zooming?????

OK I had good intentions of posting more while away but I was on overload already so that didn't happen.........I have several more posts to come you will just have to wait till I get them sorted out............

The site this I love...........its a sign of switching off...........its beautiful and green with all the rain.........

the grounds are always so peaceful.........

Got the room set up.........missing the flowers and a couple of quilts to hang up............

Now Jo the over achiever of the group.......on zoom I am always astounded how fast she gets stuff done............now I have seen it for my own eyes............she is unbelievable...........She's giving me tips today......too brain dead last night to learn something new..........

Di was working on this one before she got here clearly but now it's all together............

She's a wizz on the embroidery machine now...........

ok off for a coffee run and into sewing.....

2021 Scrub Stitchin' kits......

Just checking thru my blog and found some posts that I have not published............

Best get 2021 up before this year starts.......

This is the room set up last year...........

Not sure why it took several retreats to think of this..........

Sadly Miss Kate will not be with us thus year.........

She thinks moving house is morning important.........

The kits for 2021 were designed and put together by Sandy of Shiralee Stitches..........Sadly Sandy was not able to come and join us at the last minute..........

The kits had a red or blue option...........mine is the red option..........The EPP ring is finished but it is not a cushion yet............woops

We always have a lovely mug of some theme..........Last year these were gorgeous painted birds but they were an art work in themselves.......I don't have a closer pic...........and my Mum made us some scones for morning tea a couple of mornings............

My little car was packed to the rafters and she will be again........being the host there's more stuff you have to take and prepare for the retreat...........that's my excuse and I'll stick with it......Not the fact that I took enough projects with me to last a full month of sewing if not longer............you have to have options don't you........

Ok must go.......million things on the go here including filling the car again..........

Happy days.........

 Its the happiest day of the year.....end of daylight savings.........

It is so dark of a morning at the moment.......If we must have it, it should of finished end of February..........It's just so hard to get started of a morning.........

Having said that I am writing this post at 3.50am due to inability to sleep.........

The days sure are closing in and there has been a drop in the temps and the feeling of the change of season...........Its been a super mild summer...........

Thanks for all the comments on the "cotton" post..........I love that I have my little plant growing in the garden and a few more of the bolls have popped open.......

4  SLEEPS........OMG I am so excited..........I cannot wait to see the girls.........I need to wash the car and pack it up ASAP incase there is some rain and I need to be able to get out of here sooner........the dirt road is terrible and I noticed so many more potholes/ruts after this last rain this week which was not much.......its beyond normal maintenance repair now.......

Janice and I are going to make our twister quilts at Scrub Stitchin'..........we put it out to the girls if anyone else wanted to join us and there's a few more making some also...........can't wait to see what they all look like.............

I tried to join Rose Marie@Applique 'n Patch in her binding challenge with Mary.......I failed again but I did maybe get a foot done............it's progress but not enough.........I will get one done this month..........

cotton.......

Forever grateful for the humble cotton plant..........It creates so much joy for me.....its allowed me to make friendships......have this blog....create beautiful quilts.........so many things........

This is a cotton boll...........cotton plants in crops are much bigger then my little plant usually 1.2m............my little plant is only about 30cm high........but it is still alive into it's second year and bigger then it was last year........

Last year I got one cotton boll..........this year looks like I might get 6 all together..........

Its even survived a trim from "Bridget".......she was naughty and got into the garden........

And look what you can buy from cotton...........I did have a voucher from my birthday last year and got carried away at "The Home Patch" and brought a bundle..........

For now I just keep patting the fabrics..........but i'll decide on something soon hopefully........

Just thought I should pop in since it's been awhile........

Just busy with life like everyone else............Enjoying stunning sunsets driving home one day........

Checking out the cows and all the wonderful feed they have.........rolling fat......

We got a bit of rain last night that will freshen things up too......

I recently had a trip away for work with the floods.......

As all roads were closed into the area it was an adventurous trip to get there........

A plane flight over the mountains.........really they are so cool from the air..........

The coast the stop of our second leg of the trip...........

Then it was hours of waiting for a helicopter to take us the last of the trip.........the only transport available into the northern rivers area of extreme flooding..........

Please note this is a LONG was from my home...I was not affected at all..........

This photo is just after we flew over Grafton............

This area is just south of Lismore.............just so much water.............

thousands of houses flooded............some completely destroyed...........many unhabitable...........so much cleaning up and work to do..........

A week later I flew out and there is still so much water flooding the land...........

livestock drowned........businesses flooded and equipment destroyed............

This is Ballina the end of one of the rivers............the dirty water flooding out into the ocean.........so many towns and little communities flooded..........the water in Lismore was 2metres higher then ever recorded I think............thats a lot more water.............

I'll end with this gorgeous flower I found out on the farm the other day...........

it was veiled in fine grasses and looks so delicate...........

In super exciting news........

19 sleeps until Scrub Stitchin' retreat.....the countdown is on.............

Most girls will be there on the Wed now so its basically a day longer now......

I'm not complaining at all........more time to sew.......

zoom massacre end.......

Yes a dramatic blog title.......I will explain below.........what a wonderful day on zoom........

We rounded up 28 girls popping in and out from 7 countries.........

Eventually Lucy came out and played.........Chris and Lou were also working on Lucy

This morning I needed a massive clean of the Chookshed see below..........but I was looking at my table and wondering what does your space looks like........

computer screen, laptop, coffee, soda water, champagne glass, sewing gear and bin, treats, phone cord....notepad and bit of the project scattered around..........but everything in close reach......

Lucy still is in lots of pieces....she's scattered right around me when I look at this pic......

Love seeing everyone's progress during the day......all encouraging each other.......

Later in the night I went to turn the air con off and realised I had been invaded by earwigs......100's and 1000's i'm sure.....they were crawling everywhere up towards the aircon end of the Chookshed........

So out came the spray and drowned them and me and zoom finished.........:(

Now the problem this morning is cleaning up the massacre.......look in the pic close...........1/2 the shed floor looked like this......the other 1/2 not as bad.......had to go get the big vacumn to tackle this job.....

then cleaning the floor and room led to cleaning one set of sliding doors (thanks Denice where are you??????) I could not look at them any more after the window cleaning discussion in zoom........

But lets move onto Lucy's progress............above the section was only partly joined maybe 3-4 edges.......below I got that on and the filler in the right corner........

I have 4 on the left joined together prior to today which was a nice surprise as I had forgotten about it......just adding two fillers and it can get joined.......but I started working on joining the 4 on the right side........she's growing.......

As this post got disrupted during writing I have now cleaned (inside and out) all but the long window........That's two sets of sliding doors and a set of windows that big and then another more normal size window.........

Now I have been asked by a few people about joining zoom............do you need a blog???? 

Well as we can only see each other through our blogs that is how we have all connected.........

given the chatter yesterday we have been blogging for a long time........

hundreds of years if I added up just who was on yesterday.........

we had a lot of discussion about when we started blogging yesterday......

yes I do have a few friends who don't have blogs join but I know who they are and they have joined me on retreats and been in contact over a longer period of time..........

You can always start a blog.........it's very easy......one of the girls who wanted to join has been working on her new blog........

I don't do "the dark side" aka facebook and your very welcome to start your own zoom group but I do like to keep up with what you are doing between zoom sessions and that is by reading your blog and interactions thru comments......I hope you understand......

We've all been making new friends thru zoom/blogs as not everyone knew each's blogs......
