seriously.......

seriously sometimes you wonder why........ In the first few hours I ran out of bobbin 1/4 of the way down a long seam..... Sewed the border on the wrong side - in reverse stitching that I started reversing the wrong seam also..... Ran out of bobbin again.......Put a nick in the quilt cutting a thread....... OMG there way more...... The sewing gods were not on my side.....

Finally I got the white border and outer border on this quilt .... The centre is Fairy Girls project from a few years ago at Scrub Stitchin'............. Thanks to the chat on zoom that got me to finding the range and Susan @ Susan's Sewing Space for finding the border fabric........

Found a great backing at Quilt Craft.......

Onto the churn dash blocks then......

Seems I'm not the only one who buys alcohol by name or picture...... No I didn't have to search for the chooks they were the first bottle I saw in the fridge..... No idea what it is but I had to have it...... Maybe rosee.......

PS going to bed Qld time and waking my NSW time is not good.......

OMG they let me in........

 OMG they let me in........I made it to Queensland finally with no Covid disruptions.........

The morning started early and after a hair-raising trip to the neighbours to pick up my partner in all things quilty we were on our way......... Had to wash the car on the way as it was covered in mud.......

( Those tracks in the mud are at least a foot deep)

8.5hrs later we were walking into the first quilt shop..........

the one on the front right may have become a backing for my French General quilt I made with the big blocks/arrow..........

Dinner last night at a Turkish restaurant..... First time for me...... Very nice but ate way too much......

About to get ready for Italian tonight with some friends........

At this rate I might need a holiday to get over the this holiday/retreat....

Saturday's sewing on zoom was Miss Elizabeth again..............

Just joining hexies to add to the sides of my panels............

more stormy skies.......4 mm sat afternoon and 8mm yesterday afternoon.........more rain forecast this weekend into next week...........I will be gone on retreat by then so all good hopefully......

Hmmm  what projects to pack.........its not like I don't have a list a mile long..........

So what's your "must not forget" item when going on retreat?????

"your favourite thing" to take on retreat????

Early bird catches the worm..........

 Well if you live downunder you will need to be up bright and early............
I'm hoping the Chookshed Stitchers can gather on zoom from 6am-9am my time Sat morning....(sorry Maria) 
The times are better for UK Europe now to join at the start.........

but as the saying goes "the early bird catches the worm" so Aussie girls need to be up and on early or miss out.........

the town river decided it needs to have a big flood like most rivers in western NSW at present............so many places flooded or completely inundated with water.....lots of road closures.......some towns isolated let alone farms isolated.............this river powers along when in full flood.........

And once again the creek is giving me water views at home........Lucky I don't need to drive thru it..............

Bridget, Chookshed Stitchers and storms..........

Someone found her way into the garden..........and she brought her baby with her...........

great time catching up with the Chookshed Stitchers again.........it had been a little while since we met last............

numbers vary all day.............so many time zones its always interesting to ask what time it is.........some pop in and say good morning or good night........and others say the reverse back........lol

I worked on Miss Elizabeth..........

Slowly you can see there was progress.........

two rows of diamonds added and started to join two sections.........

Last night we had a phenomenal light show..........it was close to constant flashing..........

the gap of light below isn't a reflection (on water) it's underneath the clouds...........

I was going to upload a video but I cannot work out how to get it here and I am heading to bed...........

it was so still for ages I sat and watched it at my front window and you could hear the crickets and frogs..........went out several times and took some videos and photos............we got 20mm.........

The Churn Dash SAL is waiting in the wings.....to much other stuff happening and I could not get the other fabrics so pretty frustrated with that...........maybe i'll get it done by the end of November.........the weather situation better change as so many roads are closed in my part of the world due to flooding..........at present it would add minimum 1hr extra to go to my retreat next month.........some will be open soon but it would not take much for them to close again............and we are in laNina......and she sure is strutting her stuff at present...........

I did fix all my work shirts that have stupid button positions and added an extra button at the bottom..........they look so much better..........gosh people make crap clothes now days.......I managed to work out how to do a button hole again it's been years and I must say they look great.......Lucky Peta reminded me to pin across the end when cutting the button hole open.....I didn't stuff one up and cut it too far..............

Storm and a bee......

Storms floating around the last few days..... We've managed to miss the heavy falls so far........

I captured the little buzzy friend below.... The bees love this succulent..... It only has tiny flowers but they must be good ones.....

I potted up a pile of pot plants today.... Some for work and repotting some for home.....One peace lily plant is now 5......

i have since trimmed the dead edges......

The skies been interesting with all the sudden cloud changes.......

weather for ducks..........

 LaNina sure is showing her stuff again.......3rd year in a row has officially kicked into gear.........another flood event over last weekend.......the only time I have waterfront views.............the creek sure has been gorgeous..........this was Monday afternoon its very slow to go down at present......... 

we have been pretty lucky so far........some of our region has coped it worse..........rural isolation is major......road closures, flood warnings, more rain forecast tomorrow, not too much but an inch is more like several at present..........big rain forecast again next week...........

We had a quick trip away for an engagement party.........we called in via Burrendong Dam on the way home..........this was about 139% when we called in..........I've not seen this dam full........its a bit off the road so you have to drive in specifically to see it...........before last weeks rain with constant releases they had got it down to 113% and with the rain + Windemere Dam spilled over after 20-30 years, it flows into the Cudgegong River which flows into Burrendong also....So quickly is was back up to 139%.....Burrendong spills into the Macquarie River...........the River near me is the Castlereagh............both the Macquarie and the Castlereagh (plus more) flow into the Barwon then into the Darling then Murray.........see map below.......and the top left of that maps shows you what part of Australia this covers..........it flows down near Jo.........

the floods get slowler and take months to move thru the system as the country is pretty flat.........given it is flat it all spreads out wide once out of the river banks.............lots of crops are currently standing in water.........

Big news.......Bridget has become a Mum.......just one baby..........I wished she had two..........

Delivered a quilt that I thought I was posting so that was wonderful..............

if you know you know...........but it did involve some crazy sewing and two binding lunches with Miss Jules my partner in all things quilty...........

So good to see these girls as the Chookshed got cancelled this year so it's been well over 12 months..........

Lifes been busy with lamb marking - I swear these lambs doubled in size as they went thru the next gate to where I picked them up.............OMG.........stock work is behind with all the wet weather..........

OK best go.........life has just been hectic - you all know what that's like.......

sewing to deadlines, sheep work, town work, both the kids home at different times......no time to blog or read blogs............but thought I best pop in before you send the are you ok messages.........

busy weekend with a family event then i'll do a big shop again Monday in prep for being stuck at home for who knows how long if next weeks forecast comes off.............

Was going away for a couple nights next weekend sewing with some friends but thats been canned......partly due to the fact two if us may not get there with the farecast rain..........

the joy of dirt roads............the weather has a massive effect especially when its many km's not just a short driveway.........best go this turned into a much bigger post than I thought it would................
