beautiful quilt! :0)
That's a beautiful quilt Chooky, Jude did an amazing job. And so did Mr Chooky. LOL
Why not call it The Mustering Star?
Lovely soft colours, it kind of reminds me of our early morning skies here on the prairies of Canada.
God bless.
Hope the heater is enough and you will have a lovely time in your shed. Here it is still Spring, but also much too cold for this time a year. LOVE the quilt you made. The big one block as a quilt is a great idear. And your pfotos are doing it just right. What an amazing country you live in. It hits me as you said the grass was a good problem. It remenbered me of the hard time some years ago. How good to see all the long grass now. Enjoy your day.
Such beautiful photos! And the quilt is wonderful - love the colours.
Love your posts with all the great quilts and all the sheepies and beautiful sunrise or sunset pics!! Thanks for stopping by my blog and adding me to your SAL list!! Quilting, Australia and sheep, how can one ever gone wrong? :-)
Your photos are amazing! Love to see all those sheep! A name... Sheep Depot Star quilt????
I am with the sheep .. loving the quilt x The name should include the sheep ... somehow! lol x Not very helpful x
really pretty chooky...and what a fan club! lovely sunset photos, so much better than the drought ones...
I just love the bit of yellow in the quilt and the binding, it is gorgeous. That sheep quilt inspector I love.
Pat suggests Starlight, prob needs a name relating to sheep, Mobstar? Jumbuck Star? We give up now, by the way, love the photography, and of course the quilt!!
Another beautiful finish and Mr Chooky did a great job holding it up for your photos amongst the sheep.
So many gorgeous photos.
Sorry no ideas for a name 🤔
Reminds me a bit of a crystal with all the facets. Chrys “teal” came to mind. Or Christeal. That sunset photo is absolutely gorgeous. Since it took five years Penteal. Ewe will come up with something appropriate. Beautiful quilt. Just starting summer in Connecticut. Dotti in CT
Beautiful quilt, quilting and photos Chooky. I love the idea of putting a word or two in the name relating to mustering and sheep lol
Maybe I should take my quilts outside and photograph with cows or trucks and diggers.
Hope you were warm in the Chookshed?
Oh, I'm loving this quilt and it just seems to go so well with the other photos all working so well together ...... for a name I'm leading towards Golden Muster - a combination of the sheep taking such interest and with that most awesome photo of the Golden glow, grass and sheep heading in the direction of the points on your quilt ......... but that's just me - I'm sure you will come up with something :)
It's a lovely quilt. Gorgeous colours.
Really stunning pics. And that quilt....wow. So gorgeous, adore the colour scheme.
Great quilt finish - all that beautiful quilting! - and I love the pics especially the ones in the middle of the sheep. Oh and I love that sheep picture where they are coming in through the long grass, reminds me of one in my calendar a few years back of sheep trudging through deep snow in that same sort of shape. xx
This is such an effective quilt and Jude’s quilting is the perfect finishing touch. The colours remind me of the sun peeking through the clouds.
Love the quilt and all the photo shoot pics!! I'm no good at naming quilts, look forward to seeing what you decide :) xx
I love your quilt Chooky. The quilting is fabulous. Great photos with the sheep. My dumb suggestion for a name - Star shine Blue or Blue Star! Haha. So bad!
I love your photo with the sheep!! You are so creative.
The quilt is so beautiful! The colors are endearing.
Gorgeous quilt-the turquoise and yellow really pop against the gray! How about Shepards Star for a name?
Oh, I'm so glad that you met my challenge (well almost)..... those photos are wonderful! Mr. Chooky and the sheep helped you a lot! Lovely quilt and there are some nifty quilt names in the comments.
Beautiful quilt and the quilting is wonderful. Well done to My Chooky for being the quilt holder upper. Lots of wonderful photos.
WOW! That Christmas sewing-a-thon seems SOOOOOO long ago!! Fabulous to see this quilt finished ... well done. :0) I think I need to kick my own butt into gear to finish more projects. :0P Bear Hugs! KRIS xx
